- In this video, I head out and do some lure fishing for bass. I'd be fishing a variety of lures and covering as much ground as possible in search of some fish.
After a little while, hopping over rocks and casting away, I ended up locking in to a lovely fish which I then cook up later in the video.
This cook up only involves a few very simple ingredients but is packed full of flavour! Join me in this video to see how I go about hunting these incredible fish and then demonstrate how easy it is to prepare a lovely meal with your catch.
Thanks for watching and see you on the next one 🎣

Well done cal nice video
Nice one Cal well done
This for me is what fishing is all about. Enjoying time by the water and then cooking the fruits of one’s labour.
@@CJL2008 For sure! 🎣🤙🏼
Now that looks good food mate

@@chriswhite904 Thanks mate. I always keep it simple. There’s not much need to complicate fish.

@@richardthomas5118 Thanks!
Another cracking video Cal.
Bass looked amazing cal 👍
Nice one off fish , lunch did look good , interesting that you caught the bass on the mullet colour 👍, tackle house feed shallow ( mullet ) I’ll try it next week south Cornwall, cheers Cal
@@mitchellsteele3878 Personally, I really like a lure in a mullet colour. Most shallow divers work well in that colour too. Good luck in Cornwall mate 🎣
great video you inspire me to go out fishing
@@AlanRobilliard-b5t Get out there mate 🎣
Wow . That food you cooked looked delicious. You should be a chef. Well done cal keep up the awesome work. 🔥🙌👍😄😎
Beautiful fish. I went bass fishing for the first time in my life this summer in Southern France near Montpellier and I must say the fish were not biting. We went out from shore at least 15 times. I did catch a 52 cm fish and my son caught a 57 and a 50. We did eat them and the best way IMO, is to BBW them whole with scales. Reallly simple. So much overfishing in Southern France , and people DO NOT respect limit size rules...I found it shameful.
@@rumcoke9123 Nice one mate. That’s good you managed to find a few given the difficulties. I know what you mean about the limitations. Unfortunately there are many places throughout Europe where no one pays attention to size limits. It’s a shame some treat it like that. Well done on the fish!
Going to give it a go in Holywell bay Cornwall tomorrow weather looks quite good not fished that spot before but quite excited about fishing there 🫣
@@markdunbar8219 Good luck! I’d love to do some bass fishing over in Cornwall one day. Cheers.
If only my sea was full of bass 😂
@@James-q5m6k Sometimes it feels like that over here too mate. It’s always rewarding when you manage to find some though. Cheers.
The hard work was worth it in the end, I was on my way over for dinner but I was too late 🤣🤣🤣
@@paulhiggins8774 😂
@@paulhiggins8774 Yeah we got there in the end mate. Was lucky to find one in the end I think.
Hi Cal, well done, think I need to get some smaller shads. I've been having a few fg knots fail on me lately, what do you think about fishing braid straight through? Do you think fluoro is essential to success?
@@selfdestructint Cheers mate. I don’t think fluoro is essential no. I think it’s more of a personal preference. I use a leader purely because I always have. I like that little bit of extra give and stretch at the end of the line.
@@FISHINGWITHCAL Cool thanks, I'll keep practising, but at the moment it's still taking me 20 mins to tie an fg knot 😅
Could you please help me with braid what lb and brand do you use please and what lb leader to go with it thankyou love the vids I’ve learnt a lot just started bass fishing with lures on south coast uk tia
@@ginja-14 Thanks mate! I use 20lb braid from samson fishing. I also use a 20lb fluorocarbon leader. For bass fishing, anything from 15-30lb braid will be fine. If you’re using a lighter rod and lighter lures then go for a lighter braid. If what you’re using is heavier, then step up the braid. That’s a rough guide anyway.
@@FISHINGWITHCAL thankyou for the reply does it matter what colour braid
@@ginja-14 No colour doesn’t matter. Some people like a green or a blue to match the water colour. I usually prefer this, but recently I’ve been using a high viz yellow which hasn’t made any difference to my catch rate. Personally, I like a moss green braid.
Super bass Cal, your perseverance paid off nicely. Just a note to your other subscribers/viewers. Somehow my notifications for your videos got switched off, just this channel, so, check your notifications or you'll miss out on Cal's uploads. 😊
@@johnrickards1908 Thank you mate! Yeah I’ve actually had that happen with a few channels I follow. I’m not sure why youtube does that. Thanks for the heads up 👍🏼
Where do you fishing what it call the spot?
