Thanks Cal, I will be trying the batter and tartar. Nice video again.
I like seeing you fish off the beach, it worries me seeing you jump around the rocks. That meal looked so good. Fish and chips, one of my favourite meals.
Yeah the beach fishing is certainly more relaxing! I'm always aware when I'm out on the rocks and I don't take many risky chances. You can’t beat a simple meal like fish and chips can you. Thanks!
Nice one cal, top fisherman top chef mate
Haha thanks a lot! I'll need a lot bigger fish next time to be called a top fisherman though! 😂
Absolutely stunning. Thank you for that great inspiration!
@@uwesauerbrey635 Thanks a lot 😀
Hey Cal,
The fishing part was okay. The cooking bit was fabulous, I've drooled watching you eat that beautiful fish and chips.
I'll be making my own tartar sauce from now on.
Thanks mate.
Yeah, the fishing was hardly spectacular! Nice to get a meal out of it though. Hopefully I'll have more success next time. Cheers!
Can’t help but to think another channel around cookery would serve you well.
@@Yemmr-o4d It’s crossed my mind a few times but finding the time for both channels would be an issue. Thank you though.
Cal that was another great video .. i enjoyed the cooking part as much as the fishing .. i was salivating seeing how appetising that fish n chips turned out .. excellent stuff mate .. thank you 👌🏻🎣
Haha thanks a lot. You can’t beat the old British classic!

Awesome video, a practical style that is what we want to see, very well executed! Thanks.
Thanks very much, I appreciate it!
Really enjoyable video,Cal😀I fished a few nights ago,and after being plagued by small black bream, caught a cracking Gilthead which was a fraction under 4lbs😀😀😀🎣🎣…it certainly put up a great fight😀…your bream and chips looked really tasty. All the best xx
Thanks Angela. That’s a nice Gilthead to catch, well done!
Top work
Thanks 👊🏼
Hell of a video Cal! Proper sea to plate mate👍🇨🇦
@@timothyjohnston6314 Cheers Timothy mate 👊🏼🎣
Not keen on bream personally, but that did look absolutely tasty, great vid Cal ,thanks for sharing 👍🏻
Cheers mate. I've always liked bream myself. You can batter pretty much anything though 😂So it's down to personal preference obviously 👌🏻
Bream and Salmon are probably the only fish ive tried that i didnt like .I use to cut pollock up into chunks and cook in a beer batter that was nice and simple. For me mackerel is one of my favourite.
Great video mate. Good knife skills too!
Just seen your channel Cal, a breath of fresh air. You are definitely a rival with Fish Disco for the bragging rights on catch and cook mate. (obviously you are both chefs) I can't believe you used razor clams as bait to catch bream, don't get me wrong, bream are delicious eating but personally, I'd rather eat the razor clams 😋
Keep up the good work Cal, I'll be watching and have just subscribed. Good luck with the fishing and I'm looking forward to some more videos.
Thanks very much! I can’t say I've heard of Fish Disco so I'll have to check that channel out. Haha, I know what you mean about the razors. They’re really tasty, I love the sweetness to them, but these were just frozen ones. I'd only ever eat fresh razors personally. Thanks for subscribing and checking out the video! Much appreciated!
Looked delicious. Made my mouth water 😊😊
😁
Mate, that looked well good
Cheers! 👊🏼
Ohhhhh, been salivating for most of that vid 🤤🤤 oh my gawd i can smell it thank u 😘 def got some knife skills fella along with ur fishing talent, another great video m8 thank you 😊
Come across this after watching beneath from jersey. You both explain and make things so easy on the ears. Oh and yes that looked tasty
I do love the smooth, flakey texture of bream. If only they’d evolved to take a lure. 😂
u remind me of smash fishing when i watch u
😂
Forgot the sweet chilli sauce again cal 😂 u can't beat home cooked fish
😂
Next time
Looked well tasty Cal.
I cannot stand capers though and think tartar sauce should be banned
😂
Great vid mate, wasn't too keen on Bream but I might give this a go next time. What were those berries you added to the sauce, I couldn't quite hear it.
Fresh Capper berries mate
Cheers mate. I think bream is a beautiful fish. Gilthead and Couches in particular. Yeah they were caper berries, quite a strong flavour.
Just found your channel, Cal.
Love it. I wish I'd found you sooner.
Can you do a video on how to bone a fish, please?
@@stevematthews4214 Thanks mate. I’ve done some videos in the past about filleting fish. They’ll be in the Catch & Cook playlist that’s on my channel.
@ top man, Cal. I will go on the search now 😂 keep up the good work bud
Looked yummy. I always have to have mushy peas with battered fish. Did you collect those razor fish yourself? Just wondered because you had an ice cream tub full.
Thanks! Usually I will dig the razors myself but these were actually bought frozen. I managed to get 2 big bags of them. Most of the time, I'm working during the big low tides so these are a good enough back up to have.
@@FISHINGWITHCALNice. I think Razors are an underrated bait. I had my PB smooth-hound of 8.5lbs on razor and squid cocktail while just along from me were 5 guys from the local angling club all using peeler and didn’t catch a single hound.
Fabulous Cal, funnily enough everyone around Milford Haven seem to think neep tides are the best for gilt-heads. Following on from my last comment, what knot do you use for leaders? Thinking I may try Yucatan as FG is not agreeing with my brain. Is chef'ing your day job?
Thanks mate. Yeah, Giltheads can be caught on most tides really. It will depend on the venue obviously. As far as leader knots go, I never use them for bait fishing. For lure fishing I use a size 8 swivel instead of a knot. I always keep pre-tied leaders with me when lure fishing. I will use a variation on the albright knot for certain things when bait fishing.
Thanks mate, yeah have thought about making up leaders, would certainly keep lures in the water for longer, I can lose twice as many in each session! 😁
You need to go old skool and get the peg with a bell on it for the end of your rod then we’d hear the bites
I can’t stand those things 😂
