    Nice break down, very simple way to explain it. I just installed my chip for the SLICK and USER mode. Any tips on setting up USER mode?

    • @TheBikeStig
      @TheBikeStig  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Nothing more than this JJ - I found it useful to set the bike's base damping setting for 2 up riding in the SPORT mode (yep, the missus jumps on the back), and then set everything up as I want in 'user' mode specifically for track days where I'm mostly running street tyres. USER mode just gives you flexibility to set it up for aggressive riding on the road without the full race set up in SLICK mode.

    • @TheBikeStig

      haha, don't worry I've actually had that happen to me on a bike without launch control. Actually what will happen with launch control on when you drop the clutch is it will bog down. yeah you worked it out. Pit Limiter is activated with the same button and works while riding along in 1st gear. LC is activated in neutral, you hold it until it turns on. Hello The Bike Stig, do you have (made) a video about the clutch lever control during the launching of the bike? I've try and didn't succeed :( Maybe I was afraid of suddenly wheelie, or not trusting to let clutch suddenly.

    • @TheBikeStig
      @TheBikeStig  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't actually, might have to make one. The way for you to do this is to simply let it out smoothly, bike won't wheelie as it has a lot of intervention in place plus lowered power. the biggest mistake people make is they rev it and let clutch out at same time and it bogs down. You need to rev it first, then let the clutch out smoothly. Give that a try, I'd say your more likely to bog down the first time.

    Does the launch control have the wheelie control activated? I have used it a couple of times, my best attempt was 0-200 in 8 secs at 2800m above sea level. But I didn't go full throttle during the first 2 or 3 seconds because I felt it was lifting the front wheel too much. Are we supposed to go full throttle on lunch control?

    • @TheBikeStig
      @TheBikeStig  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes mate, it's full throttle on launch and the launch control limits it to 9,000 rpm while you have the clutch in. Then you have to roll out the clutch smoothly. Full power comes back when you hit third gear. It will wheelie as slick mode has the least amount of intervention. Your goal is to smoothly let that clutch out so it doesn't bog down nor is too aggressive on take off, if concerned I am fairly sure that by increasing the DTC setting to it's highest (+7) you get the greatest amount wheelie intervention. If anyone else out there knows more, let us know.

      I'm not sure what that would be and Im not a technical expert of problems. I do know the front end will lift but not that far when I launch mine using LC. What I would do is try doing a standing start in sport or race mode and see if you get the same front end lifting, I know those modes have much more wheelie control than race (or slick which has none). At least that gives you an indication if you have a wheelie control problem. Next step is to talk to someone who knows the technical workings of it at BMW. Maybe get some footage from GoPro or something so you can shown them. Hope that helps mate.
