Great video. My daughter has been adding curry powder to baked beans for several years just for a change from the "normal" beans. I don't buy Heinz beans so no idea how much they are. I wonder what the price difference is between their basic beans and the one with the curry flavour.
Great review again Dean try Aldi beans with a couple of teaspoons of mayflower curry powder perfect .... warm the beans then stir mayflower in are lovely mate and barbeque just add a decent barbeque sauce in lol
bbq beans, get a tin of cheap beans and i put in some reds un-holy bbq sauce that i always have in fridge and a squirt of ketchup, mix, microwave. done. tried these heinz ones and they not great. top vids by the way.
can't beat cold beans straight from the tin. If I'm in the mood, will add curry and chilli powder, brown sauce and pepper but needs to be heated and am to lazy for that
The normal beans with a dollop of hp bbq sauce makes far nicer bbq beans. I always done that before those bbq beans came out. Was disappointed when I tried them.
Same, used to do it all the time as a kid, these flavours are easy to make without paying the extra they charge. Smoked paprika adds great flavour. I always add tobasco to mine
Although I prefer Heinz and Branstons beans I am absolutely fine with both Aldi and Lidls own brand, and for the price difference....it's Aldi/Lidl all the way.
As you say the Curry ones are just some curry powder mixed in and nothing you couldn't do yourself whilst saving approx a quid a tin. BBQ ones used to be better but they seem to have less BBQ flavour to them nowadays. Personally I think the only Beans that taste different are Branston as they have a slight tang to them. Be interesting if you could do better flavoured versions of these on the cheap.
Call me daft, but how does half a can of 390g curried beans equate to 207g, and half a can of 390g barbecue beans equate to 195g? @2:59 Is it my maths or is there a variable I'm not getting?
I know bad beans - hard beans and bland sauces. There's Heinz ketchup. Then there's the red vinegar many cafes serve. No part of my breakfasts is "less than" . "It's just beans, who cares" is why many businesses fail.
Hard baked beans are very much a thing of the No Frills era 20-odd years ago. The standard has just gone up so much now that brands like Heinz really are just living off the name, and own brands might have a slight difference in taste but are basically the same thing. The only obvious difference I’ve seen is that some beans are a little sweeter (which I don’t like as much) and some have a thicker sauce - which to me is more desirable. Heinz cannot change their recipe at all, so in a sense they’re at a disadvantage, and I now find them a bit too runny compared with, say, Aldi Corale brand or Branston. None of the beans I’ve eaten over the past couple of years have been good or bad enough to make or break my beans on toast or breakfast though, and they are still just beans to me 🤣
@PotatoPirate If - as Deano suggested - the attitude towards beans is "an obligatory but not much cared about part of a Full English might be part of the problem. I don't "cheap out" on the "unimportant" bits. I eliminate them. Beans on toast? Not just any old beans Or the cheapest economy bread Or heavy forfend margarine!! Period of my life I lived on 9p Netto beans bought by the 12 case on giro day... praise the good lord I've worked my way up.
@@darrengordon-hill what would your bean of choice be? I wouldn’t pay £1 for Heinz beans even if I thought they were better, because *none* of the beans I prefer are worth paying 3X the price for. I’m happy to pay a bit more for things but I won’t support companies who take the p**s. I’ve said in videos before that there are certain things that are justifiable in their expense due to using more premium ingredients - for example a Charlie Bigham lasagne is going to be infinitely higher quality than a Just Essentials one. With Heinz you’re paying for a flavour profile and basically little else - it’s not a premium product in any way at all. And that just irks me. I remember Netto beans though, and I remember when pretty much all cheap beans were like bullets. I also remember when cheap frozen peas were like that! Thankfully those days are gone. In terms of skimping out, I would largely agree but you can still have nice butter on your toast - just don’t get Lurpak; you can still have nice cheese on your toast - just don’t get Cathedral City; you can still have nice beans - just don’t buy Heinz. It doesn’t necessarily figure that the much cheaper product is so bad that it’s not worth eating.
I do like branston beans, the sauce is lovely. Only buy them as a treat, usually get the cheap ones
Currently £1.80 a tin in Sainsburys. They can keep them for that price.
rip off price
the curry beans in a baked tottie n cheese AMAZING!!!

Deano, beans are beans, even value, let them thicken up on hob and add a knob of butter, perfect 👍
Great review again Dean try Aldi beans with a couple of teaspoons of mayflower curry powder perfect .... warm the beans then stir mayflower in are lovely mate and barbeque just add a decent barbeque sauce in lol
Great idea
Nice 1 Deano…. Smithy

There's only one beans and thats Branston yum yum.
We add the barbecue ones to an asda packet sausage casserole mix, they really add to the flavour of the sausage casserole 👍

Hey hope everything is ok Deano, missed you and your videos for the last couple of days. Hope all is well, take care 😊
All good Rebekah, thanks for the message. I'll be back tomorrow
Can't beat a little squirt of brown sauce in the beans as you're heating them. Very naughty but so good
Thanks Farty Pumperson, I was wondering the same thing, thought I'd missed something.
The BBQ beans are very good

Asda Just Essentials are good too. Especially the sausage and beans. Cheaper than the Aldi/Lidl ones too.
Hi just essentials for me 🤔🙄🤣🤣🤣🤣
HOPE YOUR OK DEANO ...NO VIDEO FOR 2 DAYS NOT LIKE YOU.
I am well. Back tomorrow 😁😁😁

Depends how hungry you are 🤣
Just add your own curry powder to cheap supermarket beans

Exbeansive,😉
Jeez Heinz what a rip off!!!
Beans are not beans, there's different quality beans and how well they have been cooked and the quality mixture of the sauce, use your brain lad FFS.
