    I usually do my own when I want spice up my beans. I just add a spoon of curry paste to a tin of own brand Aldi beans and a drizzle of olive oil and simmer for 2 mins. You can also use curry powder instead of the paste. Far cheaper than a tin for £1.80.
    Sometimes I’ll fry half an onion with the curried beans as well if I’m eating it as part of a more substantial meal, like with an omelette. Delicious.

    Never do baked beans in microwave. You can elevate beans to a far higher level by warming them on hob but very very gentley and slowly. Most folks just warm/heat them up but the trick is to actually cook them low and slow for about 15 maybe 20 minutes…the difference in both taste and texture is massive.

    • @markytuk1
      @markytuk1 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not really though. I say this as someone who has microwaved beans. Sure they're better heated in a pan on a hob but they're not that much different. The main difference is in the brand of beans you buy.

    I generally add a pinch of hot chilli powder and a tiny blob of butter to baked beans. I also gently cook the beans for about ten minutes, they soften up and the flavour improves.
    Another trick is to gently fry a really small piece of streaky bacon in the saucepan, just to release the oil from the bacon, then add the beans and cook them.

Price per can is cheaper than when you bought yours, £1.40 plus they've got a deal for "Any 5 for £5" so a quid a can. Just beans though. You used to be able to get similar chicken tinned curries from m&s for similar price. You could jazz these up with toasted naan and some raw onion salad like you get with poppadoms.

    Great review, I used to like the original curry beans, I think I'll give the hot ones a try Heinz are my favourite beans but the cost has skyrocketed, I mean two tins of beans is the same price as a kilo of chicken thighs, it's bloody madness!! . PEACE AND LOVE TO EVERYONE ❤❤.

    I have tried the bbq, and they are pretty good, not an intense bbq flavor. I do make homeade with dried beans, just wish I could get salt pork here, but use pork belly. B&M has had 6 cans of heinz beans for £4, for the heinz lovers

    Back in the days I tried the Heinz Curried Beans and enjoyed them, it was probably the addition of sugar, however the premium for adding the curry was high. As with these new ones. I am sure it will have more to do with an intense cleaning of the production line than anything.
    Sorry Gareth, like others I wil just het budget beans and add my own spices.
    As I have said before the ingredients these days of adding modified cornstarch/rapeseed oil is a nogo area for me.
    What better way to serve beans than with rice, A staple for swathes of people in the Middle East and Asia.
    Watch out for the draught coming fom the kitchen.

    I am another one who has been spicing up ordinary food for years. I go to the supermarket, read the ingredients on the expensive stuff, think, “That’s a good idea, I’ve got those spices at home,” buy the cheap stuff, go home and improve it!
