FINALLY A VIDEO THAT SHOWS A root touchup on gray hair with highlights and low lights! everyone post only Balayage on virgin hair.Great JOB!!!! Beautiful
Nice to see you doing what I love and miss sooo much 😭😷🦠😘🙏🏼can’t wait till I’m back in my beautiful shop that has been closed down since March Gods got a plan 🙏🏼😘I’ll continue watching all you beautiful artists out there reminding me of my true reality 💇🏻♀️ this to will pass 🙏🏼thanks
Blondme is by far one of the best lighteners I've used it is definitely a powerhouse of a lightener great for dark hair. 9p is too perfect for words, loving the results on my friends hair.
+MsBellaCarito It really is! I'm never disappointed when I use Blonde Me! Omg girl I am obsessed with the 9 and 7 P! We have only been needing this toner forever!
I love a hair stylist demonstrating new products, fabulous video ,great choice of tint and technique -sadly, much as I love Redken products to use on my clientele,we can only buy it in the UK if you are a Redken registered salon. (That's the professional line, styling products are easily bought)
This is absolutely beautiful Alexsis! You have such good understanding of hair science! Wish I could hop on a plane from Scotland to you to have you do mine! :)
You can use corn starch too, or rice starch, or even tapioca starch to thicken any hair color or bleach mix. It is old school, but doesn't affect lifting or deposit at all! I have even added kaolin white clay to Blondor to make it stay put.
Thank you for the video! I have two questions. One, so her hair that you started with looked very warm...and from what I can see and from what I think you were describing...you just took small sections and did the balayage technique with the dark color. Did the hair that didn't get colored get color on it in between the foils? I can't tell. I don't see any warmth in the end result but I also didn't see you put color on the hair that was left out. And my second question is, how small are each of your sections, ish? TIA!
It looked like you were skipping sections throughout. Did you just leave those out or did you go back through and paint those the base color? Love this video!!
+corey kennedy I sure did. I didn't cover the entire head, just pulled out artistic placement since she had pre-existing color on her ends I didnt feel as if I would need to cover every hair. Everyones hair is different in the way I approach their color!
I always wondered if you can lighten and darken in same foil!!! Thanks. Always afraid to mix different chemicals and I wondered if it would come out in clumps 😆
oh my goodness, i just want to thank you for your videos! you are so talented and such a great educator, thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us, you kick ass!!!
It’s meant to cancel yellow tones, not red brassy tones! You need to get back into your color wheel and color book to see what your trying to cancel and what will work!
Hi dear! Could you tell me what colour you had on your hair on the 'before' photo, before you changed it into fall sombre? Bc it looks sooo great! :) :)
Gorgeous work! Do you put toner all over or just on highlights? When I used wella t18 toner with 20 developer - it turned my roots an orange copper color. The girl at Sally's insisted it would only tone highlights.
I have a question. I went to the hair dresser and wanted to get this exact effect, however, it turned out quite brassy for my taste, somewhat like the picture before. I really want to neutralize the brassiness. Will I get a successful result if I only use the toner? Btw. gorgeous result!
+Alanna Smith Hey Alanna, thank you. I've already ordered the BC Color Freeze Silver Shampoo online yesterday and waiting for it to arrive :) I really hope it works.
Well not quite, the shampoo did help a bit, but I think the hairdresser didn't "break" the base of the color enough. So I think I need to correct it at some point soon. Also I have naturally super dark hair, so it's a bit more challenging I guess.
I know you love 9T to tone as well so how would you compare the 9P to it? I have lots of gold and some yellow highlights so wondering what would better suited for me and what would give a more ashy result? I think the 9T has blue tones as opposed to 9P being blue violet correct?
The T shade is a more gray/silver/blue, super good for resistant and extremely brassy/red tones needing corrective color. The P is a super clean violet/blue based toner that comes off pearly, it tones really well and so far hasn't "grabbed" on spots like the T or V had. I can't live without P now, it's the best toner so far!!!
Ok. So one of my favorite color lines is redken color gels. My only beef is its consistency. So I was thrilled to discover your little wondra trick. I tried it today and it made the color not work at all. Barely any of her grey was covered. What did I do wrong? Can it only be used with shades? Is there a certain mixing ratio I should have used?
+Rachel Moen I've actually given it several chances It doesn't really work. I've used the flour several times now and it works great :) don't know what happened the first time.
+nicole osullivan whichever works! i feel like when i use liquid developer over cream my color comes out soupy. gels tend to give me a hard time, like the loreal color line.
+Rachel Moen agreed very messy. Just recently started using socolor. I'm surprised at how much I like it. Gives decent shine too. I work for myself. Loreal is a bit to pricey for me. Maybe someday :)
Her hair is so lovely! Can I ask, what volume developer should I use? I have balayage and I'm a bit scared to use the 20 Vol on my virgin brown hair, but need to tone my blonde balayage which starts a couple of inches down... Should I use a 10 Vol with my toner? Thanks!
Hi! I used a color remover and now my hair is orange/ brown do u think I can use the same toner on my hair even though no is blonde? Or can u please suggest me a good toner for light brown/ orange hair? Thank u
Beautiful! This is how i want my hair but i have pretty dark brown hair so i dont know if it can get to that ashy blonde color i want... Will i need to dye it the orange-er color first before i can ever get to that blonde color?
I'm currently a cos student and I'm so lost when it comes to colour. I just don't understand it and it's really bumming me out. Did you have a problem understanding colour when you first started out?
+Margaretta Bucey Girl don't worry about it. You get better in time and then the light bulb will happen and you will learn to understand it. Cutting was my weakness, but I kept practicing and now I'm comfortable with it. In school you don't learn as much as when you get out and train as an assistant, which I recommend to EVERYONE! You learn so much and its amazing, I own a lot of my techniques to the amazing stylists I've worked for! Keep your head up girl!
I was curious - I did the 6t6n redken ShEq on my 9t9v hair as a sombre smudge root - not only did it not come out the color yours did but it was not a soft transition it was a very harsh and after washing it out I don't know what happened but it toned there length of my hair a very gray so I had like a dark gray roots and a gray and have you ever had that happen? And could this be because my hair was recently bleached and is very porous? We have the same natural color (very close match) mine is a shoulderlength A-line bob where yours is very long and probably has been blonde a long time. Sorry really wanted to ask. I was convinced the combination would go smooth being that we have the same blonde color so I figured the same route color would look almost identical but to my surprise it did not. Just curious :)
+Alexsis Mae it blew my mind. I know redken has a hair color thickener but I don't know that my supply store carries it and wondra is way cheaper I'm betting 😂
To be honest I have the Redken thickener, and it makes the end result a patchy color for some reason! I've tried it on a few family members and I didn't like it at all. Wondra takes on the color and I've never seen anything but beautiful low lights with it!
I'm a Cosmo student I bleached my level 2 virgin hair with redken up to 7 and it came out like a brassy orange so I toned it with the shades eq 8n gloss and it still has orange tones! What can I add to it from shades eq to remove orange tones ?
The picture on the left on 00:08 is amazing, does anyone know where to find that picture? The finished look was stunning but I'm in love with the look that inspired her
I'm going to do this on my hair, I've had a "balayage" that went bad about four weeks ago, but if I can't get the Redken toner what else can I use? P.S: I'm from Mexico
i am a cosmo student trying to get this effect on myself. . my natural hair is about a level 3 but i have reddish tone ends about a level 4 due to some residual bleaching and covering with a manic panic type red color.. im not sure steps i should follow are the same since i need to lighten roots too.. i hope u can answer i will also be consulting my teacher but she's so busy I'd like to get a second opinion before i botch up my hair again. thanks! !
so did you foil every piece of hair? looks like you left some out did u just lowlight the left out peices or something? cause the red didn't show through
do you find that this technique makes harsh lines near the root area? do you avoid that by painting with a lighter hand near the root area? do you use a darker toner in the root area?
No this techniques completely does the opposite result, it's super soft and diffused for a natural look. I use the same look and feather it at the root like in the video💋
love! cud u please explain the terminologies - toner, developer, 9p ? hairstylists in India don't tell anything/ I hav tgin, dry hair and the salon literally turned my hair to a dry haystack after color / highlights leading to extreme hairfall and breakage. Im looking to be better informed so I can question the products they apply. one can't trust them to be actually using the brands they say they use! I currently have my natural dark brown hair new growth and a bottom grassy orange patch. please could you give me a ballpark of the products I wud need for a look like you created?( I understand it won't be exact)
+Annu Panesar sorry girl but hair stylist terminology is important because it means that hairstylists should do it. I understand you had a bad experience but I never recommend anyone to do their hair themselves.
FINALLY A VIDEO THAT SHOWS A root touchup on gray hair with highlights and low lights! everyone post only Balayage on virgin hair.Great JOB!!!! Beautiful
So gorgeous!! One of the rare videos showing the actual steps and it turning out just right!! Thanks for posting this!!
I use blonde me and love it. With olaplex and blonde me I got level 6 to 10 with 40 vol and 2 hours- no breakage ;)

+MsBellaCarito It really is! I'm never disappointed when I use Blonde Me! Omg girl I am obsessed with the 9 and 7 P! We have only been needing this toner forever!
9P is my go to toner. I just love it. I also use Schwarzkopf and Continuum. Glad to see that you also use the color line.
+PoshSalon SpaAndBeautyBar it's amazing! And I really enjoy using Schwarzkopf...but I also love to try other things lol!
I love a hair stylist demonstrating new products, fabulous video ,great choice of tint and technique -sadly, much as I love Redken products to use on my clientele,we can only buy it in the UK if you are a Redken registered salon. (That's the professional line, styling products are easily bought)

same question....wondering about the hair inbetween the baylayage packets!
Wondering the same…..09P won’t tone orange to platinum itself. How did you do that?
Looks so amazing :)
Did you pit the toner just over the blond or over the complete hair?
Not so long ago discovered the 09Ps!! I love them too!! I was wondering how you were gonna get the copper out... Turned out fabulous!!
Application technique distinguishes a seasoned colorist from a rookie!!! Loved the turnout!
Thank you 😊
Awesome color! Was wondering how long you processed the base color and the toner?
+Jessica Louise the base color is 40 minutes and toners all depend on the clients hair tone and what we need to cancel out.
This 9p is dreamy. I decided to try rose gold this time, but I'll be sure to keep this in mind for the future!
+Becca Dolce Its incredible! I've been obsessed with it!
Amazing job! Her hair is gorgeous! Wish I could find someone to do this to my hair.
Thank you so much☺️ Get on Yelp and search stylist in your area! I'm sure you can find one!
Finally a left handed stylist as meeee! 😁👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
this is stunning! you are super talented!
Thank you sweet thing😆
Must be a trade secret ; P
I always wondered if you can lighten and darken in same foil!!! Thanks. Always afraid to mix different chemicals and I wondered if it would come out in clumps 😆
amazing color! so inventive to place the lowlight inside the V of lightener, thank you for sharing!
Omg that toner took all that brass out. I have a rooted ombré in my hair and I need this toner.
+Gina Crisci Haha yes you do! Its magical!
honestly this is 100% more beautiful than the inspired pic but what is the color that you used on the roots ???
+Manar Elkhatib oh thank you! The color is listed in the description box.
I love to dilute Matrix's 9P toner with SPV. Comes out perfectly toned. 😍
omg gorgeous!!! do you use olaplex with toner as well?
+Brittani Montoya I sure do!!! And thank you!
oh my goodness, i just want to thank you for your videos! you are so talented and such a great educator, thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us, you kick ass!!!
+unfoldyourselfnow vlog o my gosh you just made my day!!! Thank you so much!
I used Redken shades 09p to neutralize brassy/red hair after bleaching, but it didn’t work 😢 what do you think could have gone wrong?
It’s meant to cancel yellow tones, not red brassy tones! You need to get back into your color wheel and color book to see what your trying to cancel and what will work!
i dont know why i love watching this videos if i cant do that hahaha
Hi dear! Could you tell me what colour you had on your hair on the 'before' photo, before you changed it into fall sombre? Bc it looks sooo great! :) :)
This is so gorgeous ! Did you use straight 9p ? Or did you add clear or anything else ?
+zelofskeau thank you! I always post my full formula in the description box, this was 09P and processing solution, nothing else 😉
Do you apply it on dry damp or wet hair please ? I have an interview at ulta tomorrow and I'm educating myself on redken
that came out looking impossibly beautiful!!
Thank you so much 😘😘😘
Great video! Did you do that technique to all of her hair? Or did you leave some hair out?
I am interested of that as well, did you get any reply? :)
This exactly how I want to dye my hair 😩 with a little bit of silver in the highlights though. Ugh it's so pretty
+EyitsCat c: 😽thank you!
love this great result and very helpfully for redken just ordered 09p because of your vid. are there any more you would recommend?
this is beautiful and I have a color correction today to figure out. wish me luck. this is stunning
BEST OF LUCK! Trust YOUR instincts!
Gorgeous work! Do you put toner all over or just on highlights? When I used wella t18 toner with 20 developer - it turned my roots an orange copper color. The girl at Sally's insisted it would only tone highlights.
+Nichole Babinec you can't use 20 vol for toner, that lift de natural color of the roots, for toning always use a developer like 9 vol or less
I made the same mistake. The 20 volume does lift hair color, so my roots turned orange as well and it was a disaster.
T18 lifts depending on developer you are using if you don't want it to lift much make sure you are using 10 vol and then you can apply it all over
This video is for professional education. Years of training goes into hair especially color. One size does not fit all. Go to a professional!!!
I have a question. I went to the hair dresser and wanted to get this exact effect, however, it turned out quite brassy for my taste, somewhat like the picture before. I really want to neutralize the brassiness. Will I get a successful result if I only use the toner? Btw. gorgeous result!
+Natalie Soudani Hey! Try a purple conditioning treatment. You can get it at the drugstore. It helped me when my hair started getting brassy.
+Alanna Smith Hey Alanna, thank you. I've already ordered the BC Color Freeze Silver Shampoo online yesterday and waiting for it to arrive :) I really hope it works.
+Natalie Soudani Did that end up working for you? I'm going through the same experience at the moment...
Well not quite, the shampoo did help a bit, but I think the hairdresser didn't "break" the base of the color enough. So I think I need to correct it at some point soon. Also I have naturally super dark hair, so it's a bit more challenging I guess.

The P is a super clean violet/blue based toner that comes off pearly, it tones really well and so far hasn't "grabbed" on spots like the T or V had. I can't live without P now, it's the best toner so far!!!
Why did you switch to Redken Shades 5N & 6N instead of continuing with Igora products?
I noticed it too! Base looks different
This video is a life saver I’m a stylist n this helped me a lot thank you 😊
WHERE are you located?? I'm obsessed with this, you're so talented!!!
+Hailey F thank you!!! I am in Orange County!
Ok. So one of my favorite color lines is redken color gels. My only beef is its consistency. So I was thrilled to discover your little wondra trick. I tried it today and it made the color not work at all. Barely any of her grey was covered. What did I do wrong? Can it only be used with shades? Is there a certain mixing ratio I should have used?
in school we had a color thickener that you can buy at cosmoprof. i sadly cant remember the name of it
+Rachel Moen I've actually given it several chances It doesn't really work.
Redken Color thickener works great, I get it at Salon Centric:)
This turned out beautiful! And yes shades is the best!
Since this was a few years ago I'm gonna look for your videos to see if you've used any of the Ms.. In redken eq..
the end result is stunning looks awesome
+just my style thank you so much 💕
Her hair is so lovely!
Can I ask, what volume developer should I use? I have balayage and I'm a bit scared to use the 20 Vol on my virgin brown hair, but need to tone my blonde balayage which starts a couple of inches down... Should I use a 10 Vol with my toner?
Thanks!
+Emma Wales thank you! It depends on what color line you're using
How do you use the 9P toner? Do you put it on wet hair? How long does it need to stay in the hair before getting rinsed out?
Hi! I used a color remover and now my hair is orange/ brown do u think I can use the same toner on my hair even though no is blonde? Or can u please suggest me a good toner for light brown/ orange hair? Thank u
With the pieces that you left out did you just tone them at the bowl with everything else?
+Claire Lovitt yes! If your client has really brassy hair you can tone in between after putting the balayage pieces in!
Can the toner be used alone to tone a previous balayage hair? As a touch up to keep the brassy out and the ashy in?
+Iris T yes totally!
Nice work. I wish I could've seen a front view.
Beautiful! This is how i want my hair but i have pretty dark brown hair so i dont know if it can get to that ashy blonde color i want... Will i need to dye it the orange-er color first before i can ever get to that blonde color?
+Jade Alexis sometimes it takes a few times to get it to this level of blonde! It all depends on your hair, the stylist, and products used.
Fyi: Redken has eq cream color too.
Yes I know i use it all the time, but they don’t have the shades that the gloss line does.
@@AlexsisMae gotcha
That was beautiful, how much you charge for that?
+BADPRINCESS x it's depends on the hair!
I am SO obsessed with your work!!❤️
+Sierra Zaugg omg thank youiuuuu❤️❤️❤️
when you add the shades in the middle of your "V" is it a problem if some of the bleach bleeds into it?
I have learned so much from this video !! Omg thank u answered so many questions of mine as a new stylist 😌
Oh you are so welcome!!! Thank you for watching!
Hi, do you put the toner throughout all the hair all just the highlighted bits?
Omg i want her hair! Did u use 20vol on the toner or 10?
No, check out the description box and it will lost the formula pretty thing💕
This was a great technique. Who make Continium?
+Laura Harnden thank you! It's made by DS labs, but I'd recommend sticking to Olaplex! It's my go to BFF!
He
ommmg the wondra tip just changed my life
You are the first one to comment on the wondra hahaha! Girl it's amazing!!! My boss who's done hair for 25 years taught me about it!
I'm very glad you told me that, thank you so much. (: wondra it is!
+Kaila Lewis of corse!!! Thanks for watching💜
I'm a Cosmo student I bleached my level 2 virgin hair with redken up to 7 and it came out like a brassy orange so I toned it with the shades eq 8n gloss and it still has orange tones! What can I add to it from shades eq to remove orange tones ?
You'll want to cancel out orange tones using a blue or purple toner. I mix both. I would mix Redken Shades EQ half 07V and 09B
What was the color do you use or put in her hair iwant that hair color too pls tnx
The picture on the left on 00:08 is amazing, does anyone know where to find that picture? The finished look was stunning but I'm in love with the look that inspired her
+Elle we found the picture on Pinterest, but you can screen shot it if you want it!
How much would it be for that hair? I'm debating whether or not if I should get it done
Omg!!! You have got to be the best I've ever seen on you tube I love your videos amazing artist..keep up the excellent work subscriber for life :-)
I'm going to do this on my hair, I've had a "balayage" that went bad about four weeks ago, but if I can't get the Redken toner what else can I use?
P.S: I'm from Mexico
But what is the actual undertone of 9P? 9B is blue, 9T is silver/blue, 9v is violet...but what is P?!
pearl beige tone I'd think
+Lana BStar 9P is Violet-Blue, actually you can make 9P, mixing the right ratio 9V-9B-clear
What is the P in the opal shade? What color does it cancel?
It's a blue/violet undertone that cancels orange/yellow tones!💜
I am LOVING the 09P!
I am not a hairstylist but I love watching your videos!!!
+Ale Martin Thank you so much!
FINALLY A GREAT CONCISE VIDEO
i am a cosmo student trying to get this effect on myself. . my natural hair is about a level 3 but i have reddish tone ends about a level 4 due to some residual bleaching and covering with a manic panic type red color.. im not sure steps i should follow are the same since i need to lighten roots too.. i hope u can answer i will also be consulting my teacher but she's so busy I'd like to get a second opinion before i botch up my hair again. thanks! !
you didnt show the whole procedure. ex., what toner did u use after the highlighting?
+Puma Pu She says @ 5:05 the toner she used, just FYI. Unless you didn't hear her say, "And the most amazing new toner..."
for the igora royal line do you have to use the corresponding developer with it? Will it make a difference? Or can you use a different developer
+Rachel Moen I've used a different developer before and not had a problem. But you never know!
+Alexis Mae How much Wondra do you add to your color mixture??? That is one of the BEST tips I have ever heard! Going to be a total game changer!!
I just got a balayage today at the salon, and it came out orange, which I didn’t like it. I wanted exactly how you didn’t to this lady, the after pic.
Love the hair, where is ur shop located?
Wow that turned out gorgeous!
so did you foil every piece of hair? looks like you left some out did u just lowlight the left out peices or something? cause the red didn't show through
+Miranda Sander kind of, it's either toned or highlighted!
I like how you Explain and Your Videos its all the information we need Great Job 👌🌹
do you find that this technique makes harsh lines near the root area? do you avoid that by painting with a lighter hand near the root area? do you use a darker toner in the root area?
No this techniques completely does the opposite result, it's super soft and diffused for a natural look. I use the same look and feather it at the root like in the video💋
+Alexsis Mae kk thank you for the great videos❤
+Ro Sharp Thank you for watching sweet thing XOXO
So beautiful!"!!!
Can Koreans have the same color??
I really love this coloring but I can't visit you..:(....
+조유정 I'm sure you can have something like this! Take a picture to your stylist and see what they can do!
Hi , can you show me why when i pưt colored gray on hair so that fade out ,not in long time
Where are u located, any chance coming to Orlando FL? I have orsnge brassy hair from brunette go oh ng for blonde highlights, how can n i fix it?
could you use the toner without the processing solution or is it necessary to mix both? thank you xx
It’s the activator, so it must be used together.
love! did u do very thin foils on top?? I think the top and front is where I have trouble ..
I'm confused why you are not using Olaplex?
Always trying new products and finding out which ones I like best and which ones I like for different techniques!
I di this same technique on my sombreed bruntettes Love it.
+Rainbo T So awesome, its such a stunning dimensional look!
I love your work.
love! cud u please explain the terminologies - toner, developer, 9p ? hairstylists in India don't tell anything/ I hav tgin, dry hair and the salon literally turned my hair to a dry haystack after color / highlights leading to extreme hairfall and breakage.
Question, why do you use a 30 developer in your base brown? Not a hair dresser so I’m honestly curious?
That’s what this brand requires for double pigmented colors. I normally don’t!
I want this colour 😀 its beautiful x
Where would you start the balayage on short hair ?
While processing, do you apply heat?
Can I use a toner on previously colored hair? I have this kind of balayage but I noticed the blonde parts are getting brown...
+Coralis Cruz toner won't lighten hair.
Beautiful. im wanting to do this on myself. We'll see how it goes lol
Can you do a video on how to neutralize brassy blonde at home!
I do have a video like that, just scroll through and you'll find it😉
Better than the inspiration picture.
Thank you!
