I recognize John Cox’s voice during the simulator voiceover. He’s retired and often appears in various post-crash investigation documentaries. He also writes a column for USA Today.

Thanks for the upload!! Brings many fond memories of being a kid avgeek. Allegheny/USAir became my first unaccompanied flying experience via DC9-30 and BAC-111 via Pittsburgh. Have fond memories of my Aunt visiting us from Baltimore via Allegheny. I sure miss DC-9-30s, 727s, etc diverse mix of branded trademark airlines and aircraft back in those days. Understand consolidation and rationalization as it was forcasted, but as a kid into a young adult, these were great times to be an avgeek enthusiast.

Took Allegheny exactly 40 years ago from Chicago to Pittsburgh. It was a DC-9 plane. On time and smooth flight!

The Mark Spitz looking guy still works there out on the ramp. He's the no. One Senior person! And a super good guy.

Frequently flew round trip from Northeast Phila airport on Allegheny Commuter (Ransome Airlines) to PHL, then on Allegheny DC 9 to Pittsburgh and then onto Huntington WV on an Allegheny Convair 580. Great service every time. I particularly loved the CV580s.

I remember being fascinated with the square tear-off boarding pass on the front of the ticket jacket. The boarding pass and envelope would be rubber-stamped with the date, flight #, and destination airport code. They would be torn off by the flight attendant at the door of the aircraft, and counted before departure. Those were the days!

The gate agent guy was a dead ringer for Mark Spitz. I wonder how many passengers asked to see his gold medals?

I noticed a military Fairchild Provider (C-123) in the background after the painting scene.

Other than the association to the magnificent allegheny mountains, it didn't have the greatest of reputations, thus agony airlines. Eventually, when merged with Piedmont it was better. They used to fly those horrifically loud , I mean loud BAC 111s.

Whomever edited this video should have never started with the plane taking off in a crosswind. If consumers were to watch this they want to think every plane takes off smooth and straight not crooked as in the beginning of this film. I miss the old Agony Airlines!

Just think this airline has purchased American Airlines.

It's called a merger. Allegheny, Mohawk, Piedmont, America West, PSA and others combined to make US Air.

I know, my father started with Piedmont in 61 and retired with USAir in 94.
