This looks as promising as HDZ, I'm still on old analog goggles and won't be giving up analog so whatever new goggles have to be backward compatible. The compelling feature for me was the adjustable diopters - I have an old Dominator 3 paired with vrx and I was not enjoying the view as much as I think I will with actual HD goggles - I was getting around to buying the V1’s until they went out of stock. I can actually justify them for aiding my vision.
@@NickBurnsFPV i fly 50/50 analog and Walksnail, I have no problems with analog after growing up in the 80s with analog tv, just the young spoiled snobs complain... I would be just as happy with more hd recording options like the runcam hybrid or baby turtle, wish there was more options like that for sub 250g drones. I'm sure because these goggles have the walksnail built in I would use it more then what i use my VRX. But i like to keep things cheaper, as for a DVR for analog i have several old systems like the monitor out of my fxt viper v2 goggles, honestly I would prefer goggles that just had an umbilical cord that goes to a base station VRX over all, have very good screens and optics with just one long cord coming out going to something that I can mount to my radio or a tripod with full modular capabilities
Having native support for Analog as well would have been a big Thing. My HDO2 are starting to fall apart and I am not a huge fan of having external stuff attached to the goggles to get Analog.
As a long time analog flyer, and a non-fan of DJI, I've been waiting to see what options and features could be brought, and at what price point. My current HDO first gens I've been using since they came out, , and have been great. These are the first digital set I've seen that I would buy. As for the foam and strap ( which looks like crap, TBH ), that is not a deal breaker, the better replacements will be out shortly. The ability to upgrade the TX, plus the smaller size / form factor are big points. A lot of updates are available for the software, according to other reviewers, just fyi ( I'm sure you know that already ).Thanks, great review !!
yes, as long as the hardware is robust enough future features are likely bountiful. Although one feature seems to be a hardware implementation limit....DVR of the inputs.
True black does get hot in the sun. Surely there will be future colors. I really don’t know if there would be but skyzone has done it and it’s a cheap way to “remake” the googles
Great overview of the new Walksnail goggles. Some interesting features at a reasonable price point. Goggle foam for the DJI goggles 2, after several different sets of foam. I gave in and bought the new foam from DJI, pricy but worked great. For me. 👍🤓
That is foam I didn’t try. I bought foam from pyrodrone and newbeedrone and one source I don’t recall. Now I can’t remember which I ended up using. 🤷🏻♂️🤦♂️
Eventually will get walksnail but still loving my dji v2 & skyzones o4x still mostly tempted by the hdzero goggle but skyo4x is so light all im wanting still is 90hz but not ready to spend 500$ for that one feature. O3 on v2 is still good enough and light analog is great.
@@NickBurnsFPV the only question I have is how to connect an analog rx. I know it has that analog input but ive never seen an analog rx connected in such a way. Also thanks for the reply! I did end up watching Mad Tech also but he didnt really show how he connected it either.

Why care about looks? no matter what we're going to look like Stevie wonder in the year 3030. Hoping these are lighter than my HDZ's because I care more about weight.
Not having Native analog seems like a huge miss for me. just having that feature could have captured a lot of digital crowd and a lot of us analogy user. I think whoever does this first wins the digital race/ overtakes DJI.
I can't envision it wasn't considered and do wish myself an analog module bay would have been part of the design. I wonder if that was a business decision based on the company being primarily WalkSnail Avatar based.
They at least have an analog input so it is possible to use them with analog and with the detachable panel on the front I'm sure someone will make an adapter to attach an analog receiver eventually. That's at least an improvement over the previous goggles and something the newer DJI goggles don't do.
After going through the comments l agree with the lot, Analog. if I knew that they would make that removable top plate with an adapter for analog module with no external wires, 100% Yes I would buy it over HDzero. That would look clean. Great show and tell.
Yes analog probably wasn’t part of their design consideration, as their video system is what they want customers buying. I do wish they would have considered it more as many still fly analog at least part of the time
@@NickBurnsFPVthe thing is companies need to shy away from this mentality as it can be a deal breaker for some people. At the moment I'm using a set of second hand DJI Goggles V2 that I got off of eBay with the BDI Adapter and Rapidfire module. I haven't been in the hobby that long but use the air units on my 5 inch quads and analog on my micro whoops. I don't want to be using hdzero, walksnail on these as it pushes the price up to double and at £180 I'd rather be building a 3.5-5 inch build. So for economics I stick with analog for having a bit of fun around the house.
The price isn't insane, that's good. HDMI in and out, good. I do like that they are suggesting the VRX board is replaceable, that definitely brings the price down on future hardware.
@@NickBurnsFPV Agree, you would have to record DVR externally via HDMI passthrough which isn't ideal. After watching Ian's review I think the real question for me is regarding glass to glass latency of these with an HDZero module vs the HDZero goggles with WS. I somehow feel having the HDZ module on these might be more acceptable than vise versa, especially if you primarily use the WS system.
@@JPspinFPV A good latency test would be valuable for sure. I will need to keep an eye out for Mads latency video. He is well equipped for that sort of test.
Hi Nick, Great video and review of the walksnail googles. I would love to fly with them. I would still need to get a analog receiver for my quads I have built, My only problem is that I would be spending a extra $120+ each quad. Thanks again for the video and information about the Walksnail X-GEN Googles.
I think they look pretty cool. I have been thinking about getting the Walksnail VRX for my current goggles but these new goggles have some pretty cool features so I may just get a pair of them instead.
Great video, nice goggles. I have and like the FS HD goggles. Am mostly worried about your mention of a new improved RX module obsoleting my old goggles. My biggest problem with WS is the size ( tooo wide at 33mm) and fragility ( plugs ) of their VTX units, esp for the 3' quads I love. If I was going to buy another new expensive goggle have to say I would be more likely to go DJI.
Yea time willl tell if the new vrx will be compatible with those FS WS googles. It certainly was be as simple of a replacement. I get pretty nervous opening googles. So many pieces in tight soaces
Neat goggles, like the Cyberpunk look for sure. Good to see more goggles with HDMI in and out. Curious to see what kinds of attachments come out for the front pannels. Thanks for the video! Cheers
@@mr_pike4609 It is my private assumption. On preorder RC things are 30% cheaper. I believe that these googles aren't different. Plus add state tax in US or VAT in Europe when they will hit local stores.
I did try analog and hdzero. Both work but we need an adapter or something to go from our analog module to hdmi input or AV in. I used an older analog adapter for DJI v1 goggles to AV in.
@@NickBurnsFPV yeah I was worried it was going to be something like that. HDZero goggles might just be the king after all even if you don’t have HDZero equipment.
My two questions are If the HDMI out will also pass thru the HDMI in? What is the electrical interface to the expansion bay in the front? Is it wired to make adding another VRX or analog easy?
There are two cables attaching the vrx. One flat ribbon cable and one cable with a mipi connect just like the cameras have. I need to test hdmi input to output but I do think it passes through
Hardly a mention about how they stack up against HDZero goggles. I use those for all my analog drones, and a couple HD zero equipped drones. What's the advantage of these over the HDZero? About the same price, with similar features.
Very valid and true. I reviewed from the stand point of a second generation of goggle. With all the firmware updates from the time received it became challenging to manage testing and retesting. I am not receiving much feedback on a needed comparison to the HDZero goggles. But certainly will keep it in mind.
I'm just glad I don't have to beta test these just to buy the V2 where they fix most but ofc not all the things they got wrong on this production run. Because that's how FPV works.
Hi nick. good vid as always. I was tempted to upgrade my v1 goggles but it not quite compelling enough to make the jump. all most though. It looks very cool. Blue lights!! Now who doesn't want the feature. If it hand an analogue module bay I'd be there. I bet we'll see something like that soon. I have a feeling the might add that feature to the module bay. Can't wait to see how Walksnail develops.
I am intrigued. There are a few things that really caught my attention. Seems like some forethought in legacy customers is in their goggle. Easy replacement of the VRX A case that fits with antenna HDMI minis Large IPD adjustments You listed some interesting cons too. Great video review Nick For most still $450 bucks is a Big expense in today's economy . I watched a Bardwell video where he was flying micro quads with every system from Analog, HDZ and WS etc and when he flew down to the house in his field the analog went fuzzy and almost unflyable as did HDzero, But when he took the WS quad behind that house it was crystal clear . That to me was something that would make me consider a HD system as my manner of flight is often behind objects as I fly only analog. But I have never not been able to continue my flights even in some of those sketchy areas it was always flyable, but to be perfectly clear in such situations would be Great Also that new goggle looks cheaply made as the angles are odd and as you say so much light leakage and not a very well fit shape for anyone in my opinion... Now the issue I still have has been the same one for years is this constant goggle changes and upgrades that never end . IF these companies would simply LISTEN to the community, surely they could create a Goggle that does what is needful and what many want and stop every couple years make a NEW Goggle...that alone has turned me off even trying a HD system , well that and the $$...LOL
Nick, mahalo for always haveng great reviews and interesting content. I'm still pretty new to FPV and started with analog micros which I love, and got started with the Cobra X box goggles which I really like. Been wanting to make the jump to HD and my drone mentor uses walksnail which he really likes, but I was leaning towards HD Zero since you could add analog to it so I could use one set of goggles with my existing analog as I slowly start adding HD drones to my fleet. Was really hoping WS would have had an integrated analog option or add-on that would work with DVR. As a beginner wanting to make the jump from analog to digital, I was hoping to find something that would allow me to use both without clunky external add-ons. I'll keep watching and hoping someone put's out a set that either integrates or has an elegant add-on so I can fly both types with one set of goggles.
Since the launch they have verbally announced they will have an analog "add on" with DVR. But at this time we still don't know how the switching will take place. From the drawings it looks like we have to take out the WS vrx and put in the analog receiver, which is likely going to be combersome if it works that way.
@@NickBurnsFPV Mahalo for the reply and info. Sure would be appealing to someone making the jump from analog to digital. They look like they're moving in a decent direction though and will keep an eye out. It's a bit of a $$ commitment moving to digital and would have been nice to have goggles that supported both while transitioning. Still a lot to learn and enjoying the ride. Really enjoy your reviews and content! Aloha! :)
@@dav77h I try not to put down any other goggle's because diversity is a win win for everyone. We get to choose what we want and it makes the company's produce better stuff. I don't think they will be far off with from dji when the 20km transmitters come out next year. I think that's why they did the changeable board but will they keep making new boards from then on I dunno hopefully they take advantage of the changeable boards and its not just a one time thing. We for sure need something like this so we can have the latest and greatest without buying a new set of goggles. Time will tell
That nose thing i struggled with dji v2 goggles they are too heavy im still stuck between avatar and dji some say avatar have less range and penetration in long range i like to fly far lets see what other people say about this I dont mind power button and also i like the size im just stuck between decision one system has 4k recording and very stabilized where as avatar i think i dont know if it has that
Yea fitment is a challenge. Our faces can be so different. I could live with the stock face fitment but would be willing to spend some to get that last 5% fitment
Dude, DJI came out with an alternative foam really soon after the V2's released. Foam is a dji product that sells for $15. That Foam makes the V2 goggles fit perfect! So comfortable too! A must have fix!
My number 1 question about these was if you see the entire screens without cutting the corners. Initially, I thought the optics were much larger in diameter vs the original WS goggles based on photos, but the outer diameter looks to have some kind of plating or polarizing over about 25% of the outer diameter?
@@nuddin99 Exactly! You are the first person I have seen mention the fringing on edges and tiny optic diameter. I had started to think my eyes must be different from everyone else's.
@@ChrisHarmon1 It bothers me so much but not many people talk about it. However, box goggles fix this issue entirely. I am likely going to sell my Walksnail goggles for Fatshark Recon HDs. My Scout HDs for analog use the same shell and its so much nicer to use. It also bothers me that my eyelashes brush the lense and smudge it. This isnt an issue on my box goggles. DJI goggles V2 solve this with a large lense but I dont want to be stuck on the DJI system. The only feature I wanted was bigger lenses but it seems like the Walksnail Goggles X dont really solve this.
@@NickBurnsFPV Thought I replied already, guess not. Yes the ring around the outer edge. It looks like mirror tinting on sunglasses or something from the videos I have seen. Can you see through this part or is it 100% opaque? I'm hoping for something like a box goggle where you don't have material in a circular shape that's in your peripheral vision.
Neat. Would it be rocket science for flight controller manufacturers and digital VTX companies to simply include a wiring harness so we don't have to perform soldering microsurgery to connect them in our builds??? I thought DJI would solve this but once again the door has been left wide open.
Still kills me that these companies haven't figured out the face shape thing. My Skyzone Sky04X goggles with the more round face plate included in the box fit perfect. DJI and Walksnail could take a page from their book for sure.
What is the screen size of these compared to the DJI V2? I'm in my 50's and use reading glasses and need the larger screen size like the V2 for them to be usable for me and I miss flying whoops around the house in the winter which in Calgary lasts a very long time. With analog I had to use box goggles for the large screen, I did try an older set of fatshark dominators but to my eyes the screens were so small it was like trying to see a 20 inch tv from a block away, I could hardly see the screen let alone what was on it.
I don't see that the true screen dimensions have been published. What might be more important is the adjustable focal range. The older geneeration of goggles only had IPD (distance between eyes) adjustment, our current goggles have the focal adjustment (in and out). Pair that with the larger FOV of 50 degrees and the ability to add diaopters for additional focal adjustments. These make them far more likely to be useable for a wider set of users. But it would be, at best a guess, to determine if they would work for you. If you could get the opportunity to try modern era goggles that would be a better predictor.
seems that its not an upgrade but just a replacement of the product, if you have the previous goggles you dont need these, and if you never had fatshark hd then just get the new one with options that in future they upgrade the board. well i like it, if i would start with fpv i would go for these. and i do believe that the company that will make HD goggles with analog module bay will take a huge piece of pie :D and by seeing this pair from FS, doesnt seem that they are interested in doing so, nor dji of course, so the chances are very small that will ever happen. Even more likely that walksnail 1s boards will progress further on cutting that weight and eliminate analog than they will put analog bay to any goggles haha
Which system has a better pic, DJI 03 or this one ? I think DJI has more range but for small backyard and school yard flying might not need DJI. Plus DJI is more $$
The only reason in that situation I can think of is that the vrx on the hdzero goggles is uncomfortable and the desire to decrease the weight while having a second set of goggles is worth the purchase price.
Maybe, it won’t likely be all that clean but the front panels might be a mounting opportunity. We saw something similar on the dji googles for analog. Problem is the inputs don’t get recorded in dvr
Thanks for this review. I'm coming back into FPV after about 4-5 years away -i.e. pre digital, so this review was really useful for me. So far the Walksnail Avatar system - specifically the Goggle X seems like the most compelling digital system. The flexibility inb terms of inputs and the replaceable receiver and removable/replaceable front plate make me think that a drop in analog receive might be do-able, which would be great as I have about 10 analog quads. I plan to upgrade probably 3 to digital so I expect I will be carrying my HDOs around unless there's an easy way to integrate analog receivers into one of the digital systems (things hanging off the side or top doesn't count as easy to me). The DJI system looks good too, but the fact they change so fast and don't seem to keep much backaward compatability (e..g. buying the previous generationg of air unit camera seems pretty hard unless you find old stock). The HD zeros are way more expensive and from what I have been told the video does not penetrate very well. I'm also very curious to know how the different HD systems get along in proximity to each other - like will my mates with DJI systems stomp on my signal or vice sersa?
I haven't heard much about DJi stomping on WS, but we now there are often problems when flying mixed systems near DJI pilots. In those cases I have heard its best to be 10-15 feet away from DJI pilots. again not sure the impact on WS.
I have heard that prediction made randomly on Facebook groups but it’s a pessimistic guess. At this time there is no solid information I have been told or read from a source I trust about price changing. Is it possible….certainly. But I don’t believe anyone that doesn’t work for caddx has any idea.
FPV Newbie here….Do these goggles come with the ability to connect a drone out of the box, or would I have to buy a video transmitter on top of these? I am looking for a goggle that can grow with me from micro to freestyle
I don't do range testing. I can't comment on that. From what I have seen in other range testing (no longer video available) is analog will out range the other systems with hdzero coming in second, dji then walksnail.
They say it supports hdzero. I'm assuming that just means it supports hdz vrx? I wish we could just have one set or goggles and not have to carry vrxs everywhere
Im new to FPV and i ordered the hdzero goggles but now i am thinking maybe i should have bought these instead. im not looking to be a racer just do freestyle and record cinematic flights. should i try to cancel my hdzero goggle order and buy these or stay with hdzero? i like the better image quality over the rainbow pixels but i know they make vrx but idk how well that will work. i wish hdzero would support the racing community and the DJI-like community that wants better image quality in the drone. what do you all with more experience think?
If you don't think you will fly hdzero or analog at any time it would be better to go with the goggles x. I worry the latency with the goggles x and analog module will not get resolved with software so I have to consider the goggles x as walksnail only goggles.
@@NickBurnsFPV currently the only drone I have is the Tinyhawk 3 freestyle HD. I bought the bnf from racedayquads and I seen review videos that said it’s a good begginner drone. I haven’t flown it yet though since my goggles haven’t arrived Iv just been practicing on the TRYP simulator.
@@NickBurnsFPV I love it. Iv played it for around 15 hours so far. The graphics are amazing. I’m curious how flying in the sim translates to irl though
@@usernamenotavailable4072 I don't sim very much. From what I have experienced its very good to get the mechanics of flight and what we need to do with our finger to control the quad. Of course our eyes and brain are receiving training as well. The main difference is once we fly in real life the flight is just that real and we can be nervous and that can cause us to take a step back from our sim training. As now we are responsible for what happens to the quad and anything in our flight space. But I think using a simulator is a very very good idea.
I dont want to look like a partypooper or someone negative, but it feels to me like companies are currently trying to push out more and more products as fast as possible, to just make a V2, V3 ecc the next day.. the R&D is pushed to customers.. stuff is getting more and more expensive (which is fair with the current world economics ecc) but quality of stuff seems to get cheaper and innovation has stalled a bit too. Might just be me feeling that way, not sure.. Like why the hell are we going 10 steps back and not having a power button on these? Also the strap looks cheap to me.. oh hell.. what do I know though. Still flying my Sky04x with WS VRX stuck to it like a pleb.. Nice and honest review though Nick!
In my perspective it pretty much always been this way. The companies we have in FPV are microscopic compared to other electronic manufacturers. The overall teams may only be 1 or 2 people serving multiple purposes. Innovation recently has been much faster paced than when I started in 2015. I think the first 4+ years we only had analog and focused on more powerful vtx and better cameras. We had 1 or 2 AIOs and sometimes had to manually balance props. Reliability issues were really bad, very common to experience fires on first battery plug in. As reviewing back then, some products/quads were actually bad...hardly flyable....if they didn't catch fire. FPV is much more stable and reliable now and not only do we have analog, we have 3 other video systems.
@@NickBurnsFPV that is actually something I didn’t consider.. I started FPV just shortly before DJI came out with their system (3 years ago?). I did experience some reliability issues, but very very little. I dont know.. I have been spending close to no money these past 4 months on FPV gear (due to my wallet being slimmer than a pancake atm) and it seems to me like the same micros are released with a V behind their name.. a year and a half to two years ago we had new motors coming out, new frames, new lipos, new connectors. I could actually see it from your point of view and say that maybe we are coming close to pinpointing what works. Referring back to these goggles though, why the hell didn’t they stick an on off button on there. Remember how the FPV community begged FS for so long to put one on their goggles? 😂
@@MasterApeFPV The companies do make small changes and call them a v2. I get why they do it, but I also think they leave resellers with the parts for v1 that turned out to be replaced. I would be very curious how much dead stock resellers have. I have no idea why they wouldn't include a hardware power button, they indicated they took input from the community. I can't imagine a sample of the fpv community that wouldn't want a power button. I used the "hardware power button" as the soft touch power buttons consume some amount of energy to be able to be "soft touch" like on the orqa goggles.
So I have a question I was looking to upgrade my goggles. But my whole Fleet is analog could you connect a a/v analog module to this which module does anyone recommend and can you connect it with no issues or how do you modify it
Yes, we can but at this time its going to be somewhat DIY as there isn't an analog module mount made for this goggle. And the dvr does not record the AV or hdmi inputs. To test I used the analog module made for the dji goggles, NOT the goggles2.
Well, I received mine today, December 8, 2023 from Race Day Quads in Orlando. I live just south of Orlando in Winter Haven. Was really looking forward to this as they would be my first digital as I’ve stayed with analog. I do have a large head, not as large as yours, but the damn goggles don’t fit at all. TERRIBLE. I can stick my thumb against the cheek of my face and not touch the rubber face plate seal. Also, if I wear them for more than a few minutes, the bridge in my nose starts hurting and in fact, I actually have a little bruise on it from screwing around with these goggles, the other thing that I could not do was get the goggles to turn off the sensor that keeps the screens on, you could go to it, but it would not respond to the command to turn it off. So yes, I’m bummed out I don’t think it should be my job to go out and buy Replacement face seals till I get one that fits me. A friend of mine who is from China put them on, and of course they fit his face along with the strap having plenty of room to fit correctly around his head . I would think ergonomics and design would have been an important factor for non-Asian individuals but I guess not. I don’t have this fit problem with the sky zone. 0X4, or FatShark or orca fitting my face, whereas I would have to get a different face seal.
My brand new goggles X keeps crashing - UI and buttons lock up after 10 to 20 minutes (ie warmed up) FPV feed still plays in background - another 10 or so minutes and video feed locks up too. Once warmed up it does this every 2 or 3 minutes. Im in the UK - does anyone know where i can get help sorting this issue or replacing these ?

459 is too much. The quest 3 vr headset is 499. A whole Playstation 5 is 499. Goggles that are only good for fpv 459. Eventually, the prices will get better, though.
Not sure we will see much better pricing on “hero” line of googles for awhile. The prices have been climbing for the last few years. The older google prices are coming down. I think new tech and the small segment of fpv doesn’t allow for much price flexibility
Yep. Economy of scale. Millions buying Playstation vs thousands buying FPV goggles. Different ball game. I feel like the price point here is actually pretty incredible.
if you take the goggles off the displays turn off. This allows for battery saving while not flying but allows us not to wait for the goggles to boot up if we power them down.

As always, great review! Good for WS, looks like they've listened to a lot of what the community was asking. Very thorough, thanks Nick! 🤙
Having native support for Analog as well would have been a big Thing. My HDO2 are starting to fall apart and I am not a huge fan of having external stuff attached to the goggles to get Analog.
my HDZ googles with analog bay + SMA adapter dont fit the incl. carry bag and with VRX module its heeavyy
These do support analog in the same way that the DJI v2s did via a headphone jack.
@@ChrisHarmon1 Yes but native would be a much cleaner solution
@@ChrisHarmon1 ugggh thats crappy ^^ proper module bay connection is best
Analog didn’t seem to be part of the design intent. If it were inputs would record on the dvr.
Looks really nice, really like the upgradeability part of it. only downside is the color, black items just get annoyingly hot when out in the sun.

They are... 😂 But so are all other digital goggles

Sometimes it might just something to complain about.

I wanna try this hd stuff it looks really fun haven't been in the fpv hobby for about a year I want to get back in it
The price isn't insane, that's good. HDMI in and out, good. I do like that they are suggesting the VRX board is replaceable, that definitely brings the price down on future hardware.
Totally agree. I do wish dvr recorded hdmi input

Awesome review, Nick! 😃
Very interesting goggles! But I still would like to see it working with analog...
Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
It can work with an adapter and the AV input. It’s clunky and the dvr doesn’t record the inputs
Cheers
I do wish the hdmi input was included in dvr functions
The price sounds expensive, but it is less than my Sky04x at launch. Caddx is really doing a great job all around.
This ir preorder price. Normally it willl be like 600-700 USD/EUR.

@@mr_pike4609 It is my private assumption. On preorder RC things are 30% cheaper. I believe that these googles aren't different. Plus add state tax in US or VAT in Europe when they will hit local stores.
Only just started the video but I was about to hit the pre-order button so I am stoked I can watch this first to help the decision!
Did you try the AV in for analog? That really is the selling point for me.
Oh wow you can't record DVR from the HDMI or AV input....
That's a big pass for me now.
I did try analog and hdzero. Both work but we need an adapter or something to go from our analog module to hdmi input or AV in. I used an older analog adapter for DJI v1 goggles to AV in.
Correct no DVR for the hdmi or AV input.
@@NickBurnsFPV yeah I was worried it was going to be something like that.
HDZero goggles might just be the king after all even if you don’t have HDZero equipment.
My two questions are
If the HDMI out will also pass thru the HDMI in?
What is the electrical interface to the expansion bay in the front? Is it wired to make adding another VRX or analog easy?
There are two cables attaching the vrx. One flat ribbon cable and one cable with a mipi connect just like the cameras have. I need to test hdmi input to output but I do think it passes through
So they advertise that the goggles supposed to support Analog, Walksnail, and HD Zero? Do they not do that?
they do via the hdmi and AV inputs. But not natively out of the box and the dvr does not record the inputs.

Is it really compatible with HDZero? Because that would be a plus for me...
A show of how analog looks would be awesome too.
only with hdmi input.
@@NickBurnsFPV Dishonest marketing, what a surprise. Thanks! Another buy to avoid.
Maybe I missed it. But what is latency like compared to the original goggles or HD Zero?
I haven’t tested latency. I will leave that to others.

Great video review Nick
For most still $450 bucks is a Big expense in today's economy . But I have never not been able to continue my flights even in some of those sketchy areas it was always flyable, but to be perfectly clear in such situations would be Great
Also that new goggle looks cheaply made as the angles are odd and as you say so much light leakage and not a very well fit shape for anyone in my opinion...
I do wish they would have pursued more community input much like HDZero did. Not just the input from a small team.
HDMI IN /HDMI OUT Goooooooood!!!
please be aware inputs aren't recorded by the DVR.
Aloha! :)
Oh man, they switched the order of the record and back buttons vs the old goggles.

DJI GOGGLES SOLID!! Solid! Solid!!!
My number 1 question about these was if you see the entire screens without cutting the corners. Initially, I thought the optics were much larger in diameter vs the original WS goggles based on photos, but the outer diameter looks to have some kind of plating or polarizing over about 25% of the outer diameter?
Do you mean the ring around the lenses? Sorry trying to be sure I understand correctly
This is my concern as well. My current walksnail goggles causes blurry mess on the edges of the display because the optics are so small.
We do have a few flight controllers with a plug on them for the DJI video system. We haven't seen them much in the micro quad arena.

I just ordered a set. What battery works best?
seems that its not an upgrade but just a replacement of the product, if you have the previous goggles you dont need these, and if you never had fatshark hd then just get the new one with options that in future they upgrade the board. well i like it, if i would start with fpv i would go for these.
and i do believe that the company that will make HD goggles with analog module bay will take a huge piece of pie :D and by seeing this pair from FS, doesnt seem that they are interested in doing so, nor dji of course, so the chances are very small that will ever happen. Even more likely that walksnail 1s boards will progress further on cutting that weight and eliminate analog than they will put analog bay to any goggles haha
Do the goggles x have head tracking for camera movement?

No has mentioned this but does it make sense to purchase these? Asking because I have the HDZero + WS VRX. Any downsides sticking with the VRX?
The only reason in that situation I can think of is that the vrx on the hdzero goggles is uncomfortable and the desire to decrease the weight while having a second set of goggles is worth the purchase price.
Hi Nick. I have a lot of pressure on my nose with the Fatshark dominator hd. How does the new avatar X compare with nose pressure? Thanks.

Maybe, it won’t likely be all that clean but the front panels might be a mounting opportunity. We saw something similar on the dji googles for analog. Problem is the inputs don’t get recorded in dvr
Yeah I was thinking more of hybrid analog and walksnail upgraded board but yeah the lack of dvr is not encouraging
I might have miss this detail but I can we use these goggles for analog without other equipement? Like right of the box?
No no analog module included
@@NickBurnsFPV Apparently, Caddx just updated the goggles X to add Compatible Analog module.
Will the price of the Avatar Goggles X increase after the initial pre-order (currently $459 USD)?
I have heard that prediction made randomly on Facebook groups but it’s a pessimistic guess. At this time there is no solid information I have been told or read from a source I trust about price changing. Is it possible….certainly. But I don’t believe anyone that doesn’t work for caddx has any idea.
FPV Newbie here….Do these goggles come with the ability to connect a drone out of the box, or would I have to buy a video transmitter on top of these? I am looking for a goggle that can grow with me from micro to freestyle
This has an internal receiver for connecting to a walksnail avatar transmission system in a quad/drone.
Newbie too, i use walksnail as my first googles, because X can HDMI input to play Liffoff
Which is better walksnail or hd zero? Which has a longer range?
I don't do range testing. I can't comment on that. From what I have seen in other range testing (no longer video available) is analog will out range the other systems with hdzero coming in second, dji then walksnail.

I read on Facebook that someone claims the vtx is transmitting a wifi acces point. Does anyone know if that's true? The ssid may be hidden.
Is the IPD truely 54 - 74mm? I really need something around 55mm.
Yes but measuring is challenging down to the mm.

Dld the same with DJI2 goggles
So I have a question I was looking to upgrade my goggles. But my whole Fleet is analog could you connect a a/v analog module to this which module does anyone recommend and can you connect it with no issues or how do you modify it
Yes, we can but at this time its going to be somewhat DIY as there isn't an analog module mount made for this goggle. And the dvr does not record the AV or hdmi inputs. To test I used the analog module made for the dji goggles, NOT the goggles2.
So tempting🤔 these are nice i actually wouldn't mind having them i still want the hdzero gogs though 😁.....😂✌🏽
The hdzero googles are still more flexible. Keeps our options open

@@NickBurnsFPV 😁👍🏼
@@scu-dubI see I posted twice. Sorry about that. I was on my phone earlier.
@@NickBurnsFPV no prob lol 😁👍🏽
No power buttom?😢 i have the battery on all my goggles on the headstrap, I don't like pulling and reatatching the cord
yes, no power button
They need to make a VRX that can also pick up the DJI signal then they would sell a lot.
They would and make a titanic enemy 😬
Meh, they already burned that bridge, they should just make the vrx for DJI and salt that earth. @@NickBurnsFPV
@@trajanfpv you mean with the rumored no WS in BNFs?
@@NickBurnsFPV no, with caddx developing their own HD system the whole time they were the exclusive partner for DJI.
Great review thanks. I would like to see how well these are going to work with fatshark vrx.
Fatshark vrx? Do you mean analog module?
@@NickBurnsFPV the external hdzero module using hdmi
@@winder6 I did test that the hdzero vrx works with the input, but I suspect you might like to see a latency test?
@@NickBurnsFPV cool thanks. I think mads tech has done some latency tests. Cheers
@@winder6He has pretty much confirmed to me he plans on doing latency testing against various goggles.
Wow🤩🤩🤩😍😍😍😍
With the uncertainty of DJI and their requirements I've been on the fence between WalkSnail and DJI
Walksnail trust me.
My main worry about dji is they haven’t shown a desire for long term compatibility.
Native analog.
we need an adapter like the dji goggles v1/v2 for AV input to use those modules.
Are native 4:3"in the goggles? Please let me know thx
The panels are native 16:9 but can display a 4:3 image
Ive needed foam pads with all my googles
The traditional analog goggles and hdzero googles face foam has worked fine for me. But I don’t get to fussy about light leak etc
no Powerbuttom, always turn the lipo on and off that suck, sorry, just as others pack 2 different foams with it, why they not. i hope they change it
In-line power switches are a common aftermarket accessory for FPV goggles.
Will there be a fatshark variation?
Don’t know. These could be a collaboration with fatshark or not. That is information I am not privy to
My brand new goggles X keeps crashing - UI and buttons lock up after 10 to 20 minutes (ie warmed up) FPV feed still plays in background - another 10 or so minutes and video feed locks up too. Once warmed up it does this every 2 or 3 minutes. Im in the UK - does anyone know where i can get help sorting this issue or replacing these ?
have you tried contacting the manufacturer? They are likely out on holiday until later in the month now.
Yeah i tried contacting caddx and no replies to my contact form posts. My retailer has taken them back and has recieved more stock so is going to replace them which hopefully happens in a timely way as itching to get the ar wing pro in the air
I literally bought a dominator HD google 20 mins ago... >:/
Return them! They announced these a month ago
Can you use HD Zero?
via hdmi input yes.
Ok. Darn it. I think I need them. The front plate I think will need to be replaced with something non glossy.
I tend to keep my skyzone goggle strap pretty tight, also sporting 7 5/8 beach ball skull
Hey big head buddies too 😁.
The v1 are still $499 and many hold up their price. Doubt they will come down buying used is the only other option.
Where's Bardwell on this???
I believe he is on a break. Maybe he will have a video up after his break.
do you have to update firmware to use them
I might not understand the question. Do we "have" to, no.... but its best to match firmware on the goggles and vtx for best signal and image quality.
the power button thing kills me, I can't understand what's so damn difficult about adding one
Lol I don’t know why either. A simple switch like HDZero googles would be great
What is the point of the proximity sensor?
if you take the goggles off the displays turn off. This allows for battery saving while not flying but allows us not to wait for the goggles to boot up if we power them down.
Who today is not running a 2600 to 4000 lion 4s battery to power their goggles? Battery saving not an issue. Caddx is out of touch with the hobby!@@NickBurnsFPV
@@JDDupuy I can't comment on the "who" aspect, I haven't done a survey on such a topic but a good one for the future. I do still use the stock battery on the DJI goggles 2 if that counts for anything.
Wow that was under-whelming. No analog??? Seems to me this change was more for Caddx's manufacturing benefit than anything else.
I was hoping for analog as well. Well we kind of got a tease of analog with the inputs, but without DVR including the inputs its not very useful....for many that have commented.
