Macron is no different than any other mainstream politicians in France. They promise and boast about the things they'll do without being able to deliver and at the end the country remain the same and all the problems are not addressed. This has been the case in France for decades now.
If nationalism wins in europe this will break up the western bloc, and then we're doomed. This is not the 1900s. All of the issue of France cannot be summed up in two sentences related to tax and labor laws. To think in a such a way is obtuse and lacks nuance.
The basis of problem is from lack of local autonomy on part of the republic related to EU , but there are so many issue tacked onto currency.
In regards to social welfare, any citizen (and non-citizen to a degree) is entitled to suite of benefits from the French government..ie child care, home care, food stipend, education.
So...if you are in the republique, it is given. The government of France estimates are 5 million immigrants due to distribution of these benefits.
Hitler turned the 1930s German economy around in 3 years to be an economic powerhouse. He used similar social/economic policies as Le Pen advocates.
