    How do you groom a dog, or a Samoyed? This is part 1 of a 4 part series, explaining just how to groom a dog, or a Samoyed, who is extremely poofy.

      He wasn’t even blowing his coat. Was just a normal shed. Took 2 hours of grooming.

    What a beauty! I don’t have a long haired dog but I will checking out the other parts just because that is an awesome dog. It’s better than what’s on TV. Thanks for making a channel for Yeti!

      Ebony, thank you so much for watching and commenting. Even if you have a short haired dog, you could use the shedding blade to help smooth out the loose furs. Yeti’s Dad, is an international champion. We adore Yeti and he has brought us so much love and silliness. He loves doing TH-cam and watching himself on TV. We have a lot of fun doing videos. He helps keep me motivated.

    Really like that brush, we just use a pin comb on Meiko works well but pulls sometimes!

    • @YetisPlace
      @YetisPlace  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have a pin comb, but I prefer the swivel head rake. The pin does pull their thick coat. Some people prefer using the comb, others prefer a swivel headed rake. It’s up to personal preference. You can order the rake from the blue links in the video’s description.

    My girl sammy really enjoys brushing while my little boy is whining non stop. He is the most dramatic samoyed I have ever owned ;)

      Those boys are certainly drama queens. So glad to hear your girl enjoys being brushed. She knows she’s getting pretty.

      @@YetisPlace They really are! I have owned many samoyeds and the boys were acting like little children very often. Atleast most of the girls I had weren't that dramatic ;). The girl I have right now is probably the calmest samoyed I ever had, she likes brushing, doesn't have a big hunting instinct and is overall pretty quiet. And like you said she knows she is getting pretty! She enjoys swimming in lakes or in the sea but she hates having wet feet so she usually avoids puddles. My boy is like the opposite but honestly they both are perfect. They only share about 2 or 3 things other then having the same breed. They both go crazy over fruits (especially bananas and oranges) and they really enjoy swimming and pulling.

    • @YetisPlace

      It’s amazing how different all their personalities are from another. Girls are sweet and boys will be boys. They both have such great personalities and are such silly, humorous dogs.

    I adopted a dog a couple weeks ago and he is the furriest dog I have ever owned. I was told he had German Shepherd and husky in him. I also think there is golden retriever and corgi or basset hound. I am going to buy the brushes you show. I have just a cat brush right now, lol. My sweet Fern who passed away last year was a short haired dog and needed nothing more than a wipe down.

    • @YetisPlace
      @YetisPlace  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I saw you dog, Peldyn! He is adorable! A cat brush will not suffice for a larger dog. You can click on the links in my description to pull up the tools I use for Yeti. They work well. Enjoy your new fuzzy baby. He is adorable!

      40 minutes was just for this video. Between all 4 videos within this series, I spent 2 and a half hours grooming him. Exhausted my camera’s battery. It ended at just the perfect moment.

    • @YetisPlace

      It’s a double headed grooming rake, with swivel heads. I don’t remember where I got it, as it’s really old. It’s a great tool. Go to our store, at Kit.co/YetisPlace and click on our section, grooming tools. You’ll find one just like it.

      Thank you! Wonderful, double coated, northern breed dog. He was just normal shedding, nothing major. Not blowing his coat. Just wait until video #4 of this series comes out, where I dump out the bag of collected dog fur from all 4 previous videos. I thought peeps would want to see that. The challenges of grooming a Samoyed are real.

    I want one so bad but she doesn't want any dog so any of u have any ideas I have watch videos but the won't work on Indian parents

    • @YetisPlace
      @YetisPlace  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      If you still live with your parents, Smitraj Patel, you will have to listen to them. If they don’t want a dog, then you must respect what your parents tell you. A Samoyed, in India, would not do well, unless they have central air conditioning. The temps and humidity would be too extreme for them.

    How often should u groom a samoyed...just curious :

    • @YetisPlace
      @YetisPlace  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hello, Detailed lenny face. That’s a wonderful question. You should ideally, groom a Samoyed everyday, or every other day. It takes work to groom a Samoyed and multiple brushes. They don’t like sitting still for too long. It takes awhile to groom them, so be sure to reward with treats and plenty of playtime afterwards. Thank you for the great question. You can check out this quick run through I did with Yeti. m.th-cam.com/video/QwAzSmjk-NI/w-d-xo.html

    do you need to groom a samoyed puppy?

    • @YetisPlace
      @YetisPlace  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes. The earlier you begin, the easier they are to keep under control. When they’re young, you can get them used to being groomed.

    • @YetisPlace
      @YetisPlace  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You should groom a Sammy a few times per week.

    • @frosty8597
      @frosty8597 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeti’s Place ok thanks! I was just about to ask you if you absolutely need to groom them everyday but a few times is even better! Thanks!

    • @YetisPlace
      @YetisPlace  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ideally, everyday is best. But, it takes time to get through their full coats. So, if it’s a few times a week, that’s just as good.
