It's good to see that someone still cares about the B-17. Though everything about this was inaccurate. From the game perspective, you never see formations like this, and nobody wants to work with bombers at all unless you're in a squad with friends. From the historical viewpoint, that's not what a B-17 formation looks like. A typical B-17 formation is stacked in slant formations to provide maximum defensive firepower. But still, not bad. I found it entertaining.
Wonderful video. So many years removed it's hard to appreciate that half of US bomber crewmen in 8th Air Force were casualties in WW2. My War Thunder videos are all gameplay (thus far) but I love your cinematic style here.
Very good script, outstanding graphics! Thank you for putting this video together. Excellent story follow-through and editing. As a Veteran who has lived (or survived) war, I would suggest focusing on a crew from either side (in this case, Germans or Americans), and depicting the action from their perspective. That would allow the viewer to identify with "someone" and follow the action as it was unfolding under their eyes. In any case, you got my attention, great work, and also very respectful of the people involved in those battles without any judgmental opinion, regardless of national or political affiliation. Sincerely, Ciao, L
Thank you Lancelot. I actually would have loved to focus on the crew more, but fortunately this particular game does not have the interiors of the aircraft modeled. They way I achieve the few interior shots in the film was by clipping the camera through the plane and taking a still shot. I plan on making a more crew oriented film with the new IL-2 Battle of Stalingrad. Cheers, N8
IIN8II Hi N8, well, I am looking for your next production, you have a lot of talent. BTW, the (re-) action to battle damage is very realistic, often engine that catches fire is feathered by the pilot or self-destructs, the trajectory of tracer bullets is very similar to water coming out of a hose under pressure angling towards the ground. Excellent work, Ciao, L
Nice work on the video, I know that must have been a lot of work put into it! I used to play War Thunder and the Fortresses were my favorite ones to fly.
Amazing video although the only small thing that bugged me was the lack of voices, now you did a good job voicing for one of the crewmembers of one of these Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress, but lack of the voices from the rest of the bomber crew as well as those of the other bombers in the formation and those of the Me-109s would of really gave this video even more depth and human emotion. But still this is amazing video.
By the time the B-17 G was in service, the P-51 was too. Very rarely did they not have fighter escort if at all because of the Mustang's incredible range.
Is it possible that there were fighters in front and behind the bombers? If the pilot sees fighters at 12 o clock it doesnt mean that there are only fighters at 12 o clock ;P
IIN8II That's true - But only noticed it, because right after that, the video shows fighters coming from the back, which then makes the warning of fighters 12 o clock seems strange at that point in the video. Hell maybe the warning isn't even from the B-17 we see in the video after that :) Was just regarding the edit of the video. It's not because I don't like it, it's great.
Half an hour later, they crash into the French countryside because one engine isn't enough to maintain altitude. With two, you could barely stay in the air. Now once you made it to Normandy or Calais, you could loose the third engine since from there, you could glide to England.
its amazing to think something that large packing so much firepower during WWII still flies with 1 operational engine... and thousands of bullets. probably broken rudden and landing gears as well as missing windshields... and other stuff...
I'm not gonna lie I hate when people say that. It's because everyone gets it. You can't educate people on stuff they already know so what is the point of trying?
Which one you prefer, going back home with one engine or with no engine? Honestly going back with one engine is already good enough, no one want's to glide back home with no engine left.
They have to make a video game like this soon, why hasn't this happened? Could be a strategy game with arcade elements, or a squad based type of game like Brothers in Arms.
one thing about the b 17 if it lost 2 enigens it could still fly nut if it lost 3 the remaing engine could not provide enouh lift to keep it up it would crash my greatgrandfather found this out the hard why he fly durinnig world war 2 and lost 2 of the engines and just before landing his third flared out he manged to crash land it but as he said there was no way we could have flowne for more thean 15 min if that we were going to crash it took all i had just to keep her up instead of rolling over but good video
very true, I was dropping alt rapidly to keep my speed up so i could control it. There we many real life accounts of planes in similar situations the would continue towards home as long as possible before bailing out.
yep though the b 17 was very hard to shoot down the germans had to swam it to kill it even when they thought it was going down the bloody thing woould come back and fight some more
NightWallker the b17 was easy to shot down with the German 30mm, the round would rip strait though the b17s. a friend of my grandpa was a pilot for the Luftwaffe, he said that the 30mm would take down a b17 in 3 to 6 shots, and the gunners/pilots would be ripped apart if a 30mm hit them. he clamed 6 b17 and 18 fighters kills I think I can't remember right now
Marcus Kenny well if ya grand pa did shoot down that many then shut he should talk to my moms great grand dad or my great grand dad on my Moms side he flew the Yakovlve 9 aka the yak 9 who knows mabey my moms great grandad fought yours over Russia though in a fight I think the yak 9 would beat the bf 109 in a climb and turn though the bf 109 had some nice arments
Marcus Kenny one last thing what kind of shells was he using in his bf 109 incendiary or he if later possible if incendiary then well fuck both are nasty do know my grandad says he got at about 14 bf109 kills in his sqaud on his way out but respect for both sides they both fought like hell
I am toying with the idea of having a casting call for voice actors. I'll post a video about with details if I decide to go that route. So be sure to check back.
Thank, For this track I used a production track from sony. I just upgraded to vegas pro 13 and it came with some free production music. Usually I will use music from the TH-cam library, Machinima Sound, Free Music Archive etc for monetizable music.
Great movie ! You will not prompt the name of the music? I would be very grateful! :) P.s. translated by Google with the Russian , so sorry for the errors = )

This was made from the multiplayer "Guardian Angels" mission
you have a movie named after the drawing you have
I saw you on a tf2 vid
The B-17 was a very astonishing aircraft of it's era, it deserves to still be cared about.
Love the movie, like i loved Mig Alley and Battle for Berlin! Keep up the good work!! Thumb Up!!
Every time I watch this video I get chills run down my back..
Wonderful video. So many years removed it's hard to appreciate that half of US bomber crewmen in 8th Air Force were casualties in WW2. My War Thunder videos are all gameplay (thus far) but I love your cinematic style here.
Parents: awww his playing with his toys!

This can't have been recorded from a Multiplayer event, they look all so organized... Normally all teams looks like crazy... Or is just Arcade...
i think it was a custom battle between friends
It was the "Guardian Angel" multiplayer mission. I do believe it is also available in custom battles now
Its simulator
Nice work on the video, I know that must have been a lot of work put into it! I used to play War Thunder and the Fortresses were my favorite ones to fly.
"lost engine 2" that was engine 3 m8
then at the end he says "lost #4 engine" that was engine #1. the engines are counted from port to starboard
He said "we lost an engine too"
no it was engine 2
maldoes
ikr
I've been thinking about getting into this game. I remember Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe - I loved that game!
Really love this - great art - thank you for creating and sharing this, an inspiration!
Wow. Makes the war scheme quite surreal. Very nicely crafted, I love the B-17.
In-Game Replay with added Speech, Music and Camera wobbling :D
Damn...flying with one engine...
Yep the b-17 could manage that in real life...
+Fatal_Taco But not maintain altitude. One engine means walking home.
+Broadside cough cough b17..
+Broadside b-17's could handle 1 engine.. But they had a huge weak spot fuel tanks in the wings. Thats why they needed escorts
+Its Owen yeah there fuel weak spot 😁

Bone chilling goose bumps every were you nailed how accurate that was well done.
Well done, My Great Grand Pa Was very happy after watching this. He was a Dorsal Turret Gunner on A b17G. Good job
Thank you and your Great Grand Pa very much. I am honored that he enjoyed my film!
He did. Thank You. This is why I love War thunder!
Why so many hate comments? Personally I don’t care if it’s historically inaccurate or the voice acting sucked, the man put effort into his work.
This is really epic, loving the engine sounds. Keep up the good work
WOW Frigging awesome Buddy.
Beautiful editing and post production, looks so real, could be a sceen straight from the movie 'Fortress' EPIC..
Thank you very much!
Absolutely stunning work!
THIS IS GREAT
Woah from 2014
This is just awseome , really nice work
This Video gave me chills... Good Job dude
Thank you!
Are you... This is amazing! How did you make this look so awesome?! Really good video!
Nice job dude for a second I thought it was taken out of a movie
1:06 it’s actually engine 3,goes from left to right
By the time the B-17 G was in service, the P-51 was too. Very rarely did they not have fighter escort if at all because of the Mustang's incredible range.
So sad that this kind of battles were real just like 60 years ago. Doesnt matter if US or German pilots, so many humans died.
70 years ;)
60 million lives....gone
Got to love this ;D B17 i salute your durability!
Awesome Vid... Should be used for Game Trailer, ill be sending this to my buds
Great video!
The fact that this... Was made in War Thunder. It blows my damn mind.
you need more subs m8. this is too good.
Thanks, share with your friends ;P
oh man, you can be so proud of your video.
Just look at all those veterans in the comment section that know what they are talking about.
"Fighter coming in at 12 o clock" - isn't that at the front? Video showed fighter coming in from the back.
Is it possible that there were fighters in front and behind the bombers? If the pilot sees fighters at 12 o clock it doesnt mean that there are only fighters at 12 o clock ;P

Was just regarding the edit of the video. It's not because I don't like it, it's great.
if you watch the vid from where the footage was taken, you can see that there were actually fighters at 12 o clock.
If only more people could see what you make amazing just amazing
Thank you sir! (tell your friends ;P)
As a old man I must say the graphics are pretty damn good.
hard to limp back to base with unresponsive hydraulics and damaged engines, its like waiting for your own doom
Great video man!!!!! I like it! Just keep doing this. ;-)
yeah the cinematics were great but the voice acting could use some work.
lol my first attempt
"jerry down"
Half an hour later, they crash into the French countryside because one engine isn't enough to maintain altitude. With two, you could barely stay in the air. Now once you made it to Normandy or Calais, you could loose the third engine since from there, you could glide to England.
Превосходно! Никогда ещё не видео такого красивого и зрелищного видео по War Thunder!
Spasibo!
That was amazing that was like watching saving private Ryan it was grinningly intense no lie
Most B-17 casualties were made because planes were damaged when attacking a B-17 formation, forcing the plane to crash into a B-17.
thats a great short film really like it
Now that is a short film! LIKE!
Thank you!
Amazing Video, great work
btw, i miss the old sound of the german 20mm
Duuude, so well done!
its amazing to think something that large packing so much firepower during WWII still flies with 1 operational engine... and thousands of bullets. probably broken rudden and landing gears as well as missing windshields... and other stuff...
_AkumaGaming_ well to be fair a b 17 can't fly on one engine min is 2
+Bob Graser It can still glide.
Good short film, but everyone was just saying: nice shot!.... oh Jesus another one
I hope you younger guys realize your grandfathers and great grandfathers this was real not a video game
Woah, really? I thought this wasn't a real event in history and was simply made up for this one game!
Yeah I know that's why I started to play this game , to feel what they felt.
M8 my great grandpa flew p-47s
the fact that your username is "Darkpassenger 1" just suggest you are no older than 19
I'm not gonna lie I hate when people say that. It's because everyone gets it. You can't educate people on stuff they already know so what is the point of trying?
BLOODY GREAT MATE MADE ME SHED A TEAR
Awesome video :)
hey 5OReapers! I didn't expect to see you here! I didn't know you were a war thunder fan too!
Yeah it's a pretty good game :)
5OReapers small TH-cam World!

Cats are awesome, cats are cute!! Cats are da best animals in da world!!!
At least they made it home, my Great Uncle didn't.
Number 4 engine is still running while engine 1 2 & 3 are out
Awesome as allways
Thank you Mikkel
IIN8II No Thanks to you for making this.
Which one you prefer, going back home with one engine or with no engine? Honestly going back with one engine is already good enough, no one want's to glide back home with no engine left.
At 1:09 you lost engine No. 3, not 2. UNSUBSCRIBED!
Just kidding, buddy. I love your stuff. :D
lol yeah had a real dyslexic moment when making this one....
cheers!
damn that was amazing...but it still misses some effects to voice like radio effect ya know what i mean...liked and subscribed
Great video!
Wish I could achieve that visual style in WarThunder, but the replay function is just so hard to control...
Just takes a good amount of practice. Keep at it!
Actually,you did,you are great :)
BRAVO! BRAVO! A FLYING FORTRESS FLYING WITH ONE ENGINE??. BRAVO!,!
why would they lost fighter escort when RETURNING to base?
They have to make a video game like this soon, why hasn't this happened? Could be a strategy game with arcade elements, or a squad based type of game like Brothers in Arms.

Cool fact, the b17 can complete its mission with 2 engine's
I wish I could have a custom battle where we staged a battle with an organized flight in. I get 20 fps when I'm not doing anything though.
If you read any historical accounts from the pilots of the B 17 one engine left and it's time to bail out.
Fighters coming in 12 o clock.
*plane arrives from the back*
omg very nice film!
can you make german vs cccp dogfight film?
i want show them...
Gave me chills!
Ha figured as much, well I can yell as much as I want in my new place. so if you need something don't hesitate.
This is why they used P-51 escort. :)
Hung-Tam Yie earlier models had a cockpit familiar to the Germans and would ACTUALLY accidentally get shot down my allied gunners
100k views!
+Gamerstarz111 pretty sure he won't if you just blatantly ask
+Gamerstarz111 plus you already at 1250+ subscribers ;-;
It Deserves the Views. Very Impresive Film... Can you Tell me how You filmed it?
200K
IIN8II dude this actually gave me chills
Holy shit, it's been 2 years...
Great video!
I'll be picky and say that the plane lost the #3 engine, not #2, hehe :)
yea had a dyslexic moment lol.
Holy shit nice man. You could use more voice actors tho, like when you asked "How you boys doing back there?". Maybe I could help ^^.
I am toying with the idea of having a casting call for voice actors. I'll post a video about with details if I decide to go that route. So be sure to check back.
How did you do this it should be a movie
one does not simply leave a group of bombers alone without escort, well, maybe if its 1942/43
Can you pls redo this with the new war thunder graphics
very nice!! :) :D
EPIC! nothing else to say o.O
+IIN8II, please do a movie about the seriously damaged B17 escorted by a german pilot who risked his live to get it back home safely
0:14 How do you do such camera angles? Its not even in the warthunder camera preset.
a pretty damn good video
Nice voice acting, where do you usually find musics for your video ??
Thank, For this track I used a production track from sony. I just upgraded to vegas pro 13 and it came with some free production music. Usually I will use music from the TH-cam library, Machinima Sound, Free Music Archive etc for monetizable music.
Still good six years later
Thanks!
Really good!
I would love to be a gunner in one of those monsters.
Great movie ! You will not prompt the name of the music? I would be very grateful! :)
P.s. translated by Google with the Russian , so sorry for the errors = )
Hey guys, how I can remove the interface of the replays?
left alt z (i think)
IIN8II Oh thanks :P
