You want aggression, visuals, rebuttals and decimation of character, Dizaster. You want god level schemes and angles, Daylyt. You want, puns and similes (and laughter), Carter Deems. Charlie Clips, Bigg K, DNA Hollow Da Don, Lux, etc. These cats are the craft. They are the science. Writing bars and composing a 16 that holds retention is very different. But if you study Joyner Lucas you'll notice he studies a lot of these battle rappers as he's lifted many of their bars and angles. Drake as well who is a KOTD alumni.

In terms of lyrics on his dedicated bar-heavier tracks he's the best commercial MC if we compare him to other mainstream or indie artists. But if we put him bar-for-bar against Daylyt, Horseshoe GANG, Lupe Fiasco or King Los for example, then he takes an L, BUT he the best in terms of pure rapping. While HSG and King Los on top this department too, EM still has the most complex cadence coupled with rhyme schemes in the game. Again, on some tracks HSG and Los overtake EM, but overall he's ahead. And I don't bring Tech9 and other MCs like him in convo, cause they really don't have any bars at all.

Tech has substance, but he sacrifices wordplay techniques such as double/triple entendres, homonyms, schemes, etc. in order to keep that super saturated compound rhyme scheme, where every or almost every syllable makes a rhyme with the next bar. Furthermore, cadence and delivery schemes he creates are very complex and you can't do them with just random syllables if you know what I mean. You see, nowadays many MCs can rap rap and have substance or message (not on Tech9 level ofc), but very few can incorporate bars. My top 5 bar heavy MCs of all time are Daylyt, Loaded Lux, Murda Mook, O Red and QP, but they can't rap like Tech9. Eminem got the best of both worlds on his last 5 albums (ignore Revival and start with Shady XV and Southpaw soundtrack).

I started writing when I was 13 and then released two songs on SoundCloud and now my depression is getting in my way of consistently writing songs and I don’t like feeling vulnerable when it comes to writing songs.
