We just tend to focus on writing lyrics for verses first before thinking about melodies and hooks etc.. There's nothing wrong with taking ideas from other songs and tweaking them. "Ate ( Eight)four more than it's twelve " "Everything about the single life is good accept (Except) Loneliness " I try not to bore people so i rap diverse and avoid drills. Like i have no creativity.
I know this is an old comment but just wanted to say, what helps me with this is simply choosing one simple topic (something really simple, a noun like colors, money, shoes, whatever) and rhyming as much as I possibly can about that one thing. I do this an an exercise to loosen my brain up but this also often leads to a decent song in itself. You’ll be surprised how far you can take it, when the subject is simple you can come up with like 20000 different ways to represent it in rhyme
Tip #4 is a big one.. Iv wrote so many verses to lots of songs then struggle with the hook. Then my love for the song dies. Tackling the areas that you suck the most will level up your whole game
