I have this laptop and found that it was very laggy on the latest version of windows 10, however I put Windows 10 Version 1511 on it and it runs perfectly fine with no laggy animations, the latest version is just bloated.

I found that on atom-based netbooks like this, any windows OS later than XP will be absolutely turgid. I put a very lean linux distro on mine instead and it's now quite usable for basic tasks, though dealing with the bloat of the modern web is still beyond it.
I used one just like that up intil 2 years ago. Windows 7 32bit was faster than most others. I dual booted it with Mint for going online. I used 7 for old games. I love old tech.
Interesting video. I have a similar machine NC10, originally came with Windows XP but now have it running Windows 10. One problem with machine is ribbon cable contacts with screen - you have to jiggle screen position a bit, or pinch screen in one particular spot. Its my backup Windows machine.

no matter what I do. bios doesn't recognise/acknowledge the usb ports. the only option I get when in boot option priorities is the Kingston SSD. this is so frustrating.
I have a Toshiba Mini NB305-N600 which has an Atom N550 (2 cores, 4 threads). One nice thing about it is the RAM and hard drive port have dedicated access. So, no need to unscrew the bottom cover. My main problem with it is the last supported accelerated graphics driver for the GMA 3150 is for Windows 7. No GMA 3150 support beyond that. So, I stick with Windows 7.
The HP Mini 110-3100 has better performance, it has Atom N475, running Windows 10 RTM x64. But if you use HDD, things just get worse, it runs, but after 30 minutes, it heats up and lags because of a failing HDD. SSD and RAM upgrade will make a netbook usable for normal use again. (Don't use chrome though if you're watching TH-cam, it's too powerful, use mypal browser to watch, no matter the lag, video and audio will stay in sync and intact)
We did not install a special driver and the machine operated just fine with full resolution and performance. We donated this machine to a family with 4 kids using 1 old PC to get through their COVID nightmare. This was not a great machine, but it helped them :)

Hi Melliza; It is just Windows 10 so if you want to download apps I would use the Microsoft Store. If you don't know where that is, just click the START button and type STORE... it will appear. Thanks!

My netbook does not appear the AHCI driver when using SSD A400 Kingston. In BIOS, at the Advanced tab, I put AHCI Mode COntrol-> Manual; SATA Controller Mode Option-> Enhanced, and SATA AHCI Enable-> Enable. But the disk doesn't appear! =/
Hi Danilo, I don't think the BIOS cares that the "disk" is an SSD. The BIOS is actually talking to the SATA controller on the drive. Can you put the old spinning disk back in and see if it shows up. If it does not, I would reset the BIOS to factory settings and see what happens. Let us know how it goes...happy to help.

I have this exact problem with same notebook and SSD. Mine is a 240gb. I need to try today if updating the BIOS can help because needs to get more modern patches or so.
@@krisredgrave8484 I tried another SSD and it worked 1st time... The only notable difference was that the other manufacturers drive used a lower amperage.. The one that didn't work was using 1.9amps..

It could but as I recall Atom CPU's are limited to 2GB of RAM at the hardware level because Intel did not want them competing with Celerons back in the day.

@@URTechDotCa most people don´t need Windows, they just want to open the browser and use the same way they always used. If you can´t afford a new PC the minimum you can do is to give a chance do Linux, it will open doors for you in the future.
So, now that I updated the old HDD to Windows 10 all my circles look like ovals... as as I learned that is an issue that is there for the last 5 years and I haven't found a fix for this netbook. Just amazing how nothing works on windows...

2gb of ram is too little to run win 10 its gonna crash 100% anyway. coming from a fellow aspire owner, except i have the zg5 model with win xp.

I wouldn't trust automatically installed drivers from WinUpdate and from Samsung, all/most of them are outdated. There are newer ones available

the atom n450 is 64-bit, so you can get 4gb (in theory) but sadly, the n450 can't handle more than 2gb of ram so yeah
