How things have changed indeed - and not for the better. Reminds me of why i enjoyed being a driver at Warrington so much late 80s early 90s before it all went down hill

Mixture of liveries and accessories on those 4. Was that an indicator board on the rear 20? Lovely MK1 train with 47 at 3:40. No hermetically-sealed capsules in those days! Fresh air (diesel-laden) straight from the Sulzer in front!

Yes, it's a headcode indicator. Most of the early diesels were fitted with them to display the train reporting number, except the earliest ones, which used white discs to display that (e.g., the first loco in that consist). They went out of use forever ago and just showed two white dots after that, as you can see on the front of that locomotive; they had lights behind them, as you can see on the 31 at 6:18, so I'm not sure why that 20 at the start doesn't have the dots.

Forgot there was so much 'old stuff' about then! Blue Grey Mk1's still kicking about as wall as a 'roarer' 85! Supurb!

The 85s were withdrawn very soon after this, replaced by 86s displaced by the introduction of the class 90s.

WBQ is so boring today, just getting one of them trains today would be a novelty

Miss days of mixed goods trains. Also health and safety would go berserk if a driver jumped from moving train like that nowadays like in first clip!😂

Don't really understand why he felt the need to jump off while the train was going so fast, given that it stopped -- at a platform! -- less than 30s later.

You still get them sometimes with those trains to Crewe Basford Hall. But there aren't many of them and when you see one it does feel special.
