Rods have bent further down due to heat. Did you check for thrust movement before removing the crank? I bet thrust washer hasn't been installed or wore away which explains why the oil pump has exploded....cranks basically walked into the oil pump...
Evo 4 were renowned for crank walk

I see this a lot as I forge a lot of these engines. Same story every time! The man who sold it to me told me it’s been forged and the only one I ever open that was forged had a loose rod. Really pisses me off to see soo many people getting substandard work done!
It is shocking isnt it!, its why we did the video hopefully make more people aware of all the people selling "forged" engines when there not, alot of people buy and sell them like a scam too and claim there forged

Wish people wouldn't take a job on if they have no clue how to do it. Makes it harder for you guys as your always chasing someone else's bad workmanship. On the plus side it keeps you in business.

Looks like they havent toleranced/plastigauged the shells as well as jamming the pump with sealant.

I have a bubbling/ gurgling sound when in 1st and 2nd gear then it is non existent in the rest of the gears but am getting misfiring on 4th cyclinder when putting foot down triggering overboost just wondering if you have any idea what is causing these and if they are related? Thanks guys best channel for vxr’s!

How bad were the thrust washers, thought they would be knackered causing all the pistons to sit to 1 side, rather than all rods bent, I do like a bit of carnage
They were perfectly fine mate, it was all down to bent rods! Which is crazy, the crank was badly damaged tho by the bearings

I have a rattling sound when I'm in first at bout 3000rpm then I change to 2nd and again same story 3rd,4th,5th,6th fine and when I slow down in 1st 2nd it's fine it's just when I've stopped and starting off from 1st again.....
Any ideas before I got to a garage to get it check as I've seen alot of your videos you seem a sound guy, you know your VXR'S and I trust your judgement bro.

Does it make the rattling sound when your in neutral? Have u tried pressing the clutch down in neutral does the sound dissapear?
@@RustyAutos No rattling in neutral (idling) it sounds like a loose exhaust but surely that would happen in every gear, right?? But it could be coming from the front below the engine maybe it's hard to say where the noise is coming from to be honest... I'd use the words metalic, hollow and loose. Its playing on my mind and I dont feel like I can enjoy my vxr until its resolved.
so did this die from oil pump failure or lack of maintenance caused the failure of the oil pump then everything else got starved
From someone using that much silicone when they "forged" the engine mate, it got into the oil pickup we believe starving it
My son had his forged the bloke had it for 6 months been running fine for few years but we do question whether it is .we were going to go to WG motorworks

What do I need to look out for driving a x16xe what's most likely to go pop it's 20 year old on 87 have planned to do the whole head set but the way things are it's gonna have to wait when I Rip the head down what do I have to change on this engine
What’s your opinion on Oils like Triple Qx or Halfords own brand etc compared to the big guys ? 🤔
Personally id use an upped brand like shell or motol, but they do just as good job as any but the mixing that occurs when there made with different minerals etc will be lacking what the big guys have

Looks like some of the same issues I had with my old VXR and the garage that did the work was Nottingham based so could have been the same people. Do you do other mods like mapping and downpipes or are you more engine rebuilds?
We do mapping and exhausts mate we are a cobra sport dealer too :)
@@RustyAutos I have a BMW 235i that is coming out of warranty so looking at going stage 1 map with a sports cat, although after a previous experience with mapping I want to make sure all is good with the car 1st

some people just dont give a fiddlers what way they leave a customers motor....in and out as quickly as possible corners cut and charge them handsomely....then when something goes wrong short time later they simply dont want to no....
i have a few vauxhalls about me, including a vxr...been using same guy for years as he knows how fussy i am, dont even need to tell him he does the job like it was his own....
Really interesting video, it would be good if you did a little series on rebuilding the engine, re fitting it, then maybe a first start, running it in and Dyno testing it. Top upload 👍 Cheers 👍 Jack

I honestly didn't see 1 upgraded rod piston or bolt . What was it forged with imagination and silicone and dirty nasty burnt oil 😂😂😂

Another example of too much mileage between servicing. Needs new oil every 3k in these engines.
That coulr be a factor mate but that much colour in the oil was due to the poor building and grinding metal lol

2.2k mate includes a full rebore too to either 79.5m or 80mm which ever is needed, price is the same

2.2k mate includes a rebore, it takes atm 3-4 weeks but currently working on cutting that time down to 1 week

Hi rusty! I've got a 2011 corsa vxr now and then when I flow it the car seems to pullback then boost then pullback any ideas?? It doesn't happen all the time other times it runs boosts perfect could it be anything to do with start up and cooling time when knocking off or maybe not letting it run for 'x'amount of time before booting it... It's standard no mods and has 61k on it. Any help much appreciated 👍

The block isnt the problem mate its the pistons and fueling thats the issue

@@rjs198585 its true mate, its awkard to make it auto focus live sort of thing u have to do it manual all the time, but the new Camera was expensive its good too auto focus slow mo shots etc, deffo an upgrade needed!
