Always lovely to see woods and hedgerows. They are full of life and ecology. It’s good to see that Sussex landowners, and farmers, are together looking after them 👍
Hello from snowy Ohio. Very much enjoyed todays video. The music is perfection. The mosses and lichens were great to see. Glad you have the better boots. Hubby is out snow blowing the drive so he can drive to the Post Office to get the mail. The sun is out today. Lovely blue skies. Haven't seen blue skies for a while. 10F at 8am but 20F now at 11am. May God bless you Richard.
Great filming. What you call gloomy weather is what I wait for. I never thought an Englishman would be as excited and observant about his country as a foreigner, as if you are discovering it for the first time. Stunning scenery, great music. I'll be watching this a few more times.
There is something magical and enchanting about walking through the woods, even this time of year. Another delightful video Richard in which you got to have good ole adventure.
Richard, lots of content there, including a sky that looks grey enough to set white balance with, respectable donkeys and alpacas, plus your good self acting the goat... Muddy marvelous!
Lovely walk, Richard some lovely countryside and woodland, nice little streams, how beautiful those horses and alpacas were and so friendly. Love near the end when your running Haha why do I find it entertaining when all you do is run, lovely video. Well done.
Wonderful walk! Loved your new little animal friends you made along the way! They were just adorable!😘 What a great woodland. So many fabulous places to explore w/ all of the different "tree tunnels", bridges, creek beds & gnarled pieces of mushroom & moss cover wood trunks. Btw...can I just tell you what a fabulous filmmaker you are to see the beauty in a rotted old log or tree branch (such as 12:20), that many a vlogger would have just passed up.
I had to chuckle to myself about the sign saying stick to the footpath because of the possiblity of being shot, as it reminded me of a sign I once saw saying: " Trespassers please be aware that due to ammunition shortages there will be no warning shots " 😊 Nice work Richard 👍
Great walk that allows the imagination to look forward to spring/summer, I do love moss but can't wait to see green leaves ! The fungi at 7.20 is known as Jelly Ear or Wood Ear and grow on elders.Has an interesting and dark history , a former name refers to the fact that it was originally named after Judas the apostle who allegedly hanged himself from an Elder tree.
Lovely walk there. Can't always find monuments and interesting buildings. The countryside is enough when it's as nice as that. I also checked out your vlog on The Blue Idol as well. What a building! I came up from the South a few years back thinking what would I find? Monument or old church? No lovely old timber framed building. Found lots of mud but must come back when able, spring when dry and not too oveergrown on the footpaths. I'll be around the area as I have a G2 listed house to look after on the way towards Coolham off the 272 this year. Just paid the Explorer busker his dues. I looked at the map to try to see where you went but could not see where. Strange place name nearby: Sproutes!
All that moss gives realism to a 'walk through the greenwoods'. Another squelchy episode ! It'll dry out, by September ! ! ! See you in the next one ! Stu xx
Another beautiful walk. Loved your new friends the donkeys and alpacas. Pictured Julia in the woods hugging the trees. Excellent morning treat. Thank you
ETERNALLY ENGLAND The charms of English countryside are nowhere else repeated And woe the generation who sees its joys depleted The woodland ways of Sussex seeded in some distant time Their sight in all four seasons equally sublime JB21
A temperature dip is forecast for very early March Richard, anything is still possible. However, if the time passes and, knowing you love the bluebell woods of April. I have some very relevant replacements instead.....
Marrakesh Sunrise. Verses 2&4 ...While music floats on gentle breeze From tents with lights aglow The Lute is plucked with gentle ease In an oasis, where palm trees grow. Desert dwellers on sands of gold Sit round fires burning bright Telling tales, of stories old Whilst under a starlit night...
Ah Richard, another nice walk, you should be able to pin point your location in maps when you park the van then get directions back to it, also most phones now have a compass, if you have a data plan you could also open google earth to find visually where bridges are, this isn’t a dig, it’s just in case you didn’t realise those options
Nice pair of 'Daisy Roots' you're wearing mate, that's half the battle right there! The bit about shotguns took me back to my youth, many years ago now, I'm afraid, when we used to tresspass on a bit of land called 'Breakback Valley' in search of the nicest blackberries in the area. Farmer Dunne was a mean spirited old boy who used to fill his cartridges with bits of rock salt rather than lead and as he shouted at us we used to take to our heels and leg it away in the opposite direction. He'd let us gain a few yards then fire at us with both barrels of rock salt, highly illegal now I imagine, but it would make your arse and the back of your legs sting without breaking the skin! He lived into his nineties, and as unbelievable as it sounds, the local church was packed to the rafters at his funeral, I suspect many of the mourners were his ex targets now grown up with kids of their own! I hadn't thought about any of this for years, funny how your comment about shooting brought it all back so clearly after all these years! Have a lovely day, and thanks for the memories you evoked with this video! Cheers my old mucker!
OFF THE BORDER ( verse 8 of ???) The Bald Explorer's open mind will yearn for other things I don't mean ships or income tax or cabbages and kings! I'm thinking Pagham Harbour on the Sussex Border walk Far far along the southern coast from Seven Sisters' chalk. JB21
I keep trying to send you the link but it won't let me for some reason🤔 Perhaps I'll just try to just leave the link in the general comments & you can find it there. Otherwise you can just type in Richard Vobes Blue Idol in the YT search & it will bring it up.
I'm surprised at your cursory mention of William Penn, the man who Pennsylvania is named after. Also the Blue Idol House was founded by him in around 1691,so you did have a bit of history on your walk, you just missed it!
It's not everyday you bump into the Dali lama (alpaca )on a walk ! I wonder if the sign shooting maybe in progress is just another way of discouraging people from wondering off the path. How many peasants does the farmer bag l wonder !
I wondered about the bridge who or what agency is responsible for the maintenance of the bridges. I enjoyed your comedy routine and I imagined that you could be acting in an advertisement and that for some reason the crew is filming your bit and that later they will do the same for someone else coming towards you! For some reason I visualize her as inept splattered with mud plodding along in no way matching your exuberance! Ah her hair is a perfect mess stringy strands daubed with the mud that she repeatedly fell into. Now what are you promoting? Of course it is a shampoo bottle that you remove from your pocket and then..... I see several possibilities for what ensues you toss her the bottle and she is magically transformed hair and clothing too. Her own exuberance is restored now how to end do we see you check your pocket for more bottles and continue on? Who will you meet in the next adventure ,I can’t make out the name for the shampoo I wish I could I would like to have some!?? Thank you I have enjoyed our time together I am glad I woke up in time for your performance 🙋🏼♀️👞👞👞👞👞👍👍👍👍🖖🖖🖖🖖🖖🖖🖖🖖🖖🥾🥾🥾🥾🥾🥾
The clearing of land in Britain gives food for thought Richard but I would argue that the population of Neolithic Britain at around 250,000 was no where near enough to cultivate most of Britain, the end of the Bronze age saw the population double to around 500,000 and at the time of the Doomsday book around 2,000,000 so I would guess that much more land was cultivated then as more mouths to feed would mean more land needing to be cultivated, I cant see neolithic man cultivating the land much further than a days walk around their settlements. I would add that I have not read a fraction of the books I'm guessing you have on this subject so I stand to be corrected but I just don't see how such a small population could have cleared Britain of the vast majority of its forests, in my mind, it just doesn't add up.

Just imagine how beautiful that walk will be in July with all the trees in bloom and the yellow star shining down.
Absolutely - I must go back

Definitely enchanting!

Certainly a wet muddy walk. It will soon be Spring. A dandy slo mo going on Richard. Your having fun:)

That log reminded me of the horns on a cow!
@@RichardVobes there were so many interesting ones throughout this video, but that really struck me.
Lovely walk.
Thanks, Barry!

Thanks again Richard. Very interesting walk. Hint: It might be a nice cool walk on a hot summer’s day ;-)
Blimey Richard , it's nice too see you are re-incorporating the six million dollar Man back into your episodes 🙂.

It is amazing how the water just sits on the clay like that.
Inspirational as always thanks B.E 👍👍👍
A lot of content indeed... especially the mud, Richard. A lovely walk though ☺☺
Beautiful countryside and lovely Donkeys and Alpacas, so cute! 🍃 🍂
Some kamikaze rambling there. I thought those trees were out to get you at times! A nice squelchy outing!
Nice to see the Daffodils out. I love this time of year when we get the signs of spring. Great video Richard.
Another beautiful walk. Loved your new friends the donkeys and alpacas. Pictured Julia in the woods hugging the trees. Excellent morning treat. Thank you
I need to get Julia out in the woods again.
Frolicking good. Nice music at 12:30. Cheers.
Thanks, Steve.
A lovely walk today thank you.
Thank you for another lovely stroll through the country side ,music spot on like the running back to the camera try using your mime skills to do this
Glad you enjoyed it

15:00 to 15:40, Ricard being silly with a bit of spaghetti western tune, variety again :) Cheers
Yep, that's me.
Lovely walk in the woods Richard, although it looked a bit wet and muddy underfoot at times, pity you left your 'gaiters' behind !!
Fortunately I didn't get too muddy - the new boots tool the action.
Fantastic walk, Richard - amazing how boggy underfoot it is again - I’m looking forward to some dry weather. Great trees and lichen on them too
Thanks, Matt - the Gopro footage look dark and grainy sadly.
Looks like you did some of the West Sussex Literary Trail, highly recommended you should do it!

Hey Richard do you use any Apps to help you plan your walks? Nice to see a litter free location.
Have you ever done any walks around Arundel area
I have.
Will look for them as would like to see the castle
GPX Viewer can help with tracking, and GPS Visualizer can help you create them.

I would imagine Richard these ancient forests would be full of bear, wolf and wild bore years ago
Yes, they could well have been.

What's up with all those white vans in the UK? Are they tradesmen's vans? They don't seem to have the company names on the doors.
Some people don't like to advertise what is likely to be in the van for thieves to break in a steal.
I think there’s a lot of people doing deliveries during the pandemic due to increased need
