Sultan Suleiman punishes Murat heavily and fear grips the Grand Master who learns about the assassination. Will Ottoman Empire make the whole Rhodes pay a heavy price for the assassination? The Grand Master gets shocked by the decision of Ottomans about Rhodes.
At the age of 26, when he ascended to the throne, Sultan Suleiman aimed to build an empire more powerful than Alexander the Great and to render the Ottomans invincible. Throughout his 46-year reign, he became the greatest warrior and ruler of both East and West.
The young Suleiman received news of his succession to the throne during a hunting party in 1520. Unaware that he would be ruling a reign beyond his dreams, he left behind his wife son and took to the road with his close friend and companion Pargali Ibrahim to reach the Topkapi Palace in Istanbul. As they started their journey overland, an Ottoman ship set sail from Crimea in the Black Sea, bringing female slaves as gifts for the Ottoman palace… On this ship was Alexandra La Rossa, the daughter of a Ukrainian Orthodox minister, taken away from her family and sold to the Crimean palace. She had no idea that she would become Hurrem, wife of Sultan Suleiman and mother of princes, ruling the empire with him through bloodshed and intrigue.
As Sultan Suleiman conquered the world, his great passion for Hurrem would clash with his love for and trust in his closest friend and advisor, Grand Vizier Pargali Ibrahim, all set against the backdrop of the tension between Christian Europe and the Ottoman Empire in the 16th century.

collectively, what hurrem said was true. The harem was full of enslaved women who were mistreated all the time. The men were the ones who legalized fratricide and perpetuated it actively which means they had no problem with it, power meant more to them than peace and calm. The princesses didn't have it easy tho, they were married off at the ages of 11-13 to 50-year-old men forcibly to fulfill their parent's political agenda. It wouldn't seem much to you, but an 11-year-old girl literally being groomed and r@ped by an old crusty 50-year-old dude would scar her for life. Even the shows don't show it, hurrem was 15 i think when she was brought as a concubine and mihirimah was 17 when she married Crusty Rustem
Mihrimah was her dad's clear favorite daughter, and she was just like her mom as Suleyman would point out. It was she that would become Valide after her mother passed away and she controlled the Harem of her brother the future Sultan Selim the 2nd, called "the drunk"

And also, his sons were all his potential rivals for the throne but his daughter was not so naturally he had a more tender and soft relationship with her, the real parent-child relationship. It makes no sense why Hurrem is upset or why Mahidevran is happy. Hurrem already had ONE son and most concubines are only permitted to have one son. The fact Hurrem had a child after Mehmed is already a break of tradition. Her position was already firmly secured with Suleiman's favoured and with a son.

I literally cried when i saw Suleyman hugging little Mustafa knowing what happens later what a sad world it is
I don't understand why having a girl was such a disappointment. Valide had a few daughters, all of whom were greatly respected and admired. It also didn't lessen Valide's reputation by having more girls than boys. Besides, daughters were not a threat to the throne. The most they could do was marry into royalty or marry influential politicians. They helped protect the dynasty because they were not subject to the same rules as the boys.
It was nice to see the smile wiped off Mahidevran's face.

You really did need to be there, in that area, at that time through the mid 70's. Everyone is different. My youngest was born in 2015. I didn't scream or carry on during it--I was unmedicated and felt everything, pushed for around 4 hours, had transition labor for almost 5 hours and was in labor for over 16 hours before my baby was born. I heard the woman in the next room yelling and just shrugged it off.

You can see in her face how happy she was for having a girl in the family. A sultana, a woman, someone like her and her daughters. She already had two boys grandsons. When it was about birth, she didn't care about her hate for Hurrem, she cared about the grandson/grandaughtwr she will bring. Somehow this scene became difficult to watch with Nigar in it. It's so heartbreaking to think that while Hurrem was able to hold, cared for and loved her daughter, Nigar never had the chance as her only child was taken from her since birth. This is why i both hated Hatice and Ibrahim

I just finished giving birth and I see this on TH-cam. FYI childbirth is much easier and less painful in any position, but the back. No other animal in the animal kingdom has the idiocy to give birth on their back. My first birth I pushed on my back for three hours until I just got up and got into a squatting position using my husband to support me. Baby came right out. After that I refused to give birth on my back again. Squatting is so much faster and easier and the KICO position similar to what most mammals do is the easiest.
Also anyone who says Hurrem wasn't motivated by personal power here is being ridiculously naive.

Well it's normal in traditional royal families princes were very important to everyone and princess had no power over anything that's why hurrem wanted a prince because she and everyone thought that Suleiman will be happy if a prince was born and will be upset if a princess is born thats why hurrem was upset (but in future her sons did war and her daughter helped hurrem that's why its funny) and Mahidevran was happy . But in reality mostly fathers loves their daughter a lil bit much like how suleiman was happy that Miriam was born
