Thank you so much, my friend! This is the the first (and so far the only) Tutorial I could find on that controller - which gave me quite some headache, before I found your video! I cant believe that you have only 83 followers, and 24 likes on this video - .... well in both categories +1 now! ;) I bought a Duotts C29 last week, and received it today (750W 48V, 29 inch MTB) ... and tried to find my way through the controller settings with common sense (for about an hour or so - not much luck there) I'm gonna link your video in my review (on geekbuying) - hoping that it will help a some other buyers to find their optimal settings - which, if you try to take regulations serious, could turn out to be quite challenging in Europe - cause besides the general EU directive that generalizes that things on wheels with any sort of engine or motor accelerated to a speed of over 45 km/h (roughly 30 mph) have to be registered, insured, and the driver needs to posses a license. ....... ...... the specific regulations tend to show some deviations from each other (regarding the allowed speed / the max power / Throttle/ PAS only) so its very useful to know how to restrict amps, speed, or how to turn the throttle on/off to conform with local laws/ regulations! For example in Austria (where I live) there is a power limit of 600W, and a (supported) speed limit of 25 km/h so I limit the controller to a current draw of 12 A, and the speed to the mentioned 25 kmph. This leaves me with a perfectly legal bike, with more than enough power to push me uphill - which is exactely, the purpose for which I bought this ebike! I dont need to brake any speed records, I had my share of crazy, fast motorbikes in my life!
👌👌👌👍👍👍thank you so much you have shown me and i understand what yur explaining unlike other vidios iv watched who just talk and go on and on and i end up back to square one so thank you your the BEST .....
I have a question regarding the PAS Assist, the 7 gears, and the extended range battery for my electric bike. To reach the maximum range of 90km, would I need to adjust the PAS Assist level along with the 7 speed gears while I'm pedaling and/or using the throttle?
Hi on the setting number 18 about the throttle why is it better being set to 100, just got my e-bike and just learning about things you can do on the setting. Great info.
Congratulations, very good video tutorial. I would like my bike's electric assist to start earlier (as soon as I start pedaling), what parameter should I set? I tried P 12, but I didn't feel any apparent difference. Thank you.
Hi Pablo, I think this may be a whole video in itself. I haven't got this ebike anymore to experiment as I sold them all but I think you are referring to setting P17. The user manual gives the following instructions: P17: (Customer Designated) Auto Cruise Option. 0: No Auto-cruise 1: Auto-Cruise On. Trigger time of auto-cruise is decided by the controller I am guessing you change to setting 1 (auto-cruise). This would mean though that auto-cruise is only decided by the controller and can't be activated by the rider which sounds a little frightening to me to be honest.
Yes, please. This would be great. My bike has a limit at 25 km/h, but I always exceed this speed using the pedals. Totally pointless having this limiter feature. I understand it is set by law, but laws are there to be broken :)
Thank you so much.. Have you discovered how to reset everything to their default values? The controller on my bike (DUOTTS C29) has only 16 settings) . If so please enlighten me..
These settings seem to be the same as the GPO1 display I have on my new Metakoo Cybertrack 100. Thanks for helping me figure it out. I'm still left with the original problem, and that's the throttle speed doesn't go over 23kmh. It's very frustrating, I'm going to give it a few more days to figure it out, or for the seller to get back to me before I decide to return it.
Hi Fred, I am guessing your ebike has a higher top speed than 23km/h. In Australia the laws actually state our throttle should cut out at 6km/h hence why there is that option on this ebike. It is definitely worth speaking to seller as the top out throttle speed might be a factory setting. Generally if you increase the max speed the throttle should also go to top speed i.e. 32km/h with my video. Obviously hills can slow max speed but this may be something you can't alter. Better to check with them first rather than spend time trying to figure out on your own.
Amazing, how do you explain everything. Tomorrow I'm going to test the throttle options because it looks like it is not working in my bike. I hope that is disabled
Thanks for making this video. I'm having issues when I get to P12, How do I adjust the lower number. It doesn't matter if go to p11-p18 I can't make any changes to lower number in display. I've tried holding minus for 10 seconds nothing. Can you help ? thanks
The motor and wattage side is not relevant more that this is for the G51 display. If your ebike model uses the same display the settings should be the same.
I have changed the value P07 and as a result the speedometer doesn't show km/h or mile/h... I don't remember the previous default anymore... any help me???
what if the computer started with setting points p11 to p20, but for reasons I don't understand, after about a month it now only has p11 to p16? The cruise control was working fine and now it doesn't work. why could this have happened and how can I fix it?
You may have done a factory reset by mistake. See manual here: www.scribd.com/document/535837513/manual-lcd-display-g51. Is the screen asking for a passcode? I believe some require passcode of 2020 to get into full display settings. Unfortunately I no longer own this bike with the G51 display so can't check my display to work out what happened.
@@nextgene-rides7522 No, I don't know anything about any password and the screen didn't ask for anything. I wouldn't even know where to enter the code. When the cruise control was in operation, it was activated by simply turning the throttle some secs. And i cant reach p17 settings no more.
What happens if i change the voltage what would happened please help me i just bought the bike and it was my birthday gift and I'm scare i accently broke it
If you haven't ridden it on the wrong voltage it should be ok. I would recommend changing the setting back as soon as you can though. If you read through the previous comments I provide the full code settings. Here is the manual: edbikes.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/LCD-G51-Manual-1.pdf. You can change the voltage via P3 setting. Depending on your model of bike it will most likely be 36V or 48V. My bike had a 36V. If unsure it should be written on the battery (36V 10Ah) something like that. If you still can't figure it out then I would suggest taking it to your local bike shop who could fix it for you.
The video is primarily for speed display settings but here is a link to the display manual which I used as a reference. edbikes.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/LCD-G51-Manual-1.pdf. The full parameters are: 00 - factory reset, 01 - Display screen luminance 1-3 (3 brightest) 02 - unit of mileage i.e. km/h or m/h, 03 - Voltage grades 24,36,48 04 - Sleep time for display (1-60), 05 - pedal assist grades factory setting is only levels 1-3, second setting is to increase to levels 1-5, 06 - Wheel size unit in inches 07 - Speed measuring magnet 1-100 P08 - Speed limit 0-50km/h. I think the max speed is 32km/h with this model. P09 Zero start & Non-zero Start. 0 is Zero Start, 1 is Non-zero Start P10 Driving mode. 0: driven by PAS. Throttle is useless at this time. 1: driven by Throttle. PAS is useless at this time. 2: driven by PAS & Throttle. Throttle is useless at Zero Start status. P11 PAS sensitivity. Range: 1-24 P12 PAS start strength. Range: 0-5 P13 PAS magnet type: 5, 8, and 12. P14 The Current-limiting of Controller. default is 12A. Range:1-20A P15 Unspecified P16 Reset ODO. Long press for 5s, ODO could be reset. P17: (Customer Designated) Auto Cruise Option. 0: No Auto-cruise 1: Auto-Cruise On. Trigger time of auto-cruise is decided by the controller. P18: (K5S, APT Protocol Bound) Throttle Level Option. 0: No throttle level. 1: Has throttle levels. P19: (K5S Protocol Bound) 6km/h Cruise Throttle Definition. 0: Throttle has no 6km/h cruise definition. 1: Throttle has 6km/h cruise definition.
Also note that I am not talking much about parameters that are best left as they are set. For example you wouldn't change the voltage as this would be correctly set by the factory before the bike is sent out. I am trying to avoid people changing settings best left as they are. Most people only change the PAS setting and max speed but any changes are at your own risk and may void warranty.
Hi Mark, The e09 error is a controller failure error. See G51 manual edbikes.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/LCD-G51-Manual-1.pdf. There are no details on how to fix this but with an error it usually requires a through check of wiring (no damage or loose wiring). The waterproof connector pins can easily get damaged and through up an error code. If you cannot find an obvious issue it may need the controller replaced. Best idea though is to take it to a professional ebike shop and see if they can find the error and if under warranty contact the reseller.
Thanks this is the only video I’ve found that explains what the settings do cheers

Just relevant to G51 display controller. Check which model your display is and then find the relevant video for that model.

What happens if you get e09 error
Hi Mark, The e09 error is a controller failure error. See G51 manual edbikes.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/LCD-G51-Manual-1.pdf. There are no details on how to fix this but with an error it usually requires a through check of wiring (no damage or loose wiring).
