  • Our longest and most expensive review yet. Elie Bleu is a Paris-based humidor manufacturer that specializes in luxury desktop humidors. The company is responsible for a large catalog of humidors of all different sizes and designs. This particular humidor is advertised as a 110-count humidor and the exterior is made of dyed sycamore. It's also $3,200.

    I love these. I have 4 of them in my cigar fridge. They result in hyper accurate humidity. The only thing I have ever seen produce as much stability of RH as this is Tupperware (which is an eye soar). This is the first beautiful wood humidor that has form as well as function... I just wish it had the ability to swap the solution holder for a magnetic Boveda pack holder.

    In my elie bleu I found the solution to the included humidifiers is to fill them very conservatively and include a bovida pack in the humidor.

    Nice video! But If the cigars need fresh air once in a while, why is so important that the box seals so good? A not so perfect sealing box wouldnt age cigars better If properly stored with a two way boveda humidifier?

    It performed excellent. But you didn't talk about how it did this. What kind of wood is it constructed with? How many cigars does it actually hold?

    If spanish cedar is the superior wood for how well it can retain and seal moisture/humidty, are humidity devices necessary? how did they store cigars before humidifiers?

      With copper lined humidors

    Great unbiased review as always.
    If I were Uber rich, I'd prob stock up on a few of these for show, but still keep tupperdores as bulk storage.
    That rainbow woodgrain pattern looks beautiful, but seems too political for my taste in this day and age unfortunately. (Even if it wasn't originally intended)

    I didn't use to get any negative associations from the rainbow flag at all. Worthy cause was about the sum of it. Now I've started associating it with aggression and wokeism, which ironically is the bigotry du jour in the west. As the context has clearly changed quite dramatically from let's say a decade ago, the moralistic simplicity that Minato implies here just isn't there anymore. I wish he had resisted the urge to take a virtue signalling blind swing at his audience here. And so the pendulum swings, and there is nothing new under the sun.

      @therealcountrybumpkin ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Was going to write the same thing. The rainbow doesn’t mean what it used to mean anymore. Also, this company (Elie Bleu) has Che on a bunch of their products. Okay, kinda not cool but he’s a symbol. But Mao? No thanks. Not cool at all. When you put both Mao and Che on your stuff, you are swinging hard hard left. Just saved me thousands of dollars.

    • @QualeQualeson
      @QualeQualeson ปีที่แล้ว

      @@therealcountrybumpkin I don't know that they swing left. If anything, they're probably swinging right as in they sell their overpriced goods to people with a lot of money. It's like the old saying; when the time comes to hang the capitalist, he will sell you the rope. I'm thinking that they're doing what a lot of companies do, they appeal to trends, which is why wokeism even got any real power in the first place. Young mindless consumers are the present as well as the future and business knows this very well. China is a giant new and newly rich market in the east, and Mao imagery is very popular there. It's kind of their version of Che in a way, iconic and equally braindead. You've got these billionaires who make their fortunes off the back of dirt poor labour, then they put Mao on their luxury humidors and everything is AOK. It's absurd, but this is exactly what the Chinese form of capitalism is. Reality: Hardcore exploitation, but the imagery says Communism.
      If Habanos can sell mediocre cigars at 3-4x the price in China, Elie Bleu can sell expensive accessories. You can bet that the rainbow humidor is almost as unwanted in China as Mao is wanted. It doesn't matter to Elie Bleu. All I want now is for Minato to review the Mao one and say if you don't like it, fuck the haters ;) That's a joke, but not completely. I'm just saying that he is in way over his head on these topics when he starts to weigh in on the perceived ideology.
