@@Lapishunter1969 I deleted mine too, sorry for getting heated. This is just my first time going through Campaign 2 and so many comments are just, "wait till you meet ____ in episode ___" or "Wow this really make sense for _____'s backstory when it is revealed in episode ____"
I think Pumat Sol's voice is mainly Tommy Chong with hints of John Wayne leaking through from time to time. His mannerisms and demeanor are pure Tommy Chong though. Nothing would make me happier than hearing Taliesin fully embrace the Tommy Chong vibe
When they save Nila's husband, Beau says: 'We relied on your mate. We couldn't have done it without her.' It was Nila's wish to have people rely on her and I just love that Beau remembered that and specifically phrased it that way to empower this lovely firbolg woman.
@@Sebbir yeah, she is! There is one time on the finale of the C1 where she make a speech for a city that, early on that campaign, it's said that they never got invaded for 10,000 years (iirc). And in the speech she talks about it and it's was really great
@@handfulmousefly Cadeuces to Trent: "You said so yourself, you surround yourself with lies and deceptions. And I wish for you, in the future, to find someone to mourn you when you are gone. Respectfully." Honestly this is probably the biggest burn ever said in CR
Taliesins first act as cleric: Heal a companion. Lauras first act as a cleric: "I use thamaturgy to open up all the windooooooows!". This is why the party needs two clerics.
Laura wanted to do a warlock until she found out Travis already made one. So she switched to Trickster Cleric...and you can tell how little she likes healing.
Really it's a never ending battle between Matt Mercer and anything that would allow the party to level the ridiculously tilted playing field. I've never seen a DM with such an adversarial relationship with the party he's DM'ing. It's like watching Gygax DM Tomb of Horrors, but every single adventure instead of as a one-shot to kill overly powerful PCs that were screwing up his campaign.
@@orestes0883 he loves their ingenuity but gets annoyed at the same time as he wants to give them more random encounters. Mind you, they tend to shoot themselves in the foot often when they second guess their plans. Watch Matt while they plan. He smiles every time they change from a solid plan
ya I feel like he goes out of his way to try and kill frumpkin.... I mean I understand why (because frumpkin can scout out anything without any sort of counter if matt doesn't do something about it) but would a guard try and shoot down a bird? why waste the arrow? a spider wouldn't be able to fit under a trap door? mmmm idk about that. Is the trap door sealed shut?
Jester against her enemies: hit them with a lollipop. Jester against her friends: Cause necrotic rot on all surface blood vessels and make their eyes bleed.
Fjord being gone and making Caleb the leader is gonna do wonders for his Character. You can see him standing on his own vs Opheliia and even tho he threw up after. I love seeing this boy fighting his demons
Also i know Marisha was probably a lil tired but the way Beau sounded this episode (like when they were at the place)was WHEW Peak niceness i wanna hear that more
Yeah, I always like hearing Caleb forget that he thinks he's worthless and actually prove that he's a great and decisive leader. I just wish he could see it more.
Bugs me that the BARBARIAN somehow knew Keg was hasted and used the sword to dispel it. The sword def doesn't auto-dispel as that would make it broken beyond hope vs mages and I'm sure it has like a 1 or 3 use limit per day. The very first hit on Keg and she just knew immediately to dispel? Come on Matt... for someone so paranoid about the players metagaming hes pretty bad about metagaming combat strategy...
Not that it matters, but it shouldn't have been flying anymore :p the hit dice for owls is 1d4-1, but I think Liam mistook it for 1d4+1 and it therefore had 5 hit points instead of the 3 it was supposed to have.
@@mariekeho Agreed, I noticed the same thing. At our table we usually just say it has 1hp to make it easier but ya even so its 1d4-1 so max it can have is 3 HP or less.
I like how their discussion of Jester is basically “she’s either been completely broken and turned or she has them wrapped around her finger, there is no in between“ lmao
Imagine if this had gone down with a different party member kidnapped; "We have kidnapped your father." Caleb: "... But I don't have a father." "He made us feel really bad about our life choices, can you come and pick him up please?" Caleb: "Oh my god, you have Caduceus!"
Nila is a breath of fresh air and completely awesome. The complete opposite to Ashley burch. Really haven't enjoyed her guest starring. Remember guys if she had actually helped instead of trying to be edgy molly may not have even died in the first place
@@rightytighty5724 that is...debatable. the gang was going into a two people down, with a replacement on a third, with incorrect information about the enemy, and no healer when one of their fighters powers worked best when they damage themselves. Even if Ashly hadn't given herself disadvantage, it was a generally bad situation, and a lot of things could have been done differently by a lot of people at the table. But yeah, she definitely wasn't helping things much that fight.
The cheer as Taliesin rejoined the table and the immediate chaos that insues is so heartwarming after two episodes full of heartbreak and tears. Edit: and Caduceus himself feels like a warm soothing hug after Mollymauks cheerful carnival energy. I love this.
There's a Talks Machina a bit further on where they talk about how comforting it is to hug Taliesin while he's doing the Caduceus voice. It's ridiculously heartwarming.
Can I just say that I love how immersively Liam uses spellcasting materials? "I put the licorice root in my mouth and..." "I rub the oil between my fingers to..." etc. Most people just disregard it as "I have it in my inventory so I can just cast it", especially when the material is not consumed by the spell. He is just such a great roleplayer and actor on such a nuanced level.
I choose arcane focus everytime so I don’t have to worry about spell components but seeing how Liam gets so creative with the components it makes me wanna do it too
It makes sense for his character, too. He's a disheveled hobo with pockets full of weird stuff. An arcane focus costs money that a homeless hedge wizard like him never had.
i'm very fond of worldbuilding with small details, so i love when he does that! just a lil peek that makes me wonder about the in-world mechanics of spellcasting.
2:07:52 Everyone forgot that Frumpkin is a spider, and not an owl (Even Matt!). So there's just some FLYING SPIDER CIRCLING THE BUILDING. AND IT'S CANON.
There are spiders that form a kind of web parachute and use it to catch wind and glide. Not in D&D, in real life. Sorry for the nightmares arachnophobes.😬
When they were talking about how Phil is a terrible person because he shot an owl, I really wanted Caleb to be like, “there are worse people, I know someone who kicks cats”
@@chaddwicshay2733 I really like Caduceus as well. Taliesin seems more immersed in this character as well and so far he plays him really well and he seems interesting. Molly was just an edlelord lets be honest who wasn't interesting or had much to contribute to the group at all beyond drinking, gambling, taking drugs, minor cardtricks, scamming and berating people while not meaning any of it nor caring about if they took his advice or not and cutting himself. Even his backstory was completely uninteresting for everyone because as he put it himself "he doesn't care who he was before and doesn't even want to know".
It's crazy that the furbolg lady had only played once before. You could see occasionally with her not understanding spells/certain actions, but she was SO good at roleplaying.
SO good! Being able to hold emotions quietly like that...amazing. And then to ramp up into the fury she showed? Astounding. To be sweet and passionate and serene and vengeful and loving and strong and naive and wise all at once and be tragic and hilarious?? A joy to watch!
@@Tyler-gay-indoor-kid One of my favourites! Her and Ashley B made a fantastic dynamic for the group. Nila's wisdom may be low but she plays it in a way that is so charming and endearing!
SO good, like damn, I could feel her pain of not being able to connect with her son when they got to them. Nila has become a favorite of mine and then when she rescued them, and still wanted to help the Nine, damn Nila's a favorite of mine
There are two sides to Taliesin. One is an extravagant, energetic, spectacular showman. The other is a wise, ancient immortal with a dry sense of humor, who lives alone in the woods, but doesn't mind company every once in a while. Hence, Mollymauk Tealeaf and Caduceus Clay. Both of them expertly crafted, both of them showing off the different aspects that make Taliesin the ancient eldritch horror that he is, in all his glory. All hail the pyramid.
Im on my 2nd turn with this campaign. And though i really would have wished that molly was alive to tell this story within the Mighty Nein. But Cad is such a great character and i just love Taleisin in this... Love love and love Cad. Molly was destined to pass on...
I love how Taliesin went from a character who knows many types of people and was super well-traveled to a hermit who hasn’t had a real conversation in five years
Caduceus, magically appearing identical to a guard that they killed: "I look like a guard." Beau, wearing a guard's bloody cloak and otherwise looking exactly like herself: "Me too."
I was wondering why she was thinking the other bad guys wouldn't recognize her... cause, you know, they hired like five persons and they're not supposed to know their gender or face?!
That's Marisha just has to push herself into everything...if she wasn't married to Matt, he should have ended her bullshit and had them get caught. It was some weak sauce. Lol
@@DarkDecimus No need to stir up trouble. I hope whoever insulted you in the past isn’t still weighing on you. Many of these thoughts simply don’t need to be typed, thank you.
Pretty sure that Matt will make her pay for her overconfidence/cockiness if an enemy gets close enough to her to get a good look. I've never seen him go easy on Marisha just coz it's his wife

I cackle a bit each time nervously bc first of all imagine if in the real world it'll be how it works, you see some fucked up shit and you roll to see if Trauma™ is gonna immobilize you
What of you can Pavlov yourself to roll natural 20s in your head when you have trauma?? I'm not trying to be insensitive at all, and I do not know the inner workings of mental shit to know if this would work, but it's cool to think about
But now, considering that Molly calmed him down from one of his moments previously, I’d imagine that the fire of revenge is stronger than that of regret.
I would have loved for Sumalee to stay. She has such a soothing voice and her excitement both as a person for DnD aswell as Nilas ingame are refreshing and super fun to watch.
She's honestly the first guest of the two campaigns so far that I'd actually like to see as a regular, and I've been a fan of most of them. She just brings something special and different to the table and seems to naturally fit in so well.
I immediately loved Nila the moment she showed up. She had sweet soothing vibes that could quickly bring down the thunder when angry. She’s just such a wholesome yet powerful character I love her
In the now deleted talks machina episode she appeared on, she mentions that she'd never played D&D before. She told a friend she was going on CR, and the friend had her come over to play a few short games so she'd have a better understanding. Good friend.
29:19 I love that when Nila asked if Jester and Yasha and Fjord would take care of a child, none of them had to think before saying "Yes", because all three of them have shown kindness to children in particular. I can think of no better endorsement of a person's character.
The way she was throwing shade at Liam, when it was just proof again that she still understands jack shit about the game, despite being married to a rare genius at it... The spider is one of the most useful wizard familiars, second only to the owl in my book.
That last pic of Matt as "The fate" cutting Molly's thread to the living world hits me, especially because of how sad he is. I love the Greek mythology reference and it fits perfectly.
3:56:50 My jaw dropped when I learned this was Sumalee’s first time playing! Absolutely astonishing! Yes, she’s a professional actress, but she managed to stay in character the entire time while trying to remember/figure out the game mechanics. She did all that AND made really great combat decisions. All-star player! Bravo!
The parents at the table getting emotional when Nila reunites with Asar absolutely destroyed me. Sumalee's RP was incredibly moving but seeing how the moment impacted Liam and Sam was what brought me to tears.
Nott: Caleb's the leader Caduceus: that makes sense Caleb: *deeply confused* idk why but i love this so much, buddy doesn't know how much the others listen to him
I suppose it's the idea of seeing a corpse being accelerated through months of natural decay in a matter of seconds. Stuff like that would rub anyone up the wrong way.
@@helenkeller9182 And all of that was brought upon by Marisha, Taliesin and Orion laughing their asses off during the "Vox Moronica" first adventure, C1E12 (if memory serves).
I will forever state that if you want to slow a party down to a dead crawl, put a plain, wooden door in front of them with a minor magical aura. They'll spend like six sessions trying to metagame what traps could be there lmfao...
There is something oddly satisfying about hearing Nila's soft voice say she wants to brutally put somebody's lights out essentially, especially with the calm way she says it :D
The whole scene is also a testament to Matt's DMing and voice acting. The shift from his natural, deep voice to a tiny, scared "Mama?" makes it that much more of a gut punch.
Liam shares a look with Sam during that moment, too, and they kinda both nod in that "you get it" way. It's really amazing how you can see their relationships as characters and as people develop in this show. I love CR so much.
I was about to comment about this, when i found your comment. I don't think it was only abou this children, but it was about the loss of his own mother, and seeing Sumalee so eager to heal and protect her child made him remember of his mother. That's why i think the mutter "i don't like this". It's a pain that never really goes away.
The best episode, in my opinion, since the other three Niens were kidnapped. Sumalee is such a good role-player, really loved her contribution and Sam is entertaining as always. Besides that, I liked how Caleb was more active than usual.
It's believable, as well. Caleb has somewhat trusted Fjord since he's the most charismatic and leader-like person in the party. He had also showed a side of him nobody knows about to Jester and he considers her as what seems to be like an emotional outlet. Yasha... is just Yasha. What seemed to move him to become the temporary leader of the group, most probably, is Molly's death. Once connected to his backstory, it's believable that Caleb doesn't want to lose any more of his friends, even more so once Nott establishes that they are already deeply connected somewhat to the party.
You can see the gears on his hear turning. I have noticed a few times in first campaign like when he made the comment "This is how Shindler did it by the way", "I'm yelping it", and some other terrible but at the same time hilarious lines.
Second time watching through this campaign..didn't cry when molly died.. but when Mr. Clay comes in and says.. "Usually when people come here it is because of some great tragedy. How can I aleve your pain?" 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
I miss Molly, but when Caduceus was prompted to look in the windows and said "They're nice!" I felt a little joy that perhaps the group will have their own psuedo-Pumat-Sol.
I love how Tal's characters are all distinct from each other, and from his own personality. Percy was witty and driven but tortured, Molly was fun loving and self destructive, and Clay is totally opposite to both, a laid back, warm and inviting character.
I find it easiest to do very different characters from one to another. I went from a vampire hunting, bear obsessed druid to a skittish and trinket loving kobold arcane trickster, to a yuan-ti monk who loves eating people. Differentiation helps force you into characterization.
I just love how there is an element of Taliesin in there, either from his own personality or people he knew/knows. Especially with Molly being heavily linked to Daniel Gordon-Levitt (Joseph Gordon-Levitts brother) who Taliesin was friends with.
I just realized that Caduceus first introduced himself to Nott as "Mr. Clay," before giving his first name. And Nott has been calling him "Mr. Clay" ever since. :-)
Actually, Nott was calling him 'Duceus', but then Caduceus got annoyed and told him to just call him Clay. So Nott corrected herself and started calling him Mr. Clay since.
Can we appreciate the real-life friend moment between Marisha and Liam learning each other’s favorite colors? In the middle of a dungeon crawl to rescue their imaginary friends? So cute @3:23:30
Sumalee sobbing at 3:45:42 physically threw my body, like, i love her so much, she is such a sweetheart and a great actor and she REALLY got into the RP, the whole scene had me in tears
That artwork of Matt at the end is fantastic, its nice to see something that shows the DM cares about the PCs as much as everybody else rather than being some evil mastermind trying to kill them all
When they were so well trying to take out the guards, I imagine Molly’s soul just sitting right next to the battlefield, booze on hand, sipping and smiling, clapping as he usually did.
Sitting on a branch next to the champion of the raven queen who is just smiling under his mask as he thinks of his family across the sea and how hard they fought for each other.
I feel so bad for Liam when they’re describing how Nila’s kid is hurt. That’s the face of a dad who has kids and to whom the idea of a kid being hurt is just terrifying. Glad everyone made it out okay though.
I know everybody was great but CALEB WAS FANTASTIC. He kept himself together, kept the group focused and moving, mapped out the terrain, buffed people so they could fight and was constantly thinking 3 steps ahead. Spoilers: No wonder Taliesen said that Cad thinks highly of Caleb if this was his first impression.
"Violence is extremely natural." Don't ever change, Taliesin :D Edit: Also, I can't tell if Sumalee is roleplaying the entire time, or is just that sweet.
I've worked with her a bit for the past few years on Dragon Age Day stuff, and she is absolutely the sweetest, kindest person. It's truly who she is. And I loved how she brought that into Nila.
Having known about Molly's fate for a while, I was both dreading getting up to it, but also excited to see what Caduceus is like. He does not disappoint, I love him already.
Same. Honestly, from random thumbnails I've seen now and then, I thought it was going to happen around episode 60-80ish, so when it happened THIS early, even though I knew it was going to be a thing, it still had me in complete shock.
I had seen something while I was half-way through C1 that mentioned Caduceus, and knew that that was Taliesin's character for C2, but totally forgot by the time I started C2. Then, literally five minutes before watching "Found and Lost" I watched an animated, fan-made (I assume) intro for C2 including Caduceus and the now iconic imagery of Molly's cloak hanging on a staff and went "Oh shit, that sucks. I guess Molly dies at some point." Then I watched the next episode and uh... yeah. That was fucken wild.
Omg, last episode when Nila wanted to pay for stuff I thought she's got quite some money and it's also a little bit of a meta way to help the party since Sumalee won't be needing them...but now I see Nila only has 10 gold and when she was offering to cover costs it was just her being the sweetest most adorable character ever!
I just love how matt just makes two maps of different floors of a house, with fucking torchlight and incredible detail, and he's just like "so, what do you want to do?". Like, no, lets look at this map for a couple hours.
@@CooperAATE I mean it's spoilers for future episodes. Now I know that Nila doesn't come back (unless you meant this specific episode only). But yeah I don't read comments until after I finish the episode.
@@ectofrost I just assume with comments like that that the person is also watching for the first time, and simply used ambiguous language to say "I wish Jester and Nila had met here". Unless the comment actively spoiled something like the million Molly spoilers I got, which had no way to reinterpret as ambiguous language.
Of course they all fell in love with Sumalee's character, she played a mom... come to think of it... gimme a second, I'm gonna go phone my mom and tell her I love her...
Something that makes me so sad is that Caduceus is drinking tea from red and purple flowers. Red and purple are like Molly’s colors in my opinion.... Tal whyyyyyy
When they find Nila finds her wounded child and partner and he reaches out for his mom, Liam quietly says "I don't like it," and as a mom, that broke me. You can really tell in this scene which of the players are parents.
Okay I know from a meta level Caduceus was always going to show up but I like the idea that in universe they had to choose between going for Caduceus or recruiting people on Shadycreek and the decisive vote for Cad was Nila because her smell bag told her so. So they made fun of the smell bag all throughout the episode but if it wasn’t for it they would have never met Caduceus and the Mighty Nein would all probably be dead.
lol, Nott just failed to do anything during the infiltration of the sour nest. Tries to pick back door, fails. Tries to sneak past to the trap door, fails. Tries to pick first inner door, fails. Tries to pick second locked door, fails. Poor Nott, can't catch a break.
@@nraketh I think there's a bit of roleplay in that. Nott doesn't think she's a great fighter, she's more into trying to do her job as a thief. But for sure a rogue should be also thinking about that big DPS potential
This was the stream I stumbled into on Twitch nearly two years ago, with no idea what Critical Role was, having started my very first game of D&D only a few weeks before. I was just getting a 30-day Prime account for a bargain in a game. I think I actually clicked on the stream by accident, and paused to see what they were doing. Wound up watching all the way to the end and wanting more. I started all the way back at Kraghammer, and now here I am again. This show has been an amazing source of inspiration and joy through so many different times. It was there for me when I could count my friends on one hand; it was there for me when I was lonely after our D&D table broke up (the woes of a college group); and it's been here for me after I moved to a foreign country and was put in a 14-day quarantine. Now, on my last day of quarantine, I'm back here where I started, and with more to look forward to. It's really surreal to rewatch those moments from so long ago - now with a proper context - and it reminds me of all the ways I'm thankful for this show.
I turned in live many years ago. It was campaign 1 and Vax just started screaming "Jenga" as he dove out a second story window of a building. Turns out it was episode 26 and I've been watching live ever since. Such an amazing adventure we've been on. I've felt more emotion from this than any other show on TV including Futurama at this point
Those two were hilarious. It's brilliant that he wove a bit of comedy into a serious infiltration mission. Was just thinking how surprised at the lack of comments about Phil and his pal.
@@PsiQ nope, he never did. At least, not in on-screen time, I believe. I suppose that theoretically could’ve been discussed during travel time or something, bits that aren’t roleplayed out, but he mentioned wanting to “lord it over them”, and I’d imagine that he would’ve kept the secret solely for that reason. So, he indeed kept it to the grave.
46:15 Marisha (a seasoned druid player) giving Sumalee the chance to make a nature check is one of favorite moments from the episode and a testament of Marisha's care for other player's roleplay and class mechanics and attention to detail. Love them both and these little RP gems.
Yeah, especially when she made fun of Caleb's spider idea...that was priceless. Really shows that she cares about the important people, the guest stars. Or maybe she was out of character when she was making fun of the spider - and she was making fun of another player's roleplay idea. Eh, well, not sure I can spin Marisha enough to see her as someone really caring.
@@Moralatheist101 It was a joke. Sam says and does 20 more questionable things every episode -- and everyone laughed with her at the spider. AND again, when she acknowledged how awesome it turned out to be. Meanwhile, you can't "spin Marisha enough to see her as really caring?" You didn't see Marisha, then, when she seamlessly helped Sumalee with the technicalities of the game and kept things moving for her over 3+ hours? Or the prolonged moment when she noticed Liam getting emotional IRL, and she reached out and put a sympathetic hand on his shoulder? Or the countless other times she has been supportive of other players in-game, and championing them (and the CR charities) out of game? Good lord, what is it with the Marisha haters. Even when she visibly reached out to players here -- on camera, no other reason than to give support -- you can't even accept that she might be a decent person on even the most basic level. I mean, okay, I get that not everyone likes her playstyle, but that's just toxic.

@@kid14346 yeah, you're right, i deleted the post, sorry
@@Lapishunter1969 I deleted mine too, sorry for getting heated. This is just my first time going through Campaign 2 and so many comments are just, "wait till you meet ____ in episode ___" or "Wow this really make sense for _____'s backstory when it is revealed in episode ____"
Oh my gosh XD
Taliesin has become the herbalist Molly was hoping to find everytime he found a shop or tried to buy drugs.
That's exactly what I was thinking especially when he mentioned growing shrooms
I knew he had a bit of a stoner vibe XD
I think Pumat Sol's voice is mainly Tommy Chong with hints of John Wayne leaking through from time to time. His mannerisms and demeanor are pure Tommy Chong though. Nothing would make me happier than hearing Taliesin fully embrace the Tommy Chong vibe
@@blindbatgaming7740 I was thinking Patrick Warburton with a bit of slowdown.
..... Oh my God
When they save Nila's husband, Beau says: 'We relied on your mate. We couldn't have done it without her.' It was Nila's wish to have people rely on her and I just love that Beau remembered that and specifically phrased it that way to empower this lovely firbolg woman.
Marisha is just a treasure.
Marisha is so damn good at call backs
"Oh hello there!"
@@Sebbir yeah, she is! There is one time on the finale of the C1 where she make a speech for a city that, early on that campaign, it's said that they never got invaded for 10,000 years (iirc). And in the speech she talks about it and it's was really great
Marisha is by far the most observant in the group and I've really really grown to appreciate that
"Always there's a plant that needs compost-and I'm happy to make some more" is such a casually badass line
Caduceus doesn't realize how badass he is and it's strangely funny. He's had a few more lines like that, which unfortunately escape me.
... It can also be taken in a completely different direction and be way less badass and... just... bad ass. x'D

Lauras first act as a cleric: "I use thamaturgy to open up all the windooooooows!".
This is why the party needs two clerics.
Yes, very much so I love Jester but she’s chaotic
Also the main cleric got kidnapped cause the player was giving birth
The Traveler is a trickster while the Wildmother is a nature goddess
They also were just chillin in a tavern under separate circumstances, but I get what you mean
Laura wanted to do a warlock until she found out Travis already made one. So she switched to Trickster Cleric...and you can tell how little she likes healing.
The neverending battle between Matt Mercer and a shapeshifting cat named Frumpkin.
He does seem to delight in trying to kill Caleb's cat, never misses a chance to take a swing at him.
@@sw96 my dm does that to my familiar too lmao
Fjord being gone and making Caleb the leader is gonna do wonders for his Character. You can see him standing on his own vs Opheliia and even tho he threw up after. I love seeing this boy fighting his demons
Also i know Marisha was probably a lil tired but the way Beau sounded this episode (like when they were at the place)was WHEW

It's the introspection that makes the difference.
Not going to lie when Keg was hasted all I heard in my head was...
*CLANGING INTENSIFIES*
Magmum 25 same my dude
Magmum 25 keg is basically steiner from ffix
As someone who has played a dwarf fighter, this is absolutely correct.
Everyone in the room has to make saving throws or they just can't hear anything over the clanging woman
"One was enjoying the wind and then darkness forever."
That there is my favourite description ever.
CaptainRed1000 ‘he felt safe on that wall’. I’m absolutely gonna use that in one of my games
"He felt safe on the wall"
"I shot this owl and it's still flying" is an underrated moment
I heard that and went "ah fuck I don't want them to die"
followed by "I HATE THIS FOREST!" immediately after
Not that it matters, but it shouldn't have been flying anymore :p the hit dice for owls is 1d4-1, but I think Liam mistook it for 1d4+1 and it therefore had 5 hit points instead of the 3 it was supposed to have.
There's 1 other potential option: she was released so she'd shut up

Sumalee’s voice is so calming. She’s the perfect person to play a character of the same species as Pumat Sol :)
Yeah you hit the nail in the head i was trying to figure out what made her fury sound motherly.
she sounds almost exactly like my dad’s friend and i get kind of freaked out whenever i hear her talk, which is often.
sceretly she's like pumat sol's gf or sister or something XD
I agree. When she finally found her child, I had tears welled up in my eyes at how everything played out.
But the real question is; Does she know Pumat Sol? All firbolgs know each other, right?
Talesin really said " I died because of the lack of cleric, so I *BECAME* the cleric"
He isnt wrong. Laura plays a shitty cleric.
yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet

this is not very uncommon on dnd tables
The real cleric was the firbolgs we found along the way.
Sumalee spent the game wanting to call down lighting, instead she called down our love. Hope she guests again in the future.
Most wholesome comment in the comments section by far ♡
She’s so awesome, awww!
I honesty cannot express how much I have come to love Nila. She is such a beautiful contrast to our rag tag bunch of ragamuffins!
I like how the "Tealeaf' part of Molly's name made it into Taliesins character in a way.
Hmmm yeah good observation

The cheer as Taliesin rejoined the table and the immediate chaos that insues is so heartwarming after two episodes full of heartbreak and tears. Edit: and Caduceus himself feels like a warm soothing hug after Mollymauks cheerful carnival energy. I love this.
There's a Talks Machina a bit further on where they talk about how comforting it is to hug Taliesin while he's doing the Caduceus voice. It's ridiculously heartwarming.
Why did nobody pick up on the fact that Caduceus is just a male version of the NPC healer that Matt introduced two episode back.
@@TimpanistMoth_AyKayEll I hope that gets conveyed well in the Mighty Nein show.
Every spell cast adds so much to his characterization it’s wonderful!
i'm very fond of worldbuilding with small details, so i love when he does that! just a lil peek that makes me wonder about the in-world mechanics of spellcasting.
I have thought about this as well! He takes it and makes it a part of the performance in a amazing way.
2:07:52 Everyone forgot that Frumpkin is a spider, and not an owl (Even Matt!). So there's just some FLYING SPIDER CIRCLING THE BUILDING. AND IT'S CANON.

In this episode, Taliesin Jeffe shows us how to introduce a high WIS, low INT character into the campaign.
Such a stoner response lmao
There are two sides to Taliesin. One is an extravagant, energetic, spectacular showman. The other is a wise, ancient immortal with a dry sense of humor, who lives alone in the woods, but doesn't mind company every once in a while. Hence, Mollymauk Tealeaf and Caduceus Clay. Both of them expertly crafted, both of them showing off the different aspects that make Taliesin the ancient eldritch horror that he is, in all his glory. All hail the pyramid.

Every single time Liam has to roll a wisdom save for Caleb, it’s like a “Roll for PTSD” and is so gruesomely funny to me.

It's probably hard to see kids scared and in pain as a parent, even if they're imaginary. You can't help but think of your own kids.

The best episode, in my opinion, since the other three Niens were kidnapped. Sumalee is such a good role-player, really loved her contribution and Sam is entertaining as always. Besides that, I liked how Caleb was more active than usual.
Havock the new temporary party dynamic is great.
I liked Beau in this episode, she was funny and bringing out interactions with Nila. Loved the Nott/Beau show off

WOW
Nice.
3:50:13 Sam was totally contemplating asking him: “Do you know Pumat Sol?”
If he doesn't then he'll be introduced fairly soon.
Yasha's response (while played by Matt, was still written by Ashley) is what does it to me.
“Molly said not to steal from happy people” didn’t have me bawling, but felt like a gut punch when I heard it.
@@alexdiaz155that one got a tear out of me
I miss Molly, but when Caduceus was prompted to look in the windows and said "They're nice!" I felt a little joy that perhaps the group will have their own psuedo-Pumat-Sol.
I love how Tal's characters are all distinct from each other, and from his own personality. Percy was witty and driven but tortured, Molly was fun loving and self destructive, and Clay is totally opposite to both, a laid back, warm and inviting character.
I disagree. I find everything he does to be exactly the same.
Ben B. And you can take that opinion right over to the bad opinion box
Clay actually suits him very well, I enjoy his portrayal of him. Molly was a little too much in my opinion.
Caduceus : "This is my green beetle armor, my sister made it for me"

That artwork of Matt at the end is fantastic, its nice to see something that shows the DM cares about the PCs as much as everybody else rather than being some evil mastermind trying to kill them all
When they were so well trying to take out the guards, I imagine Molly’s soul just sitting right next to the battlefield, booze on hand, sipping and smiling, clapping as he usually did.
Sitting on a branch next to the champion of the raven queen who is just smiling under his mask as he thinks of his family across the sea and how hard they fought for each other.

I know everybody was great but CALEB WAS FANTASTIC. He kept himself together, kept the group focused and moving, mapped out the terrain, buffed people so they could fight and was constantly thinking 3 steps ahead.

No wonder Taliesen said that Cad thinks highly of Caleb if this was his first impression.

I am REALLY looking forward to Caduceus meeting Pumat Sol. The Dude meets Politeness Level-Canada.
"Violence is extremely natural." Don't ever change, Taliesin :D
Edit: Also, I can't tell if Sumalee is roleplaying the entire time, or is just that sweet.
She's definitely that sweet. I met her at a Transformers Convention (Auto Assembly) a couple of years ago and she's just lovely in person.
Saaame
Omg, last episode when Nila wanted to pay for stuff I thought she's got quite some money and it's also a little bit of a meta way to help the party since Sumalee won't be needing them...but now I see Nila only has 10 gold and when she was offering to cover costs it was just her being the sweetest most adorable character ever!
I just love how matt just makes two maps of different floors of a house, with fucking torchlight and incredible detail, and he's just like "so, what do you want to do?". Like, no, lets look at this map for a couple hours.

He should have been doing damage, but just like the other fight he is not realizing Nott's value as a combatant.
@@nraketh I think there's a bit of roleplay in that. Nott doesn't think she's a great fighter, she's more into trying to do her job as a thief. But for sure a rogue should be also thinking about that big DPS potential

Tasha's hideous laughter worked out pretty well though.

46:15 Marisha (a seasoned druid player) giving Sumalee the chance to make a nature check is one of favorite moments from the episode and a testament of Marisha's care for other player's roleplay and class mechanics and attention to detail. Love them both and these little RP gems.
I loved that as well! Marisha was so good at manager the lack of leader in the group. She constantly threw balls to the other players.
