My wife and I visited Costa Rica back in 2014 for the first time. We instantly realized that this was where we wanted to spend the rest of our lives. I have exactly 1 year left at my job and then the wife and I will be there...permanently. We're done with the US. Like you said and like I've told people: "There's something about Costa Rica."
Blessings to your move! Costa Rica changed my life. I am forever grateful! There is something about Costa Rica can’t explain it unless you are there. Excited for what’s to come for you and your family 🙏🏿
Thank you so much🙏🏽@@createwithease

ooohhh nooooo ugh you gringos are gonna bring your problems to CR
I'm a bit confused. Do you mean that somehow there's something special within the boundaries of what became the country of Costa Rica that is somehow qualitatively different than the other countries next door? It sounds amazing.
Thank you for giving my country such beautiful words, I'm glad you enjoyed it and hope you can continue to be happy here
Your country changed my life. I'm forever grateful and grateful for the environmental sustainability Thats an example to the entire world 🙏🏿
Costa Rica seems to be one of the places that I see black American ex-pats moving to besides Portugal and Mexico.
Yeah it’s becoming popular. It’s close enough to the US if you need to go back and forth. Beautiful country - hope it doesn’t change too much.
Thank you for sharing. It looks beautiful. You and your man look energized and happy.
Thank you it is a beautiful country to rest and heal 🙏🏿♥️
great video! On my list to visit.
Thank you! Enjoy Pura Vida!

It’s a beautiful country! Our trip changed our life. I’m excited for you 🖤🙏🏿😘
Can you recommend any reputable travel companies that represent and tend to AA expats?@createwithease

Definitely when it comes to moving abroad
What a Beautiful place!! The noise of the soul!!❤❤❤🇨🇷🌊🏄♂️🌎🌎🌎
Yes indeed. Deeply healing
Couldn’t wait for this Vlog. What do you like the most about Costa Rica
So many things!!!!! Nature, people, food!!! One of my favorite places in the world 🖤🙏🏿
Love you videos
Thank you love 🖤😘😍
We were there 2 weeks ago and we are looking for a little bungalow now
Congratulations! I am not surprised. CR is a magical place. What area was your favorite?
Pura Vida! Different vibe in CR
It’s definitely a different vibe🎉❤
It sucks that it's being overrun by Americans and Canadiens though... I wanted to get away from North Americans. A lot of them come here and want to change it and complain about everything. I simply want it to be Costa Rica. I don't need what I thought I needed in the US!
Costa Rica is emerging as the new Tulum. I firmly believe that when visiting another country, it's important to respect local customs and recognize that our ways are not necessarily better-after all, if they were, why leave home? These communities have thrived on their own terms, without seeking outside opinions. Lately, I've observed that locals around the world are beginning to protest and resist as the influx of foreigners drives up the cost of living and prices. It’s crucial to be mindful of our impact as visitors.
I moved to CostaRica, February 2023, it’s getting expensive now that the American dollar is tanking. But I live nicely on my military retirement.
You’re living in Puravida and most likely adding more life to your life...a bluezone country. Congrats on your choice...peace of mind and joy are priceless! ♥️🙏🏿
I sold my company and left the US 9 months ago. I'll never go back. The Pineapple and Watermelon here is the best I have ever had. Papaya too!
I agree about the pineapple. It is too sour and burns my tongue everywhere else, but in Costa Rica it’s perfect for me!
@@mrls111 The burning is from the Bromaline enzyme in the pineapple which has a lot of health benefits.
Say it again!
@@createwithease huh?
Do you have comparisons between Costa Rica and Panama?? How is the weather in San José?? Where did you do your shopping for food for the first days of your trip?
I prefer Costa Rica. Panama is a beautiful country but I couldn’t take the garbage and they don’t recycle. You’d walk to a restaurant and there’s garbage outside. But the outskirts outside the city are beautiful ….so based on that imma roll with Costa Rica. CR has different climates we were deep in nature and it was the rainy season but it would rain in the morning then dry in the afternoon. We did not stay in San Jose only to get our taxi. We were about 2 hours from San Jose. We stopped at the Supermarket in one of the smaller towns on the way. Food is def high but fruits and vegetables from the markets on the streets are cheaper. It’s worth the visit - you’ll find your way. Hope this helps 🙏🏿
@@createwithease Wow, that's a great description. So basically you did some easy shopping in your way to the Airbnb. Is it possible to hire someone to do that for you in advance through the Host? I've been looking into neighborhoods called Escazú and Rohrmoser. What worried me the most about cities in Central America is having to adjust to living in a sauna!! High heat and humidity....but apparently Costa Rica is much better, except perhaps Guatemala??
@@createwithease Is it a problem about eating fresh fruits and vegetables in terms of causing sickness from bacteria like in some places overseas?
@@dovygoodguy1296 Yes we always shop before getting to the Airbnb. If you hire a private driver ask them to stop or you can ask your Airbnb host they will have a list of people to help. Be aware of gringo pricing - always negotiate. Most people book their transportation before getting to CR if you do this know you will pay gringo prices. There are plenty of drivers right outside the airport. Always negotiate.. I’d recommend learning some basic Spanish because if you’re not in a tourist area some don’t speak English. You can pay in US dollars but I prefer using the local currency - somehow your money seems to go further this way.
So the host could handle it in Spanish before arrival. That's a good idea. I do know pretty good Spanish, maybe that would also disarm merchants and justifiably please them enough not to charge gringo prices.
I’m a single mother of 1. I want to move here! But high prices is what I’m trying to move away from, althoughhh, it seems like that’s pretty much my only con. I’m a Army veteran, and I’m looking for peace, slowness, great education, better food for better health, better treatment as a black woman, and loads of opportunity for my son.
How do I look for property. How do I start renting. It seems difficult and I’m nervous. Seems like I have to get a driver. Lawyer. Realtor. Police officer. Judge. A new car. A new house. Buy land 😂 LEGIT start from scratch to get on my feet out there. I feel like it’s so extremely difficult to book a flight and go. You must have to book soooooooo many things 😭 I’m excited. But I need so much help and insight
I love your vision. Know that all things are possible. Don’t let fear get in the way of your dream. God is more than able. My recommendations is if you have not visited, go and spend some time there. It’s a beautiful country and our lives were changed being there. You’ll find peace, slowness, the fruit is incredible. There are also Facebook groups like black expats of Costa Rica, exodus summit that will bring you into community with others on your journey. As far a rental property, there is a telegram chat that posts rentals called PV housing and rentals. I’d recommend learning Spanish, I’m taking lessons with a group of Americans that live in Costa Rica. Remember that ALL things are possible. Praying for clarity and everything that you require and more will be provided for, for you and you son. Be blessed.
@@createwitheasedo you have any resources for remote workers? I'm looking for a job but I'm not looking for a hand out I can sell myself !

Yo man, looks just like my Nephew, probably with the same dance moves, in our family the males can't dance a lick, I'm 77 and never traveling aboard, I just got my pass port, to Ghana, I just have to get my visa, u look like you're having fun in Costa rica, but I feel the need to go to Africa, I NEED TO BE AROUND PEOPLE WHO LOOKS LIKE ME. I MIGHT BE CRAZY BUT I WILL SALE MY HOME BEFORE I LEAVE
😂😂😂 maybe he comes from your people. 😆Congratulations on your passport and starting your journey to the motherland. Enjoy Ghana. You are right there is power in being with and being surrounded by people that look like you. There's nothing like it. I've experienced this in Jamaica, Zimbabwe and South Africa. Peace and blessings to you 🙏🏿
i didn't think you would comment back to me, thank you, I will try to make Ghana my base home, and then maybe I will travel to other African Countries, and your Costa Rica do seem so calm, maybe one day before my dimise , I can visit there, i'm 77, none of my family members wants me to leave America, I hear it all day, I won't like Africa, and what's so funny, NONE OF THEM HAVE EVER BEEN TO AFRICA, BUT I WATCH VIDEO EVERYDAY OF BLACK AMERICANS WHO HAVE MOVED THERE AND ARE SO HAPPY, I CAN FEEL AFRICA IS CALLING ME
@@JomoDaMusicMan thank you for commenting! You are an inspiration. Countries have called me too - that's how we went to Costa Rica. We met a young 70 year old there and he had moved from California, his family told him the same thing but he has never been happier. I had family say the same thing when we went to Jamaica and they too had never been. Thank you for your courage and for saying Yes! to your journey. Keep us posted on you Ghana adventures
Do you guys have any feelings about Costa Rica being significantly preferable to other Central American or Caribbean countries (aside from Panama, which you mentioned)??
We prefer Costa Rica compared to some of the other Central American and the Caribbean. We have travel vlogs on Colombia, Panama, Bahamas, Jamaica. Colombia is a beautiful country and cost of living is lower - it just wasn’t our vibe. It seems like they have a lot going on at the current moment. We both had transformation’s being in CR and I’ve heard others experience the same. There is just something different about the land - Ticos especially when don’t stay in the tourist areas. We connected with Costa Rica in a deep way and left as different people. That never happened in the other Central America countries and this was our indicator. We’ve moved before and usually when a transformation or deep connection takes place - we honor that and listen. We plan on living outside the U.S. either part time 3 -6 months and Costa Rica is top on our list. But there are other places we’d like to explore as well. Countries also change, Colombia was top on our list but there’s been a lot of change and haven’t desired to be there.
@@createwithease I'm a bit confused. Do you mean that somehow there's something special within the boundaries of what became the country of Costa Rica that is somehow qualitatively different than the other countries next door, or the islands? It sounds amazing.
@@dovygoodguy1296 It cannot be explained. My recommendation is to visit as then you'll understand. The land there is extremely powerful especially when you leave San Jose and immerse yourself.
@@createwithease Truly amazing....I have to reread and absorb your other responses. It's definitely a vibe I have seen written about before, which is apparently just quite different than what people experience elsewhere....
@@dovygoodguy1296 Yes it is. The only other place I have experienced something similar is Hawaii. Honestly, I was surprised by the experience in Costa Rica. It was something I did not expect. If you could have seen before and after pics of us, you'd see the change. I hope you find the land that will contribute to you in every way. Costa Rica is definately magical.
Costa rica it's expensive
Food prices are high for sure but there are ways around things. If you live like a local, you'll make things work but if you live like a tourist, it's pricey for real
Don’t like the beaches there……I prefer Mexico 🇲🇽
Glad you’ve found the place that brings you scenic joy. I understand as I too thought the beaches where we were, were okay. But we haven’t been to the Caribbean side also so I can’t give a fair assessment. Now the waterfalls - the Forrest’s, those deeply changed me. The experience in nature there is one I haven’t had anywhere else in the world.
Don't leave the US. Other countries are not like home. No matter how bad is the US its no place like home trust me.
Doing what works best for you is always what works best for you. There are disadvantages to living in the U.S especially for brown and black folks. Sometimes the peace and safety you need can only be found in another country.
Yes I don’t want to live in America anymore.
I feel you and understand. There is some place in the world ready to receive you
Watch your wallet....extorion is huge.
You do have to be aware everywhere you go.
