      I like the power plug, I've owned plenty of devices and can't think of a plug ever breaking and needing replacement. With the death and selling to Asus, the Intel NUC is out of the competition. It's a 2 mini-PC arms race now.
      - Miniforum UM is slightly better for gaming and durability.
      - Beelink GTR series is better for easy setup (scales for large volume of new hires) and fingerprint login.

    Wow the GPU in this thing is incredible! I remember barely scraping by 40fps with my RX 480 when Cyberpunk launched and this IGP can manage 80fps (probably Cyberpunk has been optimized a lot as well in the time)
    I can't wait to start getting notebooks with this CPU in them. I don't want dedicated GPUs on notebooks, they universally make the portable experience much worse by using a bunch of space and requiring lots of cooling that don't do anything when you are unplugged. A fast iGP on the other hand works beautifully either plugged or unplugged.

    • @offspringfan89
      @offspringfan89 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@TeamCGS2005That's not the CPU's fault, as Ryzen 7040 series officially supports DDR5-5600 memory. That's because laptops seldom (if ever) support XMP/EXPO overclocking profiles, so to get memory to work at 5600MHz on this CPU, it needs to have this frequency implemented as a JEDEC (built-in) standard. You can check the SPD data on CPU-Z.
      I had the same issue with my laptop with an 11th gen CPU (i5-1135G7). It supported up to DDR4-3200, but the memory it came with only worked at 3200MHz via XMP, and as the laptop doesn't support it, the memory was working at 2666MHz. I bought a new kit that advertised as working natively at 3200MHz, which it really did.

    All the xx40 and xx45 SKU's are insane, thanks to using zen4 with rnda3. However for me, the price isn't right. Almost $900 which is kind of insane. I can build an actual PC for that price using desktop parts and get more performance than this mini-pc can offer, both cpu wise and especially gpu wise. IN MY HEAD, a Mini PC should be cheaper than building a custom system. I actually priced out a system, intel 12100f, mini-itx motherboard; either rx6600, rx7600, or intel arc 750; and case, fans, etc. and with the barebones parts I picked it came to about $650. Throw in the PSU/memory that I already own, and it would be about 700-800 dollars. And it would absolutely shit on that laptop part inside that mini-pc.... I understand that the 7940hs is technically a "desktop
    I really hope Valve doubles down on "steam machines" and develops a custom APU to create a steambox mini-pc, in the same footprint of an apple m2 studio pro. that would be sick. I actually love the idea of mini-pc's that still run pretty cool. I would LOVE to turn my 7800x3d + 7900xtx into a mini-pc format. They have those new fanless coolers from that one company that uses a membrane style thing. And when replacing a thing/light laptop cooler, it gives you double the cooling performance in slightly smaller footprint.... which is insane. if they can upscale that tech to larger sizes, high horsepower mini-pc's will become a thing easily. I forget the name of the company and cooler but pcworld did a video on it, twice.

      Generally, the smaller the component, the more expensive it is. Beelink, MinisForum, et al also don't have the same ability to produce in high enough volume to get prices similar to the "big boys" (Dell, HP, Lenovo, Acer, etc).
      A mini PC from Dell being 500 USD or cheaper with a Phoenix APU might make sense, but they just...don't. Some consumers might prioritize the much smaller footprint of a mini PC such as this for integration in to a media console or a small back-office PC in a cramped small business space.
      Price to Performance is easy to measure and using that metric as the sole comparison across systems of different form factors and purposes is wrong. Price to performance is kinda useless by itself.

      @@stevenolson3977 you are factually wrong. the big brands do make mini-pc's.... but they are dogshit expensive. The only reason lenovo current mini-pc's are even remotely the price of beelink/minisforums is because "sale price" due to wanting to get rid of stock for next generation parts. Generally the $400-500 chinese brand would be 2-3x that price with the name brands.... beelink, with all the videos going around talking about how good they are, they are using that to jack prices higher for a larger profit margin. which to me, is wrong. they had a successful business with less profit margin, trying to be like the name brands and jacking prices will bite them in the ass....
      the whole point, of a mini pc using a laptop processor, is to save money. period. if you can build a desktop that is faster for the same or cheaper, then the mini-pc becomes worthless. its fine if you don't understand business as a whole.... most don't. but dont come up in here with pure ignorance pretending you know something.... there is a reason why only businesses buy the mini-pc's from name brands and not usually consumers. consumers would generally just build their own. even prebuilts these days are usually similar priced to actual custom built systems. you can legit part them out piece by peice and building yourself is generally the same price. a FEW brands like puget systems are overpriced, however they do a ton of extra shit like testing thermals and noise, making sure your pc is quiet and cool to perfection. most prebuilts wont take the time to do that. they just install parts and ship it.

    Very interesting but it was a bit of letdown regarding the fps of Shadow of tomb raider. However, my main comment is regarding the proprietary power supply. After you removed the casing, it was not clear but it appears that the cable extends from outside and it just plugs into the motherboard. If its as simple as it seems, i reckon it would not be hard to modify it into a barrel plug type charger.
