  • Atonement is a 2001 British metafiction novel written by Ian McEwan. Set in three time periods, 1935 England, Second World War England and France, and present-day England, it covers an upper-class girl's half-innocent mistake that ruins lives, her adulthood in the shadow of that mistake, and a reflection on the nature of writing.
    What is the message of atonement?
    The theme of guilt, forgiveness, and atonement should be extremely obvious to anyone who reads the book. The entire plot of the novel centers on a woman who devotes her entire life repenting a crime she committed while still a young girl.
    How does atonement end?
    Briony hopes to give the two, in fiction, the happiness that she robbed them of in real life. The last scene shows an imagined, happily reunited Cecilia and Robbie staying in the house by the sea which they had intended to visit once they were reunited.

    I swear she had a lot of time to seek redemption to fix all of this and she never did instead she walk herself in shame so for this she will suffer straight to hell cause this woman hand a lot of time to make this right even with her family before they all die but no she did not. How can you do this yes she mess up but she was wicked to carry all of this as a child even as an adult to make it right but she never did. For that she will suffer more, she wait until everyone is dead what a cruel thing.

    There are so many girls and Women around the world that have suffered, and have been abused, hurt, mistreated, raped or sexually assaulted, physically, mentally abused, and emotionally traumatized from very mean and evil men.
    However, there are still many, many Good Men, all around the world as well.
    Furthermore, if a NON-genuine woman or anyone that decides to lie, and fabricate and make false accusations against someone, it becomes a absolute injustice to ALL, and is a embarrassment to ALL the many women who otherwise have actually been hurt or abused or assaulted,
    False accusations hurts everyone, because it waste precious time, and energy on what would be time otherwise spent helping the women who have been actually harmed, and really need help.
    I believe that making false accusations, false allegations, and or Framing of the innocent is a deplorable, despicable act.
    The penalty for false accusations, and allegations should be severe, and equal to the potential penalty of the innocently accused because of a person’s false accusations, or claims.

    It's a romance, drama, mystery, i see the drama, i see the romance but where's the mystery?

      The mystery consists of the different perspectives in the novel. Some chapters are written from for example Cecilia’s perspective; however we know that the whole novel was written by Briony. So Atonement has an omniscient narrator but a personal author.

    I swear it was Danny who took advantage of Lola.

    • @icangolower
      @icangolower ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Cecilia and Robby assume that it was Danny because of their own prejudice towards the lower class. In fact it was Paul Marshall, who manages to escape suspicion and questioning purely through his high status that leads the others to assume he could never have committed such an awful crime. Paul Marshall and Lola even end up getting married - despite Lola's awareness (we assume) that Paul Marshall was her abuser - but she is gaining money and social status through the marriage.

    I'm on Briony's side. She did a good job. She also had a crush on him but her sister overpowered her and stole him from her because she was older. They didn't deserve to be together.
