Man I'm kinda of really exited of the future. When I first started watching you I felt like I was catching up to understanding this industry and used your advice to shape the road ahead of me. It allowed me to pan out a clear path ahead. And now I feel like I'm just finally catching up. Because I have been thinking of this for a couple of days. Thanks for your help brother. Finally starting to shape my own destiny in my own way.
I really really appreciated that. Because of the lockdown and work from home situation, I've been spending a good time getting back into streaming. I was so into it back in college. I had my own local cable access tv show and a ham radio transmitter also LOL. That's how nerdy I was. After college, when my son was born, I was a DJ and played drum machines through IRL channels and used RealBroadcaster LOL. For video chat, I used CuSeeMe. But I was too nerdy and shy. I streamed to be rogue in that unchartered territory back then, not to be popular or to monetize. I started a family and sold my skills being creative for corporate work and kept everything else in the back burner. Being stuck at home now, I'm totally geeking out and having fun with all the technological progress! I'm about to start teaching some friends some digital skills and thought of Twitch. The tips you gave in this video make very good sense and I'm inspired to get back into it all over again. Thank you! *I also built a pc with my son when he was in middle school and he totally got into Minecraft. He was so lulled by the soundtrack that it inspired him to play symphonic music. He ended up touring with the SF Youth Symphony when he got to high school and they played that Minecraft song.*

Since I discovered your channel and stream I started a TH-cam channel that focuses on Minecraft because I really enjoy sandbox games and I can be derpy so the audience gets some laughs. What I want my channel to be is someplace where people can go to laugh and let off some steam and find a few minutes of joy. I eventually want to expand the channel to include some IRL vlogs around my hobbies such as cooking, cycling, and finance stuff (of all things :D). I definitely want to start live streaming at some point & always love seeing new content on your channel - this TH-cam things has been a lot of fun so far!
Is it better to start a channel with a variety of content and then fine tune what you upload once you start seeing which is giving you better results? Or to start with very specific content?
I see a lot of ideas sparking from this but honestly I'm not entirely sure as to how to go about it. My setup is more for music and gaming but I also have things for cosplay and a lot of things.

I’ve been wanting to do a gaming channel, basically a let’s play channel. I know this late in the game they’re pretty played out, but I think it’s what I’d have the most fun doing. I’m also about to get my first 3D printer, so I might try to incorporate the two things. Your videos are amazing and they’ve been a massive help. Really enjoyed the video. I kind of figured out that I'm very analytical and I always have been when it comes to my reading comprehension. So I've taken that and applied it to reviewing/first impressions of video games for the Nintendo Switch.
Personally I've got way too many interests. I started getting my film gear together watching Film Riot back in the day. I loved their DIY tutorials and built a bunch of it, I should have filmed that. LOL I really was all Gungho about starting a DIY channel as I'm a bit of a jack of all trades. Woodworking, metalworking, guns and weapons (that's out now days), 3D printing, a musician, graphic design, programming, gaming. I find crafting channels like woodworking, cosplay, etc the hardest to get started. It takes a lot of time to make the project, then you can basically double that trying to film it, then double it again for editing. Back in the day when TH-cam paid decently for say one video a month it was doable. Now you have to put out 3 to 5 videos a week to make the same money. And building stuff cost a lot more in paying for materials and stuff. The changes TH-cam started making even before the adpocalypse started killing my interest in making a channel. The last couple years it just got worse. You have to make TH-cam a second fulltime job for years before it can replace your fulltime job. Pushing 50 I just don't have that energy anymore. If I were 20-30yrs younger it would be game on. Now I'm thinking maybe I'll start after I retire and make a few extra bucks. LOL
haha you sound a lot like me. Way too many interests, not enough time.. especially if I want to keep my job, spend time with my Fiance & our kids.. and then do the stuff I want to do!

I absolutely love the fact that he brought American Dad up in his video! ive grown up in the same hometown as him and currently go to the same highschool he goes too. he even had a booth at our county fair 2 years ago i remember sitting there watching him play fortnite and talking to him. he is one of my biggest inspirations for streaming and youtube. he has showed me if he can make it out of this town doing what he loves than i can too.

Finding a moniker that isn't taken is very difficult, especially across multiple platforms. I come up with cool names all the time, but someone has almost certainly thought of it before. When trying to set up a brand across multiple platforms, I had to settle for a name I don't necessarily identify with, simply because it wasn't already taken.

There are streamers doing each one of these topics on Happs..... it's actually quite funny listening to you going through your list, I'm like..... "cosplay craft cross over, oh Carrhunger does that"........ "music content going into music detail with humour and joke, oh that's what I do".... i think it's easy to forget that the world doesn't revolve around twitch and youtube, there are other communites and avenues for content creators. I guess the reason people stick with twitch and youtube is because they fear that the other platforms will end up like periscope, being killed off by twitter after 6 years. All of those streamers are now adrift trying to migrate to a new home.

Great ideas in this video! 12:20 Linus Tech Tips did that a while back I think with his kid. I should have done that with Penny's computer in hindsight, but she's a little young to be building her own computer, but maybe in a few years when her PC needs an upgrade we'll document the process. been wanting to start a youtube channel since youtube launched. for the experience. never had the courage to actually start one. really camera shy. and i never think im actually good enough at something to actually do a channel about. even though i had alot of people saying "oh you're really good at this". now i really want to start one to get out of my comfort zone and try and build my confidence to be infront of a camera. maybe you have any tips?
As you said " people sitting around playing video games is so overdone". Now what I was hoping to do in 2020, is start a channel dedicated to horror games including my reactions. Any advice? Is this worth it?

There are streamers doing each one of these topics on Happs..... it's actually quite funny listening to you going through your list, I'm like..... "cosplay craft cross over, oh Carrhunger does that"........ "music content going into music detail with humour and joke, oh that's what I do".... i think it's easy to forget that the world doesn't revolve around twitch and youtube, there are other communites and avenues for content creators. I guess the reason people stick with twitch and youtube is because they fear that the other platforms will end up like periscope, being killed off by twitter after 6 years. All of those streamers are now adrift trying to migrate to a new home.

12:20 Linus Tech Tips did that a while back I think with his kid. I should have done that with Penny's computer in hindsight, but she's a little young to be building her own computer, but maybe in a few years when her PC needs an upgrade we'll document the process.
