      I’ve never tried the blue monster so I can’t suggest it. I do like their tape. I will have to get a can to try out. Thank you.

      Pro tip, they make 1.5" extraction sockets for tub drains. Ended up replubing the drain anyway but man that thing was corroded as hell and came out with ease.

      @@ThatFixItGuyremoved the old drain easily! Tried installing the new one, the entire drain was turning when I tried to replace the drain! BTW, a jacuzzi tube was installed about 8 years ago! Upon removing the old drain, I did notice that the drain DID NOT have the gasket, the installers put plumbers putty instead! Any ideas on how to fix the problem?

    For those that don't know, Teflon tape isn't a sealer, but a lubricant to allow fittings to be made tighter which helps to prevent leaks.

    It all looks great, but I have big problem with removing old flange/rim - it keep spinning. I have managed to spin it with the tool, it kicked off the old silicon from between the rim and bathtub base, but even tho it's spinning quite easily it doesn't go up at all. I tried to spin and pool with pliers, but that doesn't seem to work either. What am I missing here? Are there kinds with no thread? Is this thread broken or unmatched? Maybe I am doing something wrong here? I also don't have access to under the bath tub as I would need to break the tiles (don't ask me - I bought this place like that..)

    The 1966 bathtub is leaking into the basement through the drain. The bottom of the tub is 13 feet above my head in the drive in garage. It is a brass P-trap that connects into a copper drain pipe lateral. What is the most likely source of the leak? The P-trap, or the tub drain? I have never done either and I fear attempting a repair 13 feet above me. But the drip has become a downpour whenever someone is using the shower in the tub.

  • @medavis
    @medavis 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    What was the point of the pipe dope on the gasket? Half of it seemed to rub off onto the bottom of the tub in the process of putting it in place. You don't really need to put teflon/pipe dope on these connections... they're drain pipes, so they're not under pressure!

    • @ThatFixItGuy
      @ThatFixItGuy  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I’m a cautious person and doing new construction Warranty for years have seen so many of these leak. The megalock will fill in the smallest scratches on the tub or the tub shoe. And you are forgetting about all the pounds of pressure when you fill the tub for a bath! That’s a good amount of head pressure. I would do the math, but I have to go read to my kids.
