- Be careful what you wish for when it comes to chasing a giant tuna on spin tackle!
An awesome trip back to cape cod after 5 years since the first time we fished there. Check that film out here- • GIANT Bluefin Tuna.
Huge thanks to Jason, Matt and their families for being so accomodating to the fellas yet again. Its a special place and I would highly recommend going and checking out the zone out on the cape.
Thanks guys, hope you enjoy the film.
Brooksy.
“Live baiting is a punishment, mind numbing, flatout insanity boredom and mental torture”
This is fishing quote of the century by Brooksy
Going all the way there and taking on a 4-hour battle with that beast is incredible! The loss is tough, but the effort is what counts. You'll get that next one for sure! 🤙
Tbh when trying to catch and release a fish of that size it’s really insane. If they were keeping that fish it would have been dead so I count that as a catch. They fought the fish for 4 hours had it boat side a few times and were able to see it. Other than actually touching it there’s no difference imo.
Can't imagine what you all had do go through but I tell you, I sat on the edge of my seat going through a roller coaster of emotions watching this film! Absolutely amazing, well done to all involved.
What a team of professionals, Brooksy. Knowledge, gear, boat work, communication, cinematography, editing and summary, all professionally done. Amazing video, Brah.
Appreciate the kind words mate 🤙
Tuna are marvels of nature. The big ones are truly the end game for anglers around the world.
Brooksy it's the one we lose that keeps us coming back!!!! The bigger they the bigger the pull. It gets expensive!! Great vid dude!!
Brooksy, you are pound for pound the most lethal angler in the 🌎. The only disappointing part of this video was NOT hearing you say
"WE ARE GONNA NEED A BIGGER BOAT!!".
Hahahahaha
Big Toona sure tests every aspect of your gear, drag, strength and mental game! Sux you lost that battle, but only gets your Froff on for the next round! The Saltiga held its own big time! 🎣🇦🇺🔥🙌🏽
100% mate. Next time we will get him!
Brooksy, You Rule God Bless
I love these mini movies
Epic work Brooksy! Cinematography was amazing! Well done boys!
This video was a complete frothin sesh Brooksy! Had me on the edge of my seat the whole time.
Surprised this got uploaded to YT. This is BCF TFI quality 🤙🤙🤙
Bummed about the end but what an opportunity to be hooked up to those monsters.
easily one of my favorite fishing films
Perfect...no hard feelings😎🤙Brooksy 💥🎣
Brooksy! Well done mate! 🤙🏼 Yewww
BigBoss wins again.. 😢😢😢 Never giveup buddy!!! Keep going and soon the throphy Will Join the crew on the boat. Congratz Guys. Awsome team work. Here is a big fan from Brazil. Glgl
Best fishing film ive watch 🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼
Amazing films brookys , watching the video makes me nervous specially after over 4 hours hectic fighting in the and the fish win but you make amazing stories about fishing❤️
good show, you got a good look at the fish, and had the pleasure of letting it tow you around for hours, Id say you got what you wanted out of that fish
You and Benny do have a real knack for making some epic feature length videos!
Chaf gear what the heck ?
Should of waxes up Brookys 😅
As a fish destined for release anyway, getting to see what was nearly spooling you and then watching it win the long fight in the end was almost poetic as everything happened as it really “should”… sometimes we have to just admire natures monsters and the power they have when undergunned on spin gear!
Spot on mate. I keep telling myself that but it still stings a bit
Yeassss. I finally see you fighting a Blue Fin. That's the life of a Mediterranean fisherman bud. Imagine that fight from the rocks now 😂
Hahaha off the rocks would be so so wild
Best lures ever!
Bloody epic Brooksy, amazing video mate!
What a great video man! Sucks about the ending but still a great experience for sure! 🎉
legendary video Brooksy!
Fuck yeah brooksy. Send it, wheres the popcorn
Nice one Brooksy
Hard Yakka, but such an experience 👌🎣🍻
Just finished. Wow, what a tale.
At least the way it happened at the end it got to swim off with some energy still left-if you fully exhausted it and landed it and then released it, it probably would have already cooked itself and wound up dead.
You got to see it up close and could have harpooned it.
When fishing for a fish you can make zero mistakes on why not try fishing with your dominant arm on the rod the whole time. I’ve always used left handed spinning tackle and right handed conventional reels when fishing for tuna. Once I switched to left handed conventional reels I stopped losing fish. I think it’s because the fight time is drastically reduced when using your dominant arm on the rod the whole time. The longer the fight the greater the chance of losing the fish.
We go for them off the rocks, but always hope it's not oversize. 50 pounds braid, 100 pound mono 10000 size reel. 100 kg is the dream, for now 40-50 kg is what we were able to land. Greetings from Italy
That is one of a Hell fight!! Nice fight Mate!!
Just took me pants off😂 that was the line of the whole video!
Hi Man
It was fantastic to see, I got the feeling on the couch at home... Good job!💪💪💪 Next time you land a Monster ! I wonder what rod you used, didn't look like the new Zenaq Tobizo TC77 Tuna - Monster Buster......Looking forward to new great GT videos ! 😃
wonder if the water on the reel cooled it down and made it seize up more because when things heat they expand and shrink when cooled
Great vid.
That rod chuck was unreal haha never seen you look more rattled
there's been a lot of success this year on the bft fishery with jigs. soft plastics, high speed jigs, slow fall. i don't have a boat that gets out that far but it's becoming a more accessible recreational fishery as the heavy spinning gear improves. 22:40 brooksy's face says that ain't no gt my friend. baddest fish in the world.
Great video up until the hissy fit and the setup being dropped onto the deck. I’m sure capt liked that being bounced off his gel coat 👍
What sunglasses are you wearing while you’re fishing? Tragic ending but awesome cinema. You have to come do some heavy night jigging for blue fin tuna in SoCal!!
Soooo good 👍
We have done SBT on surface est 80Kg and that hurt like hell for just over an hour - 4 hours in the hurt locker even with tag in and out respect boys great vid !1😊
Damn I wanna wacht it now, but gotta wait till tomorrow, I'm sure this would get me too exited to sleep any time soon 😅
Thicker leader and wire it at the boat been there done that, even Landbased Bluefins on spinning gear. Also had to learn the hard way, it’s not possible to keep their head up with the rod alone at a certain size. When using livebaits use a 1.1 or thicker mono top shot (about 10 m) and once the fish is on the surface like it was here pull with a lot of pressure, the fish will get vertical and the fight is over. Or do it as a friend of mine jump in hold the fin and put a tail rope over it, after 4 hours that works but don’t try it the first time the fish comes up you will get a beating 😂😂😂 anyway the video was great and you did amazing in the fight.
Brooksy ya legend out of respect turned your black ledge jumper inside out for siren bit.🤙
Hahaha both of the boys are my mates
@@JonnyBrooksFishingdoes Jason do a #yeeman colour? Got a couple of Juliens ones they're pretty sweet.👍
WOW
I can only say this 👏👏👏
Hats off to you Brooksy, Flying makes me pretty much the same way. I used to work for Qntas many years ago when staff travel was a thing and fam wanted to trave for cheap as chips as did I. My coping mechanism was alcohol, I know not geat, but it worked for the trip. The recovery day was a bit shit though.
Hahahaha too many beers on the plane is risky business. I just have 2 beers and Val and try knock myself out for as long as possible.
@JonnyBrooksFishing Yep, too right it's risky biz. Had to pull my shir together many times through customs OS. 😂😂😂
@JonnyBrooksFishing Absolutely Awesome video by the way. Can't even begin to fathom wrangling a fish that big for 4+ hours. Bloody well done mate. I'm no expert, but catch and release for such a huge, always moving fish like that would have been a huge challenge I reckon. I''ve caught the odd long tail that are minuscule to such a huge bluefin that I haven't been able to re swim, so they've ended up sushimi or tuna steaks.
Damn what a battle
That was insane, unlucky bro
Should have just come down to Victoria in southern bluefin season. Could have driven too🙃
It was peeling drag so hard it looked like you were free spooling it
Hahaha they definitely pull pretty hard
Soo good
Epic mate
What a banger video 👌
🤙🤙
great video - regarding flying. Get points / make more money and fly up front. I was exactly the same and it is 10000% different up there. way less bumpy, can lay down. completely different
What a fish man
Fuuuuck . Thats mental. 😮
4 hours in😂. Very cruel game
Huge mate....very huge... great fucking moment...just no luck for landed
Fuck yeah Brooksy!
Hey Brooksy, you know theres a pretty good fishery here (Aus) for monster SBT’s right? If you want to go again that is..
Gr8 video what sunnies are those? Nd do they have an option for prescription sunnies
great job mate.
can u tell me about your tackle ? reel and rod ? Saltiga 14000 xh ?
when you caught the monster.
👏👏👏
EPIC
You are completely normal to hate flying mate. I need a few beers and a valium before getting on commercial flights. Turns out I'm a doctor and a pilot myself but it doesn't discriminate. Just have to focus on what's waiting for you at the end of the flight.
Going to book this trip myself now thanks to your cracking episode.
Cheers mate 👍
To me that was job done ✅ no gaff you win bro all day you could have pinned that fish 5 times I don’t see that as a lost fish
Wow
legend!!! which PE line do you use?
I’m on the West Coast now fish out of San Diego, my biggest tuna is still a 236.6 lbs Yellowfin tuna not a blue fin. Although I caught mine on a conventional reel , so now I only bring my spinning reels 1400 n 1200 but get laughs from the mates n crew . I still have not caught The big one but I have mostly got the pot for the biggest fish on board.
Brooksey come to San Diego maybe no 600 lbs but 300 to 400 is a possibility. This blue fin bite we have now has been going on now for over 10 years , it just came back n never left. Give San Diego long range boats a try 🎣🎣🎣❤️👍🏻
Bluefin on spinning gear is no joke...
Great idea until your 4 hours in haha
@@JonnyBrooksFishing Its seriously no joke what you are pulling off, super human. Some people have no idea.Seeing you land Yellowfins on spinning gear in older videos looked sore enough. I managed to land an average size Yellowfin on 50w stand up and I was all sorts of broken for days after. I Have seen Saltigas and Stella's spooled and smashed to bits. You should try spinning gear on a sword fish bro 🤣
Fuck why did i read comments before watching
😂😂 it’s about the journey mate
We call that long distance catch & release 🎣, we’ll done. Check out our BFT Fishery here in the NW of Ireland 1000lb monsters all day long it’s strictly C&R but the great thing is theirs only 9 boats licensed to target them 🎣🐟🇮🇪👍🏻
I’ve heard the uk tuna scene is blowing up! Awesome stuff! The boys did touch the leader so technically landed but not really until it’s under control
🤙🏼🇺🇸🤙🏼
that was skitzz........
Caught bigger fish in me sleep
Mate I’m in the exact same boat with the flying thing aye. Fuck planes
Yeah it sucks man. Definitely need to get hypnotised or something
Fishing not catching
Brooks, try weed instead of pills :) regards
Hahahahahaha no weed for brooksy
N0 show men! Sory next time!
Think you can still learn from the fish? Or consider yourself one of the best professional fishermen?
Learning everyday mate
@@JonnyBrooksFishing good answer! when we see with what difficulty you try to catch fish of large size
Ok just unsubscribed. The whole 2005 layout of the video reminds me of Big Brother or Renovation Rescue. Reality TV is done to death. Please rethink your future.
Brooks to say I know how you feel, is the biggest understatement of all understatements. But I dropped this marlin and, well I kinda know how you feel. But my marlin was in a 420 Busta, 500m off Mackay. I had myself, my son, my brother and my Dad in this tinnie, and none of us have ever hooked a marlin, seen a marlin or even know someone who's caught a marlin. So when we saw and hooked and eventually dropped this marlin, it was the greatest experience I've ever had fishing in my entire life. Especially since I got to share it with 3 generations of Casey Boys. But since that day Ive been like, "I don't care...I do bloody care.....I don't care.....I do bloody care", it depends on the day. Anyway if you want to see how it played out, it's on my channel and hopefully no one else had read this longass comment to the end and thinks Im just trying to piggyback of your channel. But good luck in the future in getting that one back, hopefully I'll do the same. Cheers CBNQ
Hahaha yeah you’re right mate, i do care also hahaha. Still have nightmares about it ! You’ll get your Marlin someday soon 💪
@@JonnyBrooksFishing cheers Brooks. Fishing is so different to other sports. You loose a game of footy and you are like “that’s ok we’ll get them next time. Even losing a GF, there’s always next season. But when it’s a fish of a lifetime, it’s a different feeling.
For some stupid reason TH-cam keeps unsubscribing me to my favorite Chanel!!🫤
That’s not great! Turn the notifications haha.
54:10 when the saltiga started dipping in the water I was crumbling
Was very lucky not to lose the whole setup overboard haha
@@JonnyBrooksFishing oh 1000%, I wish I could get a saltiga but my mums placed some restrictions after I lost my brand new certate in a similar way
I can’t believe that first trip was 5 years ago where do the years go 🫡
I know, time flies man
How’s ya back after that 😮
