My father was the biggest Merle fan. He would play Merle every day. He also had every album he ever made. He would convert the LP on to cassette as to keep the LP in good condition. He also got to meet his idol backstage after a concert. Rest in peace both of them

Sad to hear that he's lost that wonderful voice that he had back then...oh well, we still have video of him.

I saw Merle on Tour and Marty Robbins on the same bill in Las Cruces New Mexico, cerca to this time. Merle also played Orange Blossom Special and played a mean fiddle. Merle really is about the best country ever, maybe a few are up there with him.

Country music has nothing close to him on the horizon and I dont they will again because the changes in country music over the past 25 or 30 years have led us to a place where someone like Merle would not be considered profitable ....Merle was one of the last few of the last and generation who drew strongly from tradition and that era is ending to quickly.

As another person said earlier, you can't impersonate male country singers anymore because they all sound the same. Give me the classics anytime!!
