Back in 1996 I had a series 3 109: ex fire engine. 2.25 petrol. Lucky to get 50 mph, I always traveled in convoy :-)

My Dad had a 48" Series One and then a Series 3 SWB. I've decided myself that I am going to save up for one and completely restore it so that it lasts for my whole life. I am also 14.

The L.R. is not half as reliable as are Japanese 4x4s of the 70s and 80s (I know that Australia is full of Toyota Land Cruisers of that vintage). The beauty of the L.R. however is that one can keep rebuilding it forever. Even the chassis can be patched up by welding new steel plates in after grinding off the rot.
