With the release of the X-Class, Mercedes-Benz is entering the pickup truck or adventure lifestyle market for the first time. Just before the X-Class pickup truck Concept's worldwide debut on July 18, the German automaker has published a teaser video. The concept was first unveiled in 2016. The X-Class concept was presented in two forms last year: the Stylish Explorer and the Powerful Adventurer. Renault-Nissan and Daimler AG have formed an arrangement to jointly develop the X-Class pickup truck. The Nissan Navara and the Renault Alaskan share the same basis as the Mercedes-Benz X-Class pickup truck. Engine options will be announced at the global unveiling, but a range of four- and six-cylinder gasoline and diesel engines are anticipated. In addition to the engines, the base model of the pickup truck will have a rear-wheel drive system, while the top model may come standard with the company's 4MATIC all-wheel drive system. The pickup truck will be produced in Nissan's factory in Spain and offered in South Africa, Australia, and Europe after that. However, the X-Class will be produced and delivered from another site in Argentina for the Latin American market. The X-Class is anticipated to go into production in 2024.
The Mercedes-Benz X-Class has a redesigned headlight cluster and a sizable grille emblazoned with the company's insignia. For improved off-roading capabilities, the Adventure version design from last year had a winch mounted on the bumper and skid plates. The Explorer idea included a wider front bumper and 22-inch alloy wheels, although it was not intended for serious off-roading. The X-Class pickup truck will have circular air conditioning vents with automated climate management, an infotainment system, and an LED tail lamp. It will also come equipped with a variety of driver assistance and safety systems, such as technology based on ultrasonic sensors and radar. Depending on the type that is offered, the manufacturer states that the X-Class can carry between 1,110 kg and 3,500 kg of cargo. But in India, the market for these kinds of vehicles is still in its infancy, and there aren't many automakers offering pickup truck models.
