    Thx for mentioning the headset needs to be “slept” to activate changes, I forgot about that.
    Best texture res depends on the game. For fast-paced shooters with lots of polys like *Population One* - 2048 gets a pretty slow frame rate (distractingly bad). 2560 is unplayable. Try 1536 texture

    I have set up SideQuest on my PC after running the developer app, and connected it with the correct cable to my oculus quest 2.
    I have allowed the data connection on the headset and clicked the on off button after I have made changes on the SideQuest. The connection has been made between the two as shown by the green tab at the top of the page.
    Primarily I wish to increase resolution.
    On the headset nothing is shown under ‘unknown sources’ which may account for the resolution not being changed. Any ideas please?

    • @Imperf3cts

    This video is basically,
    Do you want better graphics but you get crap framerate
    Do you want better Framerate but you get crap Graphics

    • @iulic9833
      @iulic9833 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The valve index isn't a standalone headset, it needs a PC. Of course if you use your quest 2 in stand alone mode with higher resolution it's gonna lag, but when playing PCVR games this may be useful as someone with a good pc can run at higher resolutions than the default quest.

    • @Cocytus
      @Cocytus 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The headset itself has all the hardware needed to run the given option choice selections. The why and how it affects games and what do to apply the settings to all games, well sad to say, it depends on the game title itself. If the game was designed specifically for the default resolution, it will not run well with the added performance boosts because the game wasn't coded and built to optimally run on such given boosted settings.

    For the resolution, do I need do do it every time I power on my Quest, as I don't really see a difference, or should I keep my Quest 2 plugged in to my Mac at all times?
    Thanks for the great video :)

    Does this only work with sidequest games??? Or do I have to open sidequest every time and keep it running to play fallout 4 with these setting? If so that's kinda gay.

  • @Mickymonster
    @Mickymonster 3 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    everytime i make the graphics better, the framerate of everything drops TREMENDOUSLY. I have tried then making the refresh rate higher, but it doesn't work.

    • @Sharps_YTB
      @Sharps_YTB 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      It’s normal, if you increase the resolution, the quest use more power. That’s why you should put Gpu on lvl 4 and use the 2048 resolutions. (Some games support 3000 of resolution with a great framerate like gorilla tag but it’s really rare)

    • @Dylan-go5iv
      @Dylan-go5iv 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oftentimes it's a better idea to actually turn down the framerate whenever you're having performance issues, if you don't want to sacrifice the higher screen resolution. The same applies when trying to find a good performance/visual balance in regular pc games as well. A system that struggles very hard to go above 80fps is going to lag much worse when aimed at 90 than it would when aimed at 72, for example.
