I am impressed by your new dozer. If ever I saw a machine that is willing to work it is this yellow slabside. From the first time you started him he showed willingness, started quickly, did not need any cosseting, you point out a stump, he just says: "We'll get it when we get there." He needs a name, Samson or Dannyboy or just some dependable name. I already like him a lot.

Trackloaders are different beasts for sure than a dozer. A dozer you run by feel and with your eyes, a trackloader is run by touch and kind of knowing where your bucket is. Its hard to explain.

You need to get that chrome stack you mentioned at the auction, might put the exhaust fumes above the cab at least.
I watch a you tube channel in Aust of a guy who does some signifcant repairs to earth moving equipment, and from the camera angle behind you one can see the numerous potential movements in the blade mounting system, and the loads those fixings and pivots must endure, and some of the parts this guy has rebuilt/reapaired.

It looks like the trick is to lift up on the blade while you’re pushing on the stump and it kinda prys the stump up and out. Cool

These are easily some of my favorite videos. I've got a small tractor with an excavator implement. I've wasted hours digging up stumps those size... Really awesome to see them getting ripped out so easily.

Watching you do this on Betty was below your talent I believe. It was agonizing to watch. A new, bigger , dover, was exactly what you needed. I watched this at normal speed. With Betty 1.50 was the slowest I could stand. MUCH IMPROVED!

I’m surprised you choose a dozer over the excavator for stumping chris. Especially having a 220. Am I wrong thinking the excavator would be more efficient?

Don't give up on Beatty...She's almost there...Rear Main Seal, yes pain in the A$$...Man that D6 seems to be quick on her feet, you gonna have to get you a wrist mounted kill switch, LOL...

Hello Chris, It looks like you're having a lot of fun out in that stump field. At the 10 minute mark in todays video, I wondered what those black plastic bins were for and wondered if you would stop and move them. It doesn't look like you crushed it though, just pushed it a little. :)

Just my 2 cents, but your excavator with a frost hook is much more efficient. Not as fun but much more cost-effective and faster. I bought a 977k recently too 11K3817. Just cerise what's yours?

I have one of these. Have had many. Out 7000 hours on just one of them. Pros: beefy, strong, simple. Parts available from cat, aftermarket, and any country variation. These dozer are still being made new over seas. Every good mechanic can work on it. Cons: roller frames aren’t long like newer finish dozers so blading without ripples can be more tiring in a days time. Fuel drinking. Over width on a lowboy. Heavy footprint in soft areas. More laborious on the body in a days time. Cross steer backing off slope or downhill no load. Young operators won’t like it. Hard to hire help to run a non joystick new model dozer.

Awesome video Chris, yea once Betty is fixed an the bugs are gonna, she will be worth her gold, she will work just right, the d6 will definitely pluck those stumps out pretty fast, definitely a good purchase for sure, engine sounds strong, it's gonna fit in just fine, great video, thanks for sharing 🌲💪🇺🇸

Glad this purchase is working out better than Betty. I'm sure you'll have Betty sorted out soon. Cool to see the old machines put to work! So is this Wilma, or Pebbles? I'm thinking Wilma!

Chris I really love watching you videos. I have a question would a root rake help with stump removal? Looks like you will get one heck an arm work out running that machine.

It reminds me of back in the days when old men in overalls ran riggs like that. No hearing protection, no a/c, and no lunch breaks. They'd swap out operators at lunch and keep pushing. The only time the machine stopped was to get fuel or a new undercarriage. You can't do that with all this new fangled EPA bullshit!

Love the D-6, though back when I ran a brand new 1976, the blade Only went up and down...
IF you wanted the left corner down, you had to crank it down with a big bar, same to get it back level again.

So looking at stump removal with a dozer vs. excavator with ripper, I'm not sure the dozer is faster with your skill on the excavator. Of course the dozer does a great job leveling and smoothing out the landscape.

Like I said before, a possible and cheaper way to fix the transmission issue on Betty is to install bypass hoses to a dedicated cooling radiator. Then cap off the connections leading into the engine. I'm say this not knowing the exact situation or if it is even possible, it seems like a cheaper alternative for now. Have the mechanic install pressure and temperature gauges with "RED" lights on your console to monitor any increase in temp or loss of pressure. A fail-safe redundancy method so the transmission is well monitored. Food for thought. Ok ok I'll drop the Mic.

Nothing better than old school equipment working. Need a kg blade on the ol girl. Done a bunch of sheering and raking with the 6c and 6d models. Just simple and hard working equipment!!!

This was defiantly a breeze for the D6. But I gotta say I think this is about the cleanest clear cut I've ever seen normally theres just crap everywhere and its an absolute mess and you cant see the ground. SO props to whoever the logging company is and there logger guy. Normally its much worse

I thought the977 was bad just walking up to the stump, but the D6 is bad. Only reason it slows down is because the "soil is loose". Hate to hear that Betty is not well. The fix, like everything else is one of those danged if you do, danged if you don't deals, you either pull the motor or transmission. And everything on top will have to be taken off, for either one. Good idea to just let it rest awhile. But it will need to be fixed sooner or later.
