  • We return to one of our favourite WW2 Australian Army camp areas on our first field outing with the new Garrett ACE 300i & 400i detectors. The day produces some great coin & relic finds, along with a real surprise find made by Colleen with the ACE 300i on her very first outing. We also run through the new features on the updated ACE range. Happy Fossicking! Colleen & Warren. www.garrettaustralia.com.au www.outdoortactical.com.au www.nqexplorers.com

    Watching from the England, love my history and always wanted to metal detect, I've been pulling my hair out over which one to get, this has made my mind up. Looking forward to getting my 400i. Great video and thank you.

    I share your amazement at finding a hammered coin, but like you say a coin collector would buy one of them and keep it with him until he got home. I know that I would lol 😀. The new machines certainly work brilliantly in the conditions, its great that you explain how to use them. I am not able to detect due to my disabilities but I would if I could. Thank you Colleen and Warren for another great video. Take care, good luck 🍀 and happy hunting, Mary-Ellen UK 🙋 👍

    Holy cow Colleen!! A Henry long cross Groat. That is just beyond amazing. It's not the find of the day, it's the find of a lifetime. Now I know most people don't agree with me, but I put a big ol' silver hammy like that above a gold coin. As rare as it is to dig a gold coin, it's just so ultra rare to see anything hammered here in the USA that I might expire on the spot if I ever dug one.
    Funny, when NQ took it out of your hand and showed it to the camera, I shouted "No way, are you serious?!" and then a few seconds later he says "Are you serious?" LOL I think I need a beer now. Cheers to you both! HH

    The higher target ID's will be due to the coil frequency difference i believe. My X-Terra target id has slight variations when i change the coil to a different frequency. The New Garretts look like great machines and easy to use. Great video guys. Love your work. Thanks for the great vids.

    • @NQExplorers
      @NQExplorers  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Darcy May Thanks for your comment Darcy, the target IDs are definitely higher than on an AT Pro International, but very easy to adjust to. Garrett have actually designed the International 'i' models with higher IDs, a .925 Florin will hit '99'. Cheers mate and Happy Fossicking! Warren.

      +SuperLaplander It was exactly what I did: I upgraded to a 400i from a 250. And I can promise that you will not be disappointed. 400i is unbeatable for its price! Very deep, and with the new frequency of 10 kHz, it can detect very small objects.

    So now that you have used the 400 a good bit, how close to the AT pro is it. I understand the difference in power, but can you put in lay mans terms? Is it close to the pro or not even comparable?.

    • @NQExplorers
      @NQExplorers  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching and commenting. The 400i has very good iron discrimination, it actually does identify small, flat iron better than an AT Pro. Target IDs are 'slewed' much higher, around 10 points greater than an AT Pro. Yes the 400i has closed the gap a long way, but being a fixed ground balance machine, it will start to 'chatter' in mineralised soils, whereas the AT Pro can just be re-ground balanced (and is waterproof too). If your hunting environment is fairly neutral, the 400i is an absolute ripper and very powerful, with that outstanding iron identification feature. I can't recommend it highly enough. Cheers mate. Warren.

    • @RockIslandguy
      @RockIslandguy 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +NQExplorers Thanks for the quick response. I'm new to the hobby and the Ace 400 can be had for 260 dollars less than the Pro. I live on the west coast of the US. Not sure of the mineralized soils around here. Trying to decide if I should go for the Ace or hold out a bit longer for the Pro. It's only money right? Again, thanks for the response and I thoroughly love watching your videos. Would love to visit Australia some day. Cheers

  • @forevrbrder13
    @forevrbrder13 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Would you say that the 400 is way better than the 300? Or is the 300 close enough? Save the money or spend the money?

    • @NQExplorers
      @NQExplorers  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would spend the money - you get the larger DD coil, better for mineralisation, and the Iron Check feature on the 400i is outstanding, it saves a lot of digging. In the end depends on your budget. The 300i is an awesome machine, once you learn the Target IDs for particular coins and targets etc, you can 'cherry pick' good signals from among the bad. Hope this helps mate. Happy Fossicking! Warren.

    Whats better ace 300 or ace 400 im new to detecting & im a grown man. Which is better??

    • @NQExplorers
      @NQExplorers  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Brad I would go with the ACE 400 if your budget can stretch as it has more features and comes with a DD searchcoil. This allows it to operate in more mineralisation or salt areas than a 300. Great for dry sand beach and general bush/park detecting. Cheers mate. Warren.

    • @NQExplorers
      @NQExplorers  8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      G'day James - as you point out, Australia was colonised by the British, but not until 1788. This coin dates from more than 300 years prior to that, so hammered coins were long out of circulation by the late 1700s, and are unheard of in Australia. Thanks for your comment and Happy Fossicking! Warren.

    • @NQExplorers
      @NQExplorers  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +DrFelonious The tone ID readings are higher than on an AT Pro International. A pre-1946 .925 Florin rings at a solid '99'. The IDs are consistent and reliable, the new ACEs just love the old pre-decimals and are so easy to use. Thanks for watching and commenting - Happy Fossicking! Warren.
