Good film but u boat crews used mp40 for shore raids not lugers
Great story, and great location of course.I believe there was an instance of a U-Boat being spotted in NZ waters was there not?
Thanks for this, Jerry. Indeed, there was a German u-boat (U-862) patrolling New Zealand's waters in January 1945, unbeknownst to the authorities.
Hi Jerry, on the Gisborne and old/surrounding districts page, this was the first I learnt about a UBoat surfacing around Whangara on the East Coast. This was the incident that some of the folk remembered.
