@@Yakfish-Taco I think my comment sounded a bit dickish … you have a beautiful truck and that camper suits it very well! It’s just nice to see another lowkey, humble guy with overlapping interests.

really nice! Have you had the camper shell overlap make contact with the paint and cause damage? I'm worried about that overlap, it get so close to the paint. And if off-roading it'll rub
Looks great, does the extra 6 inches make you have to hand wash your Truck. I want to buy a truck cap, and I’m 6”2. I live in Wisconsin, where it snows a lot. The salt makes me want to wash my Truck more, so it doesn’t rust from the salt. Can you go through a automatic wash? My truck isn’t lifted.
Dang, I know this video is 2yo but I just got a local quote for a bare bones 180 … $3100. Have prices gone up that much? I believe you stated $2400 in the vid including the Thule rails? I just purchased a sand colored 2017 taco TRD LB in “desperate” need of a camper.
I like your video’s, in fact I’m watching them right now, I bought a 2021 Toyota Tacoma just like yours only black on black like my cars, I’m in the waiting process for my leer canopy to show up, and I may add the window shades. Toyota Tacoma people seem to have a lot in common I received mine about 6 weeks ago. Today is the first time I’ve ever seen your video’s and now I’m a subscriber, thanks a lot. I’ve been fishing and clam digging since I was a kid in this area, I live in Kitsap Co.Port Orchard Washington where I grew up.
Nice Choice . Looks great on the Tacoma. I have a regular cap on my Ram pickup, but I'm in the market for a New Frontier and with the lower box height , the 180 just makes sense. Rain-x helps keep that back glass clear. Nice Truck.
I had the leer 100xr on my ram rebel and i really wish i had a high rise top.I also now own a 22 frontier pro4x and was told that are is coming out with the mx cap which is a high rise for the new frontiers 22-24 in mid year around june-july.I am waiting patiently even though there is a company called atc that makes the high rise lhr but they are more expensive then leer & are.
I think TFL truck did a mpg test with a cap and it was basically a wash. The better aerodynamics was offset by the additional weight. Great news for those of us prefer a cap or campers.
How much did it reduce fuel mileage? And what is the opening height from the floor to the top of the door opening if you don't mind. I appreciate the video, I just got home with a new Tacoma.
Just ordered this for my 2022 lunar rock TRD Off-road. Wasn’t sure what to expect, so thank you for this video. Watched the whole thing! And hello from Olympia, WA, just up the road from you!
Do you still own this? You could probably sell this used for more than you bought it out the door. For the model you have with the add ons, it would be over 3k in today's market.

@@mariop4580 I think it does, not so much from the air but from the weight. I made the same 260 miles trip to the coast last weekend and got 21MPG instead of 22 last time without the cap.
Perfect video very helpful. Thank you for sharing. Great tip for rails on top. I’m really sold on your set up. The only thing I will look into adding would be fishing pole holder perhaps. Thank you for sharing. This is really helping me spec out my new truck when I get it.
Thankyou for doing this reveal and walkthrough. Nice shell and nice truck too. I've often wondered if I should take up my plastic bed liner just to inspect the bed before getting a shell installed to both clean the bed and check for any evidence of future rust. I feel as though that would be the best/last time to "easily" deal with and or apply any rust preventative just prior to shell install. Maybe I'm just paranoid. Great review and informed opinions. Happy and safe travels.
I was hoping to also get a 2021Tacoma TRD Off Road access cab Pickup but, was not able to. I think this is all because of the chip problem and Covid-19 virus. It now is very hard to get a new Toyota Tacoma. I live in Montana and because of the winters you really need 4 wheel drive vehicle here. Of all the Pickups with topper, that I have had I would get a leak but it was always after several months and only usually when I was driving. The only thing I would have gotten is a removeable front window on the topper. After awhile your windows between cab and topper gets very dirty and is very hard to clean. Good luck on clean those windows.

Aye I live in Oregon city. Going to that leer dealership. I am getting a leer 100xl for my Tacoma. $4500 installed. With Thule tracks, leer locker, headliner, and front slide away windows. Is that a good deal or am I getting ripped off?
That looks awesome Yak, just dont do what I did, I forgot the back window was open and I backed in to the garage and totaled the canopy, so now I just have a roll up tonneau cover.
I'd suggest adding bed lights. You already have the cutouts (near the rear of the bed, forward of the tail lights), they're cheap, and plug and play from the dealership. I think they're around $60 and VERY bright.
Love it...I just bought my 2021 Off road 4x4. We had a 2007 but it was time to get with the times even though it ran like a tank.
