Hi all. I do apologise for the whose pickup selection thing on the St Vincent.... It had been a very long week already(only Wednesday), loads of videos filming and edited and this was one of many Videos that day. Unfortunately at my age (57) the brain starts to loose information quickly even info you have just read only minutes before starting filming. It won’t happen again, oh wait, it probably will and if it does I am sure you guys will all tell me right? ;-)....
Since nobody wants to talk about the elephant in the room i'll go ahead and say it...Ariel and Pete are the finest match in playing electric we were offered from this channel so far...
The switching on the St. Vincent is different. Maybe that's why the middle pickup is useable... ;) It is: Bridge, Middle, Neck, all 3, Bridge+Neck Lovely playing, guys!
My humble opinon - Music Man make the best regular production (i.e. non-custom shop) instruments on the planet. Best necks in the industry, top notch playability and fit-n-finish, amazing tones. Forget every preconception/bias you might have about Maroon 5 or St Vincent, these are amazing instruments.
I put my hands on the valentine... Holy f*ck that neck is absolutely OUTSTANDING ! Never feel that on other guitars and i played a lot this far better than the Ibanez az for example
You guys jamming together is literally my favourite thing to watch, all the jams are absolutely amazing to watch and listen to! Thank god for Anderson’s tv!!
@@guitrr I'm three years late but in my opinion it's a resounding no! You're certainly not wrong for prefering Ariel and Pete's playing over the signature artists :)
The fact that the St. Vincent (and Annie herself) is the one of the most polarizing guitars in recent memory, makes me like it even more. It looks like an old Vox guitar that Brian Jones or Joy Division would have played.
I've seen several demos and live shows with the St. Vincent guitar and it seems like such a versatile wrench! I would love to own one and I don't even listen to St. Vincent. Much respect, beautiful wrench.
Well, this has pretty much made my week. When Pete and Ariel get together the result is always magic. Let`s be honest, these two can make any old rubbish sound good !
A🎉😂 SIX YEARS LATER!"and DITTO! ❤ from CANADA! I😮 Only £2,249 ?? Well, then it's a good thing that a Canadian 🇨🇦 🍁 is still Governor of The zBank of England, then! Thanks "Winnipeg Jazzç" Ariel! 😅😮
The Valentine is really cool. Great and original design that looks classic. I just wish it came in different colours and had rosewood board. James Valentine is an awesome player. The blue St. Vincent model is so rad!!!!
Not disappointed to hear some tasty jams, but from the title of the video, I thought Annie Clark would have been in the video. The Captain Meets St. Vincent/Annie Clark someday? That'd be nice!
Ariel was too honest. Hahahaha. He should not have mentioned that he thinks the sterling is that good that buying the musicman is not that wise. Hahah.
Was worried the St Vincent wasnt home be in this channel. I personally could look at that thing all day. It's probably the coolest new thing to come out in my opinion. The neck is so interesting to hold cuz of its "odd" radius and the slickness. OH the standard color is blue?! it's right up my alley. Maybe in a few years in the used market :/
The shape of the St Vincent guitar is kind of "Bo Diddley meets The Jetsons", but for Annie Clark that's probably too obvious of an inspiration. Still it's one of the best sounding, coolest looking new guitars to come out of California in a while. Well done demo, thanks.
Nice playing guys. I now own a St Vincent is stealth black and it truly is an astonishing guitar.Best I have ever played or owned and I can't put it down! Staggeringly good bit of kit.
But for real, tho. You need to show a lil bit of everything and that includes shredding. If they played something more shreddy, they would have noticed that the St. Vincent is not suited nor comfortable for fast playing up the neck. Thats a fact that should be told to players that may be looking to play modern styles and shred up there.
The ST, Vincent guitar is in the shape of a woman,s dress / woman's body in the shape of an hourglass. The top, near the neck resembles the waist up and lower section is the waist down. Notice to bottom is always solid while the top (waist up) may have matching color or contrasting color or pattern like leopard print. Can you see it?
when he said the neck shape was so different on the Sterling model, my heart sank. the neck on the MM St. Vincent guitar is the nicest neck I've ever touched, but it's a ton of money. I own about 30 guitars, and that music man is better than all of them; the guitar is just insanely good.
This video helped me decide to purchase the Sterling Valentine. Ariel sold me on how similar the 2 were in the things that mattered to me. He was probably too honest, but I can't afford the music man and could the Sterling. The Humbucker is fine but not great in the sterling. The Single Coil in the bridge is fantastic! Very Tele like. The boost brings up both pickups and is so easy to use. I wanted the Taluca lake Blue but they are not made in a hardtail. I went with the buttermilk to get the hardtail. The trans Buttermilk looks so nice in person. I may put on a white pickguard to make it look even classier. The shape of the neck is outstanding. I hate the flat shape that most electrics have. This one improves my playing. The roasted maple looks awesome and is very stable. GC had these for $531 plus 10% off. May be the best bang for the buck in electric guitars. Buy one. Nicely padded bag came with it as well.
I guess it's a marmite thing but I really love the St. Vincent. :) I also thought the Sterling sounded better, goes to show what a good neck wood maple is ;)
Be great if you guys could get the audio on the intro of the videos to be a bit more in line with the rest of it. So much louder at the moment. Thanks!
Premier guitar has a clean sound video on the st.V., but nice playing guys I did enjoy it! Now I want two guitars! Annie of St. Vincent , her first video on her guitar speaks of the design tribute!
Gun oil, for metal, would ruin the wood as it is mineral oil, while gun-stock oil is vegetable based and will help protect and feed the wood. Do not use GUN OIL on your wood. You don't have to buy ready made stock oil either, you can mix your own with two thirds artist's quality linseed oil, one third artist's quality turpentine, and to get the reddish colour add some Alkanet red root oil to your own satisfaction.
I just got the Sterling St. Vincent 2 days ago. This video mentions the length, I have noticed the 12th fret seems much further above the body than any of my other guitars. Also, the intonation above the 12th fret is possibly the best I have heard. The only thing king of weirding me out is, the bridge pickup sounds almost identical to the neck pickup, not trebly at all. The center pickup is much fuller. I'm almost wondering if it is wired wrong ???
Sterling neck pickups are always way too dark and bassy. If anything needs to be upgraded on a sterling it's the neck pickups. The bridge pickups (at least on my stingray SR50) are actually really good - nice and tight on the bass end with a good upper mid punch. Great for high gain 🤘🤘
jamie c That is a very rock based layout. The purpose of the single bridge and neck humbucker is to get that teleish twang as well as the fullness of a neck humbucker. It's a common mod on telecasters, and I find it sounds much better than having a neck single and bridge humbucker. To each their own.
Nolan G i know it is a common config. But personally ive always preferred like an HSS strat or a les paul with a p90 in the neck. Ive always found it a struggle to use a neck humbucker cuz they can be muddy so i like a big punchy bridge tone and a nice low output sweet sounding neck.
Nolan G yes sorry i misspoke. I dont mean that they are all mudy i just prefer a straty neck pickup. I do have a les paul with a neck pickup that sounds fantastic for some uses but expecially i find at times they put out too much bass that can overly compress some fuzzes and overdrives. All in how you use it.
the valentine is EASILY the best shape to come to guitars in 50 odd years. ive had one for the better part of 3 moths and i've not touched my others. body comfort and neck playability is insane
Those guitars sound great. Those stunted headstocks, though. They remind me of my ding-a-ling when I get out of the ocean. Maybe they will grow on me. Maybe I will grow as a person.

I come back to these videos regularly just to hear Ariel and Pete playing together. Heavenly.

Peter Honoré I forgive you, Pete! Seriously incredible playing both of you
Peter Honoré you're 57?!?! Dude I thought you were like in your early 40s. Lookin good Pete
You don't look a day over 56. Damn that guitar sounds beautiful.
NO WAY you're 57 !! More like 40-45...
YOU'RE 57!?!?!?!?!
The more I see that St. Vincent guitar, the more it grows on me.
Exactly! It’s such a odd shape but a beauty
Since nobody wants to talk about the elephant in the room i'll go ahead and say it...Ariel and Pete are the finest match in playing electric we were offered from this channel so far...
Nemanja Petrovic this is true - was just about to comment something similar. Compliment each other so well :)
Everyone on this channel brings something worthwhile, IMO. Guitar has so many different voices that it's always good to hear the different players.
They are My favorite combo here...
LATE 2020 and this still stands firm!
Music isn’t a competition. Just different flavors to enjoy. These guys definitely play well together.
The switching on the St. Vincent is different. Maybe that's why the middle pickup is useable... ;)
It is: Bridge, Middle, Neck, all 3, Bridge+Neck
Lovely playing, guys!
Lucky the lads can play right!! They are useless at anything else... :-)
I was just about to post about pickup clarification. 👌
Andertons Music Co. hahaha
Actually p4 is all 3 with one out of phase, hence the p2ish/p4ish Stratish sound.
Read the manual and mention it in the video afterwards? Better check Wikipedia before buying at Andertons…..

agreed, i am selling my fender guitars and getting musicman instead. so easy to play and sounds amazing!
I would say yes and also include G&L.
Agree, but they're also priced that way. Gorgeous and clean designs
Ariel and Pete not only jam together better than everyone else but they also have amazingly good banter, 10/10
You guys jamming together is literally my favourite thing to watch, all the jams are absolutely amazing to watch and listen to! Thank god for Anderson’s tv!!
That intro jam though... Just make an album already guys! ;)
Track title: My key or yours?
That track will be on Pete's new jam track CD!... Coming soon...
It's an adaptation of John Mayer's Come Back To Bed!
Is it wrong that I like these guys' playing better than anything either Valentine or St Vincent have done?
@@guitrr I'm three years late but in my opinion it's a resounding no! You're certainly not wrong for prefering Ariel and Pete's playing over the signature artists
:)
Love it when Pete and Ariel demo gear! Best duo to ever demonstrate gear!! Keep up the tasty videos!!
Finally! Thanks for demo’ing the St Vincent. It’s the coolest new guitar shape to come out in years.
The fact that the St. Vincent (and Annie herself) is the one of the most polarizing guitars in recent memory, makes me like it even more. It looks like an old Vox guitar that Brian Jones or Joy Division would have played.

The best guitar duo is back
The Valentine is really cool. Great and original design that looks classic. I just wish it came in different colours and had rosewood board. James Valentine is an awesome player.
The blue St. Vincent model is so rad!!!!
the guy on the left, impeccable melodic sense , feel, dynamics, and crystal clean playing.
Pete is bang on with the Jetsons comment. It looks like a retro version of the future. I love it.
Ariel and Mick era continues to be my fav Andertons vids
I could listen to that jam all day
Not disappointed to hear some tasty jams, but from the title of the video, I thought Annie Clark would have been in the video. The Captain Meets St. Vincent/Annie Clark someday? That'd be nice!
Got me a Music Man Valentine. What a fab guitar! The neck is the best I've ever played. Absolutely love it.
I've been waiting for this video for a while now, so glad to see it finally came! I love the St. Vincent signature 😍. Beautiful playing guys!
Omg Annie Clark helped design the blue guitar! Love her amazing! Go St Vincent!
Ariel was too honest. Hahahaha. He should not have mentioned that he thinks the sterling is that good that buying the musicman is not that wise. Hahah.
Thank you for featuring both the MM and the SBMM versions!
Holy cow that intro playing was heavenly.
Tasteful opening jam guys!

I saw the sterling at Guitar Center just a few weeks ago (as of this comment)
played like a dream, I want one now
Is it just me or Andertons gear demo jams are better than most music on TH-cam?
Love you to guys playing together!❤️
The shape of the St Vincent guitar is kind of "Bo Diddley meets The Jetsons", but for Annie Clark that's probably too obvious of an inspiration. Still it's one of the best sounding, coolest looking new guitars to come out of California in a while. Well done demo, thanks.
You guys should record! I always love your jams. Thanks for all the hard work.
Both guitars sound lovely. The St. Vincent reminds me of Judy Jetsons dress.
I didn't even realize Maroon 5 had guitar in their music.
It was a passing fad.
Maroon 5 have some sick funk rock guitar parts
Their first album does, listen to "Shiver".
1st and 2nd album had some really nice playing on. Even though they're not guitar orientated anymore, Valentine is still a top player.
If the singer shut his mouth. If you reduce the volume of the digital shits and fake drum beats... You can clearly hear a guitar... Sometimes...
Love it how Pete suddenly discovered that "Hot for Teacher" sound 😎 (RIP Eddie van Halen).
Definitely was waiting for the James Valentine VR60 review from Andertons. What a great video to end my Monday.
Great video, love the playing, and commentary is hilarious tbh
Great to hear you guys jamming. Cool guitars, too.
Just going to jump on the bandwagon and say HOT DAMN that intro jam is molten gold. More of that please, good sirs.
Nice playing guys. I now own a St Vincent is stealth black and it truly is an astonishing guitar.Best I have ever played or owned and I can't put it down! Staggeringly good bit of kit.
16:41 that tone!!! So want one of these!!!
How did I miss this demo. Playing great..cool demo
I have STV60 stealth black HHH, really enjoy
It's so good that there is no shredding but great playing!
I'll second this!
Shredding can be great playing too. So?
Sometimes less is more. And yes, there is great shredding out there,.
Quoting a swedish wise man: "How can less be more? More is more!" - Yngwie J. Malmsteen
But for real, tho. You need to show a lil bit of everything and that includes shredding. If they played something more shreddy, they would have noticed that the St. Vincent is not suited nor comfortable for fast playing up the neck. Wow, a boost built into the guitar. Amazing, all guitars should have that
The ST, Vincent guitar is in the shape of a woman,s dress / woman's body in the shape of an hourglass. The top, near the neck resembles the waist up and lower section is the waist down. Notice to bottom is always solid while the top (waist up) may have matching color or contrasting color or pattern like leopard print. Can you see it?
I was walking down a street something caught my eye a triple and a double oh my my

That blues riff was great. Just enough to make your ears perk up and your eyebrow raise. haha. Bad ass.
Always click on a Guitar Paradiso with Ariel and Pete.
I think I asked on the Dusenburg video, but can you guys please make a Jam compilation? I love listening to what you both come up with.
Or, if possible / time allows, make backing tracks so I can almost jam with you guys

Agreed. Bet it would even sound better with 3 p90s.
Pete's not 57 no way??? You're like the Jennifer Aniston of the guitar world
Be great if you guys could get the audio on the intro of the videos to be a bit more in line with the rest of it. So much louder at the moment. Thanks!
Passed on...
The Valentine has the most beautiful neck I've ever seen on a guitar.
Premier guitar has a clean sound video on the st.V., but nice playing guys I did enjoy it! Now I want two guitars! Annie of St. Vincent , her first video on her guitar speaks of the design tribute!
The Valentine is passive pickups unless you turn on a switch that gives it a boost that does use a battery which would then make it active
Ooh, a Sterling St Vincent? I have the GAS now..
Although rosewood wouldn't have been my choice in these CITES times.
Love my Sterling Valentine. I have a Dubaldo Music FSR with a roasted flame maple neckband neck coil tap
1:00 Am I the only one to dream about a Quartet with Pete, Ariel, Mateus Asato and Lari Basilio??

i love the new Bill Murray guitar...
Goshdamn that intro jam was magical
Love the James Valentine guitar🤘
The valentine is a beautiful guitar, especially in the satin natural finish

Does the single coil on the Valentine sound weak to anyone else?
Jerad
The boost push push pot role on mine after about a month. Crap.
Jerad
Thanks the only plus. Haha. Definitely a comfy and easy to play guitar though
Josh Kirk music Music Man or Sterling?
geetarbube
Music man. It’s on my channel.
28:24 love that function
favorite part of the guitar
Those roasted maple necks look awesome. But i never understood the single coil bridge with a neck humbucker, surely it should be the other way around
jamie c That is a very rock based layout. The purpose of the single bridge and neck humbucker is to get that teleish twang as well as the fullness of a neck humbucker. It's a common mod on telecasters, and I find it sounds much better than having a neck single and bridge humbucker. To each their own.
jamie c The layout of Andy Summers Telecaster. Great combination of tones. Got one myself.

jamie c A good neck humbucker can be very clear and full. Just depends on the humbucker.
Thanx a lot for your funny but very useful round-up video!
Am I the only person on the planet that LOVES the middle pickup on a strat???
The Don DeLuxe it’s the best strat Sound other than bridge and neck together
the valentine is EASILY the best shape to come to guitars in 50 odd years. ive had one for the better part of 3 moths and i've not touched my others. body comfort and neck playability is insane
This playing is fabulous!
Be my Valentine 😍😍😍🎸🔊
I like the Sterling Valentine hardtail. Were I to get one, I'd add a coil tap for the neck humbucker...... Love that it's swamp ash.....
Great performance!
hey pete, two blue ladies- on every knee one! ROCKN ROLLY!
That classic riffing at around 22:00 sounds quite Hetfield (blackened etc etc).
Music man, so fine guitars. Look at the necks.
Young George Lucas and L. DiCaprio are great guitar players
The valentine is incredibly versatile
I'd like both of those guitars!
shout out to Winnipeg!!!!
just ordered music man Valentine in buttertrans milk!!! can't wait to play it!!
I’d like to get the sterling st Vincent version .
Can you split that humbucker and still use the boost?
Glad to see Ariel back to doing vids.
Love your reviews !
Those guitars sound great. Those stunted headstocks, though. They remind me of my ding-a-ling when I get out of the ocean. Maybe they will grow on me. Maybe I will grow as a person.
Ugh would you guys hurry up and make an instrumental album? such beautiful music you all make. lol
Who actually purchases St Vincent signature guitars though? Just curious to know if they sell more than a few each year.
klwnguitar I dont know, but the reviews have been consistently great, it sounds awesome and I love the shape. If I had the cash, it’d be first on my list.
I'm thinking about buying one. it looks different than other guitars plus it sounds good.very versatile.
Yup I’d love one. On my list for sure
I have one, the neck is really buttery smooth, effortless bends tbh.
5th position is also my fave tone, bell tone with a touch of twang.
The St. Vincent guitar is a reproduction of what she was originally playing which was some weird catalogue guitar that you used to be able to get through sears or something. It was some weird off-brand guitar.
There's a duplicate link in the description and no link to the Valentine Sterling version.
These are great guitars! Although I wished they recessed the back and the front with magnetic closing. And the pin styled headstock instead of screws. 🎸
So when's the Anderson's Jam album coming out?
9:42 About the 5 way switch: Read the manual and mention it in the video afterwards? Better check Wikipedia before buying at Andertons…..😊
Why is Pete always kissing at the camera LOL Also was that a sly and the family stone inspired jam at the end? It was amazing!!
