- I do not encourage anyone to enter culverts, unclog anything, or enter flooded areas as it can easily become deadly without the proper training
I unclog drains for fun in my spare time (I have been trained in culvert inspections for years with private co.) and I am osha trained.
Exploring anything abandoned can be dangerous or deadly without experience. I don't encourage anyone to enter any abandoned structures. Not only is safety a concern, but often times its illegal, and when possible I seek out permission from the owner or local police. I simply go to document its history before it's gone forever and I leave things the way I find them. I only take pictures and only leave footprints. I assume all the risks and responsibility before doing this. Please don't attempt to do this on your own. There could be nails, asbestos, falling concrete, soft floors, animals, or other hazards. Thanks for watching.

"as soon as i heard trickling water i had to go see what's up" confirmed, post 10 is a beaver!
In order to fight the beaver he must BE the beaver
😂
that explains a lot of things :D
@@twizzler123969 Now someone needs to make an _Animorphs_ book cover of post10 transforming into a beaver.
he'd probably get a kick outta that xD
1.5 hour of post 10! Love this! 😎😁
You were right the first time; a _red_ aspect on a railroad block signal means that that signaling block is occupied by a train. The green signal is a distance signal, telling the operator that the block _after_ (or a siding) is clear.
If those big pumps on the boilers operate as you say, then they are called _fuel atomizers._
Beautiful video. That walk, felt like we were walking with you, feeling the wind in our faces and hair, on such a sunny day. Wishing you both happy trails on your continued adventures in northern Ontario! 😊
Ontario is my home province I love your vids exploring the really remote parts of Ontario! Awesome vid as always! 🇨🇦🇺🇸😁👍🏻
Your innocent narrative and enthusiasm is very pleasant and appealing....❤ Thank you 👍😊
Thank you
No way, Burwash, and camp bison or camp B...My dad's whole side of the family grew up there, my grandfather was the engineer who ran the power plant and the stem plant, he still lived there up until 78 4 years after it was shut down...Your looking at camp B, A camp ended before the tracks. There every summer...To bad all the city garbage comes up and vandalize everything and leaves garbage where they camp.
I was born and raised in Northern Ontario. You're exploring places I didn't even know existed! A big thank you!
Same here.
17:45 Here is why you're seeing lots of rock in that area. Two reasons.
1. You are on an ancient geological formation called the Canadian Shield. Very old rock.
2. The mining industry in Sudbury literally killed vegetation all around back in the early days.
Thank you for the tour. I really like your abandoned series. From Ireland. I checked google maps and saw the rail curve where you crossed. And that sure was a nice hike. As for your loading of the rear of the trailer, centered weight is ideal, less chance of fishtailing. Stay safe. Thanks again.
Is that your wife? Dont see you with others while out. Its nice i worry about something happening and you being alone
@donnaosborne2462 the Postess keeping our guy safe😊
She is his boss hahaaa… She’s fab ❤
It's probably his fiancé.
@@MuddyPiggIt is
That's his fiancé
As a fellow New Englander, your knowledge is so appreciated! Love ya. Keep doing what you do so well!
Online it says Avalon Eco resort owns the old prison and the burwash trail in. It says a small fee and a signed waiver is required to hike it. Prison was closed due to the high cost of maintaining it and things/people were all brought in by train.
Be a great hike if they improved the trails in.
If that's true, they need to put up signs. Google says it's open to the public twenty four hours
168ish cars...as a kid I always counted train cars; not sure why a kid does that but now at 75 I'm still counting train cars if I'm stopped by a train or see one while driving. With most of it double and a few triple stacked that's a lot of cargo. Thanks for taking us along on your walkabout.
Ohh I definitely must have miscounted.. I got 201 😂😂
@@cosmicpinecone9047 LOL When he turned the camera I panicked...had to replay and look at the cars, figure out if he'd skipped any. Such consternation...might have to watch that footage again!
I never realized it until now, I still start counting cars when I see a train.
I’ve never seen so many butterflies… so cool 👍🏻 I’m loving this walk… until we get to the prison!
I think it was 157 flatcars on that train. And like 6-7 were empty. That is amazingly long!
I"m no railfan or expert but I think those empty cars are for balancing the load on long trains. WIthout them you can get turbulent wobble and jump off the tracks.
Those are called _well cars._
Careful loading the back end of the trailer too heavily, most of the weight should be ahead of the axle.
I was going to say the same thing. The further forward the weight is, the more stable the trailer is behind the vehicle towing it.
👍Yes. You should keep +50% load weight on the tow ball/hitch. Rides better, and decreases the chance of the trailer breaking free.
The big circle thing looked like a sewage treatment facility.
You're right, I think it's a clarifier.
@@jonlouis4263 It is, It was actually put in by General Electric, My grandfather was the engineer for the power plant and some of the now gone town.
I love that you both are out there. Safer with the two of you! Post and Postess! 🥰🥰 Do more adventures together 🤩🤩
great video, really interesting to see how big the building was. You guys really know how to do trains, they are massive
Haven’t seen a thorough abandoned video in a while.
Thank you Post!
I very much enjoyed this video. The hike, the various creatures, the tour through the old prison! Thank you very much and you wife for a very nice trip.😊👍
I love post10 videos!!!
I can't wait for your new winter long camping video of this year 🔥😍
Today's video was a bit spooky. Abandoned buildings give me the creeps.
I went to Quebec province in the late 70’s and remember seeing trees used for electric lines. Many crooked and many still had bark on them. You could look down the power lines and all of the poles were out of line or out of square, zig zag zig zag . It was very quaint and endearing 🇺🇸
Thanks for taking us with you. It was a very interesting experience. Can't wait for the next one.
checking each other for ticks is the fun part
Thousands of flutterbyes and then it only gets better!! So glad I came back for the long version. I learned to count while sitting on a fence behind the house and watching trains go by. When I visited my Grandmamma in the next town, my uncle would flag the train down and give the conductor a quarter for me to ride! 🥰 Thanks so much!
Thanks for all your tireless work to trudge out there and film this!
The shell casing looked like it was used to smoke pot.
I truly enjoyed this video Post. Thanks for letting us tag along with y'all.👍💜
Those boilers were oil fired, most of them anyway. Others were wood or/and coal fired as back up. Asbestos was present there, no doubt. If left undisturbed, it is not much of a hazard.
It looks like they were all coal fired originally. That's why they have the big firebox store i'm imagining. Then converted
It is a hazard because it's all over the floor and you're kicking it up
Great video Post. Thankyou
Glad to hear you have some kind of protection with you, there's nuts everywhere you go.
Thanks Post! 👊🏻👍🏻 Appreciate you my friend 🙏🏻 Stay safe and take care 🙏🏻 God Bless
Mack from Midwest Magic Cleaning sent me over. Thanks for the tour!
As remote as this place is I'm surprised there isn't a cemetery.
There has to be. They usually had tiny markers. Sometimes just a number, probably overgrown and no longer visible.
@guitarcheology This wasn't a long term place. Prisoners had a maximum sentence of two years for minor things. They had a choice to come here for a reduced sentence to do something for society. Turn a trade work on the farm. Another comment says they think the room with the small Firebox is a crematory. So it looks like maybe they were burning the bodies
Yes there is a small cemetery, right next to Cemetery Lake.
That trail is so gorgeous! I would love to walk it!
It's good to know your Honey adventures with you ❤ I loved watching and hearing that long train towards the end. That revolving/spinning thing in the pit looked like it might be a macerator for sewage? I always learn things from watching your videos. 👍 I started googling 'stacked glass' and the suggestion that popped up was 'stacked glass windows for prison". I love the things I discover from your channel.
Nice find, beautiful land up there, that place was huge.. thanks for taking us along!👍
Awesome video. Really nice to see your lady again too. Really can’t wait for more camping videos.
Thanks for sharing the adventure, a nice peaceful hike.
I know you don’t want to compromise your identity Mr Post, which Is cool. Can you show us what you carry in your trailer.
Thank you post 10, for another great video.
How beautiful this area would look like in winter with deep snow and strong frost.
Thank you both! ⛓
One of your best, Post 10. Thank you., Beautiful colors .............
Really interesting spot to explore! Thank you for showing it to us.
I enjoyed that. I wonder if that building in the island of trees was for equipment storage or private living space for maybe a farm manager. I think I heard you say the inmates farmed the land around the prison?
Yes, this was for minor offenders that we're only there for maximum of two years. They would choose to work on the farm and learn a trade that could be useful later in life for reduced sentences. So there was very little chance of them running away
Thanks for the tour. Love 1.5 hours!😊
Soooo many little butterflies! ❤
I'm so glad you took me on your adventure! The beautiful land, butterflies. The prison was so interesting. Good to see your girlfriend too. At least I didn't have to get bit by the flies 😂
That's a one crazy long train
Quick Google search comes up with it was a minimal security prison and was SPRAWLING compared to whats left. They built a whole town for the support staff and their families, said over 1,000 people lived there. Thats probably where the power poles end. Had a sawmill too! Some Avalon group owns it now, for a fee you can tour it and they plan on developing it into a hiking area off the highway
And I don't know but those "solitary" cells looked more like an infirmary situation. Dr/nurse can go into the first part of the cell without the inmate having access to them.
The building is currently for sale $399.000 ca 237 acres
Bring a bottle of vinegar with you every time you get attacked by Flys spray the vinegar on yourself, the Flys won't bother you
Good trip Post. Thx! ❣️🍀
Great vid seeing what it was like inside before such decay would be amazing. I guess the small trees on the flat roof are from nature and the formation of the little trees is so natural : )
If im not mistaken...they used this prison on that show Dude your screwed!! Awesome!!
this is so cool i always wanted to find an abandoned prison
Woo Hoo 🙂 Another extended post post 😁
Love all this video... and seeing that train going by. WOW! 👍
Enjoy the still shots at the end.
This sort of place is responsible for the inspiration for many a setting for a post-apocalyptic video game
Working right now.
But when I get home I cant wait to watch this!
Thsnk you Post ~ Have a great day!
I really have issue with people who do the graffiti in buildings. They have no respect for the past lives that were incarcerated there. The paintings are great in the right places.
.
Not sure if someone else has said, but those “weird ducks” you heard on your hike in were Sandhill Cranes. They’re migratory but we have them year round in Florida. They are very loud! I have been woken up by them flying over my house in the middle of the night before.
I love everything about this.
Thank you.
It reminds me of Shawshank Prison from the Shawshank Redemption
Welcome to Canada Post10.
Fascinating exploration. That building won't outlive you. Good documentation as it is now. Soon them metal stairs will be rust dust.
The butterflies are funny, and nice job bringing that water down. heh, even a surprise iron interloper at the end. 🙂
That storm last December washed out a lot of logging roads in my area in western maine. They probably wont be fixed until they are ready to log the area again.
Beautiful area. Thanks for bringing us along.
The red signals on the train line are a control point at the end of a siding. They will stay red unless a train is lined through them.
I love watching all these videos I am from England
Thanks for another very nice and interesting video. Could have given some background info about the prison's history but that's only a minor point of critique.
Thank you, post 10 for another great adventure that was unbelievable. 🇺🇸👮🏻♂️
That looks like some type if sewage treatment plant, with the spinny thing.
Great video, thank you.
Must of been a fun location in winter.
13:50 Geography lesson: Everything north of North Bay is Northern Ontario.
You should get a bee keeper's hat 😅
Missed this kind of video we need some camping again
I wish i could go to some of these abandoned and sometimes dilapidated buildings.
Did you know that butterflies can sense when other creatures are nonthreatening? That says something about you as a person Post 10.❤❤
That was an awesome adventure you two 🦋
I get why your lady wouldn't want to be on cam, but not even a peep outta her the whole time!?
Posty out here living a peaceful existence.
We see her in the camping videos. Btw love those cant wait until winter for more to come out.
The expended rifle shell cases with the plastic are Simunition rounds that when fired shoot a plastic protectile filled with a marking paint similar to a paintball. Law enforcement, and the military commonly use abandoned structures to train in.
30:25 🤣 No words need be said
International symbol for peace ✌.
I think about 10 degrees cooler and that would've been paradise for me!
Awesome you were here!! Burwash is awesome! Next time you are up in Norther Ontario in the Sudbury area you should check out the old cold war era radar base (if it is still there).
I seen on Girl in the Woods, affix fly paper to the top of her hat when shes doing any hiking and the deer flies land on her head are stuck to the fly paper
I like that idea! At home, just for yard work I use a hat with mosquito netting for annoying little insects. I can't imagine the pain and aggravation of deer flies yikes!
It has been used for military or police training in the past
Those birds you saw flying were cranes, I think.
You always find the most interesting and unusual places to explore! Thanks for sharing.
Should've brought your rake, for the flooded rd.
Love to hike with both of you. Thanx again for taking me into the American wildernis.

Interesting video post .
At 42:03 is a sewage treatment facility.
Mack sent me! Fascinating vids!!
