    Mine has activated twice. Once with tweezers next to it in my edc tray, and once with my keys. It got pretty hot in the pocket, but now I'm just more cognizant of what's near it. No big deal.

    I've been carrying mine in tactical mode and even with keys in the same pocket, I have never had an issue. Have 3 WMs and love them. Great video. I never understood why this wasn't what Olight just told.people to do. Even over lock out. I'd never carry a tactical flashlight locked out.

    Thanks for an excellent video. I learned something. Honestly, solution #1 is just to use the pocket clip. This positions the light with the lens crowning just above your pocket. If it did get turned on, the light would shine up on you and you'd easily see it.

    Just got mine after this latest sale and it came with a rubber end cap to prevent it from making any type of metal to metal contacts. But I still use the lock feature. Any light I own that has the lock gets used.

    I'm keeping mine. After the videos, I tried, to get it to cut on while unlocked, by touching my knife blade to the button and the prongs. It never cut on.
    I've got 2, the whole reason I got them was for the momentary on/off strobe, the mid press turbo was a bonus.

  • @wyomingcountryboy

    Related to the March 2022 recall:
    Most people who own these lights don't need this recall. We don't have a real reason to send them in unless we just want the upgraded Mini 2 or a store credit/refund. I own 4 of these and there's never been any issue. With power comes responsibility. Hell yea they'll get hot on Turbo, when that heat can't escape, but so does every light of this caliber that's pocket sized.
    I'm extremely satisfied with my warrior minis. EDC chest pocket, bezel up, with clip facing out every single day since they were released. Never once has one of them accidentally activated. I don't need to lock them out either, but I'm well aware of 2 different ways to do that, if wanted.
    Contrary to some reports, they do not "short" activate when metal objects come into contact with the tail cap. Of the 4 I have, I can not get any of them to activate that way. I've tried knife blades, keys, key rings, carbide scrapers, coins, pliers, multi tools, pens and even each other.....it ain't happening. Yes the tail switch is easily pressure activated and they've changed that in the Mini 2. They also added a proximity safety.
    This recall and the majority of complainers are simply a joke. First of all, quit carrying deep front pocket along with every other object under the sun and then pretend it's tactical and further pretend you could quickly deploy the light without pulling everything else out too. If you're going to carry tactical then do it right or lock the damn light!

    • @maxlvledc
      @maxlvledc  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      All 4 of mine could be turned on with metal...but I still love them. Incredible form factor.

    • @wyomingcountryboy
      @wyomingcountryboy 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@maxlvledc
      I recently added things that I can't get to activate the tailcaps on mine (without some pressure or leverage). They include fingernail clippers, paper clips, fence staples, nails and screws....I simply can't get them to magnetically or electronically activate like some are saying.

    • @wyomingcountryboy
      @wyomingcountryboy 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@maxlvledc
      I hope people who are now carrying the Mini 2 switched into Tac mode with preset of side switch (memory)
      set on med/low, or lock the light...if the bezel is deep down in a pocket. They won't be aware of an accidental start until they're actually feeling the heat.
      ANYTHING with a push button "can be" accidentally activated with the correct pressure or leverage. It doesn't matter if we're talking about an emergency shut down of an entire oil refinery, a kill switch on a snowmobile, an automatic knife, or a flashlight.
      The Mini 2 requires a noticeably deeper press to activate over the original Mini but it's still just a push.
      I'd venture a guess that keys and other small metal objects were (in a few cases) providing enough leverage to very easily push the switch (which was already sensitive and easy).
      I did finally find a way to activate the original Mini without any pressure. However, it required an electrical test meter. It would only happen if the Negative lead was on the outer ring and the Positive lead was touching the very center of the switch. Touching the + anywhere else would not activate, reversing the polarity also would not activate. The Mini 2 will also provide continuity when this test was repeated, but the light doesn't come on.

    • @maxlvledc
      @maxlvledc  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@wyomingcountryboy I carry the mini 2 every day...and I don't bother locking it out at all, since it has the sensor.

    • @wyomingcountryboy
      @wyomingcountryboy 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@maxlvledc
      I agree, the sensor is a good idea from a safety standpoint and nice when we want or need one. I can think of a few circumstances where we might not need or want one. It would be nice to temporarily deactivate if needed.
      I heard that objects on the lens (water drop, mud splash, piece of sawdust, etc.) can activate the sensor. ? I haven't personally tested that.....We might not always find it beneficial. If I needed hands free and set the light on my flatbed, I wouldn't want it dimmed just because I set it on a piece of steel that isn't gonna burn anyway. Engine block, same story.
      Some people who are repeatedly "bump starting" these lights and then relying on the proximo, might find drastically reduced battery life or a dead battery when least expected. Some of those people could unknowingly be activating their light for a full minute, multiple times per hour.

  • @Gieszkanne
    @Gieszkanne 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Mine dont go on in either mode anyhow I put the metal on! But the momentary only mode is the better one for tactical situations and Minis that have this problem wont go on permanently. So yes it is a solution. But I would never put in the same pocket with keys or pocket knife anyhow. Just because your Mini would look after a few month like you have it for 10 years! And the sideswitch is no problem at all. You realy need to press it to get it on. But even then if you are worried just put it on low or moonlight mode. You dont need a lockout and its not a solution for a flashlight that you might want to use in self defence. Here in germany they sell it for 50-60€ (60$) new never opened. And now Olight advertised the Mini 2 for june, so the price will drop even more!

    How about just not carrying your flashlight in a pocket with keys, coins or other conductive material? It has a clip - use it. If you wear jeans clip it to a back pocket and not the one you carry your wallet in. Tactical style pants usually have enough pockets to make one a dedicated flashlight holder. Dress pants? You're on your own.

    If you want to make it like the other side switch Olights, just turn the head counterclockwise 1/16 of an inch or more if desired. This locks out the tail switch but not the side switch. Rotate clockwise to restore. Now you have the best of both worlds.
    Titanium versions may not lock out.
    If what has been presented in this video along with this option don’t satisfy the owners, what would?
    I also hope that Olight will only replace the lights after the “faulty” ones are returned first by those who want a replacement of refund. An owner who feels it is too dangerous to carry the current model should not have a problem with that.

    I've seen a few videos where the reviewers had a hard time getting those rear switch units to stick to metal horizontally. Something about the three metal prongs not offering enough contact area. Something that isn't a problem with the 'non-rear-switch' units. Have you tried it? I have a Perun Mini and an S2R II Baton. They both stick like glue. Especially the tiny Perun Mini. That thing goes anywhere!! I Love them. Great video. Cheers

    • @sarge27271
      @sarge27271 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@roylerroycerickson Well, the Baton 3 has more power. It does have the charging case. All pluses. However, I have been using right angle flashlights for almost a decade. I love the form factor. You can clip it to your shirt pocket, collar, where ever you want. Very flexible. My Perun Mini is hanging around my neck morning to night. It weighs nothing. And this way, I ALWAYS have a light with me. The only drawback I have found with the Perun Mini is, because the clip is so well designed, (Nearly impossible to pull it off) it is essentially useless on a baseball cap. You can't switch the clip around, so you can't adjust the light for a proper forward beam. BUT, for that purpose, the light comes with one of the best headband system. The plate you clip your Perun mini to, is velcro backed. It either sticks to the supplied headband, or it will stick to a velcro patch field on a baseball cap. Having both form factors, (Perun Mini and S2RII) I have to give it to the Perun Mini. They Nailed it!!
      Here's a video I made about it, It might give you more info. Cheers
