    One thing really important to add to your review would be a price comparaison

    • @UrbanSurvivor
      @UrbanSurvivor  2 ปีที่แล้ว +62

      I added prices to the description along with a few different buying options. Unfortunately including the price violates some retailers policies because if there's a difference between what they are listing and what I show, it is considered false advertising, even if it's only off by a few cents.

    The Thrunite V4 half lumen mode is something most other lights need to look into. Don't get me wrong, brighter is better. But having the longest run time for weeks on end, night time reading in a grid down situation by yourself is a real sanity saver. Even having that kind of longevity for weeks on end, having even minimal visibility, say, in the middle of the ocean at night with no starlight or being lost in a cave is one of the best mental assurances anyone can have. If you can't even see your own hand two feet away, it's a scary thing.

    • @UrbanSurvivor
      @UrbanSurvivor  2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Agreed! Ultralow moonlight modes are definitely a strong point of consideration for most of the lights I buy. A few other brands like ArmyTek, zebralight and even Olight is better than most. The new wizard c2 pro from armytek has 6 months of runtime on its lowest output!

    • @LDR1100RS
      @LDR1100RS 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I agree. I could live without a moonlight mode on a duty light, but my general purpose/emergency light has to have a 1 or .5 lumen mode and must tailstand.

    • @XperiencePureness
      @XperiencePureness 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Based on tests conducted by Zeroiar, the Wurkkos FC12 only produces 0.2 lumens in moonlight mode and in medium mode the FC12 is also able to last a few minutes longer but Thrunite's light output is more stable than Wurkkos.
      On the other hand Wurkkos FC12 produces a much higher candela (33300cd) and a longer throw (365m) which makes it more effective in self-defense situation.

      If you want the best brighest edc light get the thrunight I've best the shit out of that light and it still works like new. If you want the best bang for your buck get the wurrkos or sofrin I have both of those as well and the are fantastic lights. Wowtac which is thrunights budget brand has the absolute best band for buck. The wowtac A6 has 1460lm in a rechargeable edc light for 20$ from Amazon. It's a stupid good deal and it's been 100% reliable through hundreds of hours of use. If you want the fanciest light and a bunch of color options you want a olight. Imo their way overpriced but they are good lights. My lights get used hard and I don't worry one bit about scratchs,Knicks,chips,and the coating wearing off so paying extra for a shiny colorful fancy light isn't my thing. I do own a few olights and their good just overpriced

My husband's birthday is coming and he works nights on dark parking lots with lots of corners, dark spaces, dumpsters and seedy people in seedy areas....some seedy people behind said dumpsters. Which ever flashlight will blind the crap out of a person approaching is the one I'm going to get him.

    Good review. I collected some of these lights and EDC a couple. The BSS v4 is best used with the super long teeth removed. The TID Self-Defense teeth impact light output. Its a much better wide beam flood WITHOUT them. The TID teeth block a lot of the light and leave it in shadow.

    Wurkkos FC12 is probably has the best price to performance ratio of all the flashlights in this video because based on the test results of various reviewers Wurkkos FC12 is able to produce more than 30 thousand candelas with the included battery and it also has a moon mode which only emits 0.2 lumens of light.

      Hey , you seem to really your flashlights. I'm looking for the most powerful EDC flashlight under ~$50, is the FC12 the one you would recommend? I just can't find a definitive answer

    • @XperiencePureness
      @XperiencePureness ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dogmeat2418 I haven't tried all the flashlights from the well known brands so I can't say which one is the most powerful in the $50 range but I personally use the Convoy S21B CULPM with Wurkkos 20350 short tube and Sofirn SP35 pocket clip which makes the flashlight only 88mm long and 27.2mm in diameter.
      According to 1 Lumen the Convoy S21B CULPM has a maximum output of more than 57K candela and is able to put out more than 29K candela on high mode (35%) for over 2 hours with a 4000mAh battery.
      Apart from the Osram CULPM1 you can also choose the SFT40 if you want a higher lumen but the candela will be slightly lower but the S21B CULPM1 is only slightly clearer when looking at something more than 250 meters away than my S21A SFT40.
      If you still don't have another flashlight, the Wurkkos FC11 + Convoy S21B/S3/S2+ can be a great combo as an EDC.
      The Convoy S3 and S2+ are shorter and slimmer than the S21B.

    Good info. Loved the overview. IMO, on the "Moon" mode, if the output isn't at least 4 lumen, it isn't very useful for much more than reading a comic book under the blanket after mom has told you it's time to go to sleep. 7-10 is probably best for a camp flashlight sort of usage. For me, I would lean towards the Klarus for overall use and maybe the Acebeam as a better area light.

    Nice comparison. I like your talk and details on the beam profile with medium modes. I pretty rarely use turbo and high, they both step down in most lights anyway. I don't need it that bright for walking or common tasks so I tend to use anything between 1-200 lumen for most things I do. One thing to note with the Olight metal magnetic switch is if you are in a garage or shop working on anything metal it can get filings and dirt in the switch which is not great. I like any of the rubber switch options. Lots of great flashlights there I can't really choose a winner!

    Hello, I have a question. I'm now getting to know all the different flashlight options, I didn't imagine there were so many brands, I preferred to buy a North American brand, but when I saw that both Streamlight and Surefire make flashlights that don't seem to innovate as much and aren't extremely modest in terms of lumens and candelas I'm interested in Chinese brands.
    Like everyone else, I like to buy products that last a long time, in your experience which brands last the longest without showing defects? Which flashlights from which brands have you used for years and have not failed.

      @UrbanSurvivor  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you have other Olights, then yeah I think it would be a good direction to go for an SBR! My main issue with Olight is the custom battery type and their weird charging setup but if you have other batteries and chargers its fine. Im running a Baldr Pro R (light with green laser) on my Glock 17 and am still undecided between the Acebeam and klarus to be mounted on my rifle lol

    No Stream Lights? 18650 or 2 CR123a's. Stream Light's Pro tac 2L-X is my Fave edc (500 lumens). Ive read a lot about Olight being over advertised and true quality isnt all there. But havnt tested yet. At one point. I jumped ship from Stream Light to Nitecore. Shortly later. Got rid of 90% of my Nitecore's and jumped heavily back into Stream light starting with 2 Protac 5L-X (3,500 lumens). Fantastic for a Security Guard on Night Duty.

    You chose the wrong Sofirn Flashlight. You should have chosen the Sofirn Sp35. It uses a 21700 battery and produces 2000 lumens so it has a longer runtime. It throws over 300 meters. But it doesn't have a small hotspot like the Wurkkos FC12 does. It actually has a great spill making it much better all around flashlight and yet still throws far.Farther than the FC12. And you can use a 18650 battery in it with an adapter sleeve,or just use some thin foam to keep the bettery from rattling. The Sp31v2 is only 1200 lumens with the LH351 5000k. It's rated 100 meters less than the SP35 in throw. And at least you should have used the Sofirn SC31 Pro under $40 with ,if you want to strictly limit this comparison to 18650 flashlights. It also has 2000 lumens but only is rated at 200 meters in throw. But it has a much more floodier beam pattern. If you're trying to see something over 225 meters away,why would you want such a small hotspot like the Wurkkos or Thrunite? The Acebeam has both going on because it floods and throws far. But cmon,it's over $100 bucks! The Sofirn SP35 is under $40 and I bet it's only slightly bigger in diameter. I bet you wouldn't notice it in your pocket. But with the prices of the 21700 batteries coming down,as cheap or cheaper than the high output 18650's,and they have 1000 mahs more than the 18650's, what's the point? 18650 flashlights are becoming obsolete. 21700 is better,and can supply more lumens. Then you can run in the high mode instead of turbo so the head doesn't get unusable from the heat.

    Looks like you may have had that FC12 on Eco instead of moonlight in that part of the test. There's no way 1 lumen would be that bright compared to the other supposedly lower moonlight modes (e.g., the PD35's 5 lumens).

    • @johng6387
      @johng6387 ปีที่แล้ว

      consider camera exposure. he likely had to adjust the exposure manually to prevent the camera from overexposing the darker modes so in order to make sure the .5 lumen mode wasnt invisible the exposure was probable calibrated to that light so anything brighter would seem much much brighter with the same settings. the camera doesnt seem to be adjusting automatically to the changing light levels so id suspect this is why. a wider beam angle illuminating more white paper causing it to look super bright from flashback with a high exposure setting on the camera. its really really hard to showcase a lighty source with a camera but i think he did a great job keeping the assessment fair by locking the exposure and iso during his eval walks and book reading demo

    Also, just my opinion, but the Klarus with the dual tail switch design is the only tactical light here, instant access to On and strobe is essential. Side switches imo are not ideal for tac use.

      Depends on a lot of different factors like how often you use them ( typically they are only good for a few hundred cycles) and the length of time they are stored ( 3-5 years would be max reliable life)
