You tell those haterz! 👌🏼 Those of us with a brain know you two do it all yourselves!!
I love you Joel!!❤️❤️❤️
I enjoy watching.
Makes me feel that I can do it
Joel, it’s a nice surprise to see you here…..looking for ideas for you place? It’s very interesting what they are doing and how they do it.
It hurts my heart to see people tearing vintage cabinets out and throwing out vintage appliances that were built to last forever. Watching you two restore them is so joyful and inspiring! 🥰💕💚
I agree. I am glad my 111 year old house has the original cabinets; I wish it had an older stove. I might have to look for a vintage one. I will have to strip acrylic paint off my cabinets, and see what is under it.
@@VisionaryGardener not a fan of color though
I totally agree with you about saving as much as possible. The craftmanship (and character) is not the same today as it was when the older homes were built. There is such great beauty in the older homes.
Boy, you guys hit the nail on the head! I quit watching programs for the very reason that they smash the old cabinets and woodwork to smithereens! If you really need to replace them, at least donate them somewhere where they could be reused. I've been a fan of "Jadeite" green for many years. Green (of any kind) is my most favorite color. I keep wondering how long before shiplap wood, sliding barn doors and white cabinets are going to "definitely be OUT DATED (I've come to hate that word). I don't want my home to look like everyone else's! 23 years ago when we had our house built, my granddaughter invited her friend over to our home. The girl sat in the kitchen looking around. She then asked "This is a new house right?" I replied "Yes". She then said "Well, how come it looks old?" I then knew I succeeded in my home decorating! I love the look of old kitchens!! They never lose their charm!
You guys are GREAT!!! You clearly do it yourselves. I'm a remodel contractor and we call those who don't know what they're doing DYI'ers.....Doing Yourself IN!!!
🤣🤣🤣🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
That kitchen is DARLING, and you’re so right…there is something so special with the history of the place.
My monitor makes the green bright
@@cherylallan6733 it is bright!
Your explanation for who does the electrical, plumbing, roof, is understandable….who wouldn’t contract that out? The laws state it must be done by licensed contractors anyway…you are doing a terrific job doing what you do….that’s why I watch you…you are soooo authentic….keep up the great work?
I know of at least a couple houses in my neighborhood that blew up because someone thought they could do the electrical or gas line work themselves. There is such a thing as penny wise and pound foolish.
I love the slow pace updates and real time renovation that you are doing. Don't let the haters affect you. Since finding this channel, I can definitely say I am much more invested and entertained with your episodes than anything in HGTV. Keep up the good work and I look forward to watching your journey to completely renovating Melly and Janie.
Can I say that I am so in awe and so incredibly grateful that you guys aren't in this for the money, but to protect and preserve these amazing pieces of history that I love with all of my heart. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I would love to hug your necks and tell you in person.
On HGTV, the "stars" have photo ops with tools in their hands, but much of the work is done by their crews. Some may do a bit of investigation demo, samples of renovation work or small projects, but the bulk of the renovation/restoration is accomplished by crews of workmen not on camera. In this series and a few others, we're seeing each step being done by the owners, with hired labor and professionals only when the task requires. It takes time.

@@mickeymacon1281 !!! I came to say This!!! Smoke & Mirrors! Maybe Chicka who has doubt, should Volunteer Her Time so she can see for herself.... IDK How anyone could come up with that conclusion. 🌹

Dear Kevin & Laine, you did Margie proud on Janie. The love you put in each detail of her 30's kitchen, making her table cloth a valence, brilliant. I laughed when you talked about a 90 yr old man living there, my husband's 91, does most repairs and keeps the inside of our cabinets in order. I admit he's an active, great looking man for any age, I'm 67, our 2nd anniversary in Sept. I love you in Christ. Hugs from northern California.
You are a lucky lady Linda!!!!
I’m totally here for it !! I’m 20 years old, from Portugal currently in university studying Conservation and Restoration, love your work guys 😄 keep it up, watching these videos makes me keep my sanity with all the bad things going on in the world. 💕 Very inspired
Thank you so much and WELCOME Diogo!!!! Thank you for what you are doing!
I love the way you called “her” out for talking trash on y’all… I love you and the channel also I love your intent with the property and homes. Looking forward to the next 18 months to finish Melly….💕
It is amazing how ONE negative comment can affect us so thoroughly. While there are soooooo many people thrilled with the work you are doing. (Myself included) Good on ya for calling her out. She needs to take Mama's words to heart "if you can't say anything nice, don't say nothin' at all".
It really pissed me off. Clearly a person who thinks they know more lol
Reinvigorate, revitalize and restore - needs to be everyone's mission and on a t-shirt!
Love you guys passion and vitality that produces such stupendous results.
Melly has a lot of orbs flying around
@@tinabreon794 lots of dust in the south esp in old homes
@@mickeymacon1281 And even in brand new ones. 😂
You all do a fantastic job restoring these places. The kitchen looks wonderful. Love the green ( almost same as I painted my front porch ceiling ). I share your philosophy on restoring the old rather than replace. And I would 100 times rather watch your channel than HGTV because you all are the REAL DEAL! Kudos for a job well done!
I love how you guys restore theses houses. I wish more people did this.
For most of modern history, women worked, lived, and dreamed in their kitchens. Of all the rooms in Janie, the kitchen is where I would expect you to feel Marjorie Mae's presence the most. I adore your restoration of her kitchen.
Love the color! When I grew up in an old house, our kitchen was green! Loved the built in’s. Your kitchen is perfect. Love the subway tiles.. thanks for your explanation, your description, your work.. love watching you both.. blessing from Northern California.
I just love you guys and your philosophy for the homes! Snow White and Val Kilmer!! I can imagine how satisfying it is to clean out a space before you actually start the work on it.
I’m so glad you did the kitchen originally, I’m so tired of all the beautiful craftsman homes being bought up and having them turned into open floor plans with everything grey and white. Besides the new trend is the new millennium style and the color palette is green and blue so you made this perfect.
I inherited my grandmothers 1936 english tutor home and the kitchen looks much like yours and I have found so much insperation from the 2 of you. You did a beautiful job on this kitchen and the color is perfect, you have given me so many ideas. I love, love, love watching your videos and following the progress on whatever project you are working on. Have a great day
I hope you’re having fun with your house! 🙏 good for you for wanting to restore and honor the house’s history, instead of gutting it and turning it into a grey and soulless HGTV clone!
I love this kitchen. And the use of the tablecloth for curtains was perfect. That cluster rose pattern fits perfectly. I saw that some of the dishes had a similar pattern. One thing that would go great is one of the slim baking cabinets, similar to a Hoosier, with ribbed glass upper doors. It might fit next to the refrigerator. You could convert it into a coffee bar.
That’s exactly what I was thinking! That wall is calling for a Hoosier cabinet! I’ve seen them for as little as “FREE” needing some work of course, to pristine condition!
Came for the restoration, staying for Laine’s savage clap backs 😂 Love the both of you! 💕 Can’t wait to see more!!!
I can’t express enough how much I appreciate y’all filming this to share with us. I can’t imagine how much extra work it is! So thank you so much for sharing the process ! ❤️
Totally agree ❣️absolutely lovely couple with great values
Yours is one of the few channels that I find it PAYS me to watch! The oil based floor paint tip is GOLD! Thank you!
Thank you!!!!
@@OurRestorationNation my favorite quote was about the windows: "We don't paint 'em like a moron!" LOL!
Laine, I almost cried when you talk of ironing the tablecloth on the same ironing board Marjorie Mar used.. The tablecloth to curtains added just the right pop of color. Heartfelt thanks for ALLLLL the work you both put into restoring these lovely ladies...Large and Small!
I have rescued SO MANY doors, windows, cabinets, and furniture from the dump so I could restore or upcycle. I love using the old materials, and finding ways to show off how beautiful they are! Good for you in recognizing how great those cabinets were..beautiful work!
Thank you! 🙏 thank you for reusing those wonderful old house pieces, that were made out of the old growth trees that once covered this country!
Dont pay any mind to the criticism of others. You are both doing exactly what needs to be done to restore/makeover the home. I can see that in no way are you discouraged by some of the less than supportive comments. Carry on for all of us out here who love and admire what you do!!!!
I love the connection you have to Marjorie. When that book comes out I’ll be in line to buy it. I think you have breathed new life into Janie, she looks fabulous. You two work so well together. We need a partner that is able to pickup the bits we ourselves lack, perfect balance. You are very generous in to the community in thinking out what happens after the project is done. Wishing you continued.
I love your candor, Laine! Love your practicality, your style, your frugality. That said, I also dislike the color. I agree with your thought, though I would have toned it down and gone a tiny bit darker (like the jade teapot and curtain color). I’m sure you did it soooo well, and standing in the space it feels really good and looks so pretty. I’m also saving what I can though my 1906 is getting a retro redo back to unfitted. Most people would say, “ That’s not for me!” I won’t let it hurt my feelings, and please don’t let others hurt yours. Your style is your own! If your husband loves it and supports your vision, you have all the approval you need.❤
For your splinter, I order mercurochrome online (because it’s too cheap they won’t make it in the US any longer) and use a tiny spot of it when I feel the heat of an infection beginning. It’s the only thing which works for me; I have a susceptibility to Mersa with infected soil (even on old wood). It works so quickly (minutes, an hour). Once or twice I’ve had to reapply.
Try it :))
What an amazing way to honour the people who’ve lived in this house, people who were once as vibrant and had all the same dreams and aspirations as those of us alive today. I hope Marjorie Mae is looking down and smiling with approval and gratitude.
Honestly. I'm a bit embarrassed to admit this. When I first found this channel I wasn't that fond of it. I found you a bit high energy for me but was intrigued and kept on as I love restoring these homes. I followed along as you started this restoration and honestly I'm in tears almost every episode since you found Janey. So enjoying this and admire your dedication.
We have a 1930 farmhouse. We are both in our 20s. We came here to watch Millie resto, but Janie has captured our heart as its character reminds us of our lovely home. Our cabinets are wood with green handles.
The two of you are such an inspiration to the viewers that appreciate old homes. My house was built in 1925, and my goal is to feel like you have step back in time upon entering. I always get a kick out of friends that ask me what does it feel like living in a museum? Keep up the work that you are doing. This is better than any series I have seen on HGTV.
You're very rare-by that I mean I watch this one channel Second Empire Strikes Back and he is redoing a Second Empire house in St Louis Missouri. He said people buy these homes here that are built in the eighteen hundreds and gut them and make them modern and he said I just don't get that. Me? Give me antique any day. I get myself in trouble though because my house was built in 1925 too and I have pulled light switches in my two bedrooms. I want antique light fixtures - the type that have glass bowls that hang down from chains from the light fixture. So I bought one and put it in. It's perfect but I can't turn on the light because I have no light switches. LOL I can turn the bulb but no longer a string to pull. Why don't I put in a light switch? I'm getting there just not in any hurry cuz I don't want to light up like a Christmas tree. Keep up the good work, and yes there are plenty of other people out here that think just like you do. I call it good taste!
That last little bit about not trashing what is already there, yes, yes, 100% yes!!! A friend was gutting a mid century beauty and hated the wood cabinets in the kitchen so I took them and repurposed them as a sewing table. After she saw them she said, “I should have kept those! They look like new!” And we also have a 1953 Westinghouse refrigerator that we saved from the actual landfill. It is ugly as sin right now, but once she gets her new paint she will be beautiful. (And she works better than my new Frigidaire BTW)
I just absolutely loved this. We've lived for years in a 1922-23 Sears Honor-Bilt Del Rey house where the layout is still original. That green color is what we have in our bathroom, matched to a remnant we found in one of the first paint layers! We have the most beautiful hinges that had been covered with layers of paint, and I learned that trick of taking the paint off like you did which worked so much better than trying to soak them in paint stripper. I love the end result and look forward to seeing the final restoration! Love your attitudes and philosophy.
I'm so happy I found your channel. My husband and I just bought a 1907 queen Anne victorian (her name is Louise). We're moving in and beginning her restoration next month, so your channel is perfect and so so helpful! Thanks!!
You two are the epitome of how a couple should work together in every aspect, each using and admiring the strengths of the other, I not only enjoy watching you bring the love and warmth of a place back to life but the way in which you do it, with faith, patience and time, all of theses things combined are what not only make a relationship work but make a house a real home.
I laughed at your comment about not doing height or under the floorboards! My husband and I have restored/remodeled our 1896 Victorian ourselves (we did hire a licensed plumber to do the downstairs bathroom, only because the city required it to tie in to the sewer system) and I told him the exact same thing! My feet stay on solid ground and where I can plainly see what is around me! We did replace the kitchen cabinets, but used what was there in the laundry room and mud room! Love watching this channel and seeing it happen in “real” time! Ours took nearly 20 years before I would call it done.
I love that sink in Little Janie! I love the stove, too! So glad that you see the value in retaining the original features of the houses you restore.
I just love the kitchen you did on Janie and love the colors you chose and that you kept that lovely old sink, and I totally agree I love the old wood cabinets I did the same in my house I sanded them down, painted them and got new handles.
That kitchen takes my breath away! I can’t pick out what I love the most. The colors, the curtains, the sink, the stove the floor! All beautiful!
YES!!! I love your videos. I'm 28 years old and love victorian, vintage, classic styles...quit using only black, white, and grey! AMEN! I love shopping at estate sales. 90% of my furniture is from estate sales. And I love remodeling! I didn't do the remodeling myself but i love making a space feel nice, expensive, but also cozy and homey
I really love the different styles of old American houses. Here in Sweden we have our own tradition which is beautiful as well but something about your houses really speak to me! Great video!
You both have your strengths, and seem to equal out. Looks beautiful.
Just found your channel but this video has converted me to you fully. Everything I own is thrifted or second hand and some of it worth thousands now! Or nothing but it still looks stylish and well out together. And better quality than the new homewares made now. And YES to people not trashing timber cabinetry! This drives me BANANAS. I see this all the time in Australia where people tear out solid, hardwood timber cabinetry from 1980s and 1990s homes and replace it with terrible quality Kraft wood cabinetry!! All they needed to do was change the doors but even then, throwing away solid jarrah timber doors for laminate?? Absolutely crazy. Even those can be faced to look modern and not get rid of the timber doors themselves. Love your resourcefulness and ethics. Can’t wait to see how this restoration goes now! Am binging them all.
I prefer "REAL TIME." Watching you both work together warms my heart. I grew up in a little beach house in San Diego. Had the exact same kitchen cabinets. Solid wood you can't replace.
I love how you try to keep the history of the home instead of ripping it out. I find furniture pieces and restore them to their original look leaving character marks whenever possible.
I love it!!! I’m 72, but please take me back to the 50’s, and even earlier. Before I was born, but my Mom and Dad got married in the 30’s and they had jadeite dishes and fiesta ware and so I grew up w/ them, too. I love jadeite….when a bathroom got out in our house, the toilet, tub and sink were lt. blue.long May that period live on and on.
Hello from Hollywood, Fla! Might I go on the record and say that I totally believe you two do do all of the work and the reason you are doing it is something that, unfortunately, people today won't understand, doing something to better your community! I love this channel and am excited to continue to watch the updates!!! Keep the great content coming!!!!! I've worked for The Home Depot for 25 + years and can appreciate all you both do!!!!
Thank you so much Judi!!
We watch YOU because we love the REAL way you do things! I love the respect you have for your projects and the integrity of your approach as you deal with these elderly homes!! And that you do it with humour instead of drama!!! The best!!
Love the sound of the insects, just feels like home in Ga. Really like that green on the cabinets, just right.
I love what you said about don't replace, restore. As todays society, is largely a throw away society. Beautiful job on decorating the house!
Guys I have no idea how I'm on house "#3" and never ran across you ,
I literally sat down to "watch paint dry" on my 1930's add on in the sleeping porch kitchen! I too just refused to let the old wood cabinets go. So enjoying seeing your endeavors I too have treasures lol. Let's keep saving these old Southern beauties one workday at a time!
Hubby and I live in a condo in California. I was remodeling it and doing a great job... until I was diagnosed with a rare nerve condition a few years ago. I had brain surgery in Feb 2021 and now starting to feel better. You guys are inspiring me to finish the small dining room and kitchen with your wonderful ideas and suggestions. Thank you. Give Melle a big kiss for me. That's my dream house! 💜
I’m so glad you’re feeling better and inspired! Wishing the best for you Wendi!!
I absolutely love your attitude towards the home and honoring those that lived there. Where my son works, across from their shop is a cabinet maker and once a week they fill the huge trash can outside with cabinet doors that they have replaced. Such a waste of so much wood and hardware. My father was a master carpenter and he had the same attitude as you. He was always using recycled wood for his projects. Your channel reminds me of him. 🥰
That kitchen reminds me of all my female relative’s kitchens, but especially of my great aunt’s kitchen!! I LOVE IT!!!! You guys are great! God bless y’all- Trip Martin.
Honey stop letting the haters ruin your amazing vibe. You two did AMAZING! It's so lovely! So sweet and cheerful! High fives and hugs!
Omg no one person can do everything. Geezzzz I just like watching the restoration being done. I love this channel. I mean not all people go to school to be the receptionist, the nurse, and the doctor. Hahahaha. Love you guys
I was a contractor, very hard work. Unfortunately cannot anymore. Kudo's to you all for getting it done yourself!! Awesome
Had to rewatch this....little Janie restored.....such a beautiful sunlit kitchen.....she's smiling so is M.Mae....🥰
You guys are better than HGTV!! I love that kitchen! Absolutely would love a kitchen like that in my house! It's light and airy and so inviting! Excellent work!
Love, love love you two. So sick of grey, white. Love the restoration and salvation of these homes. Thank you!!!
I love this little house. Love what you did here. And I love the way you save things from the past..........This house makes me smile. AMEN, AMEN, AMEN....
I think you guys do beautiful work! Mixing your blood, sweat, and tears make for such a more personal project, and you know it was done with love! Keep up the wonderful attitude, it is infectious, and makes one a lot more happier, and satisfied! Here's to a splendid couple, and home! God bless!
This kitchen restoration is absolutely stunning! It reminds me of my grandparents’ old home. I spent most of my childhood observing my grandmother cooking and entertaining in her quaint, little 1940’s kitchen. And those yellow floors are amazing.✨ Such a bright, cheerful space. Well done, you two!
100% agree. Just bought a 1947 colonial and we have spent evenings after work cleaning, sanding and priming the icky cabinets. Insides are finished in a paint I found in my mother's stash (purchased in 1998 and never opened) but outside is going to be a wild fun ombre so that my husband and I don't have to argue on who's favorite color goes in kitchen ☺️ we are even repurposing the bar into a custom counter so we can keep the bulk of the kitchen footprint untouched. Original doorknobs on all but 1 door are being cleaned and staying. Love it
True story. I once worked with a friend catering a dance workshop. I was there for 2 days working in the kitchen. On the second night, my friend and I were invited to participate in the dance. We showered, dressed up, put on makeup and fixed our hair. A lady that had volunteered in the kitchen with us for a few hours came up to me to introduce herself. She totally did not recognize me. I guess we clean up well! lol Great job in the kitchen. I'm not usually a fan of that color of green, but it just looks right in that kitchen, especially with the curtain that you made. Thanks for bringing us along for the ride.
This turned out so beautiful and I hope it encourages others to re-use what they have as well as preserve the character in old houses like this!
Hear hear you both are spot on!! Love History! I think I told you on another post, my son and daughter-in-law have a piece of history themselves it’s an old farmhouse the barn is still there the milkhouse is still there. There’s three cemetery plots from previous owners from the late 1800 but this house was a part of the underground railroad and it’s just amazing ! Foundation, support are the trees still have the bark on them and The knots !! They are teaching their family how to live off the land. They have honey bees 🐝, fruit trees chickens raised garden beds so I’m very proud of them!
I love this kitchen! My home is about 100 years old. I plan to preserve the character and charm of what I have. If I wanted everything to look new and modern, I would buy another house. Keep up the good work!
Just discovered your show a few days ago. I really enjoy watching you two work together. I love the idea of restoring instead of stripping everything out and putting in all modern. It takes away the charm. I often think why do that? Just buy a modern house to start with and redo it if you want modern. Love y’all’s motto of preserving. Look forward to watching the rest of the restoration! Thanks for sharing your passion.
You two are an amazing couple doing amazing work on preserving history in addition to having full time jobs. Plus you tour historical homes and bring us along. I have learned so much from you both and so enjoy each and every show. You got to wonder what kind of person could say anything negative about how you execute any of the work at any of the homes you restore. I don’t blame you for not touching wiring or plumbing, but I don’t think I would do the roof either. Keep up the amazing work and disregard the negative. Many blessings to you both!!
Janie's kitchen is just adorable. I would not change a thing! Love, Love, Love! Kudos to you for doing it right.
Love your philosophy regarding re-using materials and using one's creativity instead of throwing stuff out! I can visualize much and I've realized many don't, which is TOO bad! It's pretty obvious you both do your own work. There would have to be some unseen force for me to EVER want to use plastic siding! Thanks for finding the right homes for all the historical stuff!
I love the colours that you chose for the kitchen. I used exactly the same reference photos for my kitchen and went with levis blue, red and black and white subway tile. We did the floor on our hands and knees in a harlequin pattern in black and white. It took ages. The green that you chose is sensational and it's so cheerful and historically accurate. We have almost twin kitchens! I love the feel when you walk in. You can imagine all of the people who lived there before and how much they would have approved. I wish that youtube had an applause button! Your kitchen is oustanding.
Love the beautiful jadite color. Everything y'all did on this gorgeous kitchen is outstanding.
I LOVE Janie’s kitchen. It’s so cheerful! The colours are perfect and I love the “trendy” subway tiles. Once you get a vintage fridge, you can do a second reveal! 😉
OMG, your comment about not throwing perfectly good materials away ( that end up in landfills) hit the bullseye! I think that all of the time, when I see these different remodel shows, or know people who totally redo their kitchens, and throw perfectly good material out, just to change up a style. Drives me CRAZY! Thanks for stating this.
I don’t care if you don’t do plumbing or electrical work, I just enjoy watching the houses come together. I love old houses.
Green is not for everyone. That said, you two do great work and I’m so pleased to know the „why „ of what you do. I’m keeping as much of my 80s green cabinets as I can bc they’re there- plywood and pressboard though they be. The ones which cannot be salvaged will go. but their solid wood doors used in my craft space. Could not toss OG WOOD cabinets (trim, doors, windows, floors, etc)!
Best kitchen so far !!
Keep up the noble work.
“the landfill is full” EXACTLY! I worked for a summer turning student apartments, in a single day I’d throw out 4 couches because the had a small tear in the pleather. I’d replace entire cabinets because the TRIM was worn, THE TRIM!!!. Thanks for doing your part to keep our planet from becoming one giant dump!
Great job on repurposing a tablecloth into curtains! I do the same in my house with table runners 😊
I’m where you were re the kitchen cabinets in my 1918 house. Cleaning and painting with color! And yes the hinges were painted 18 coats of paint, but it’s fixable. The cabinets go all the way to the ceiling so she’s trending in style( not that I care). Love what y’all did in the kitchen ❤
And I agree with the cabinets and appliances ...I hate to see the destruction ....
Love your work ..and your love of restoration 💕💕🙏🏾
Just discovered your channel! LOVE. IT.!!! My son would love a beautiful Victorian house, but we live in San Diego, CA, and everything in California, in general, is so expensive! I told him that if he moves out of California, when he gets college age, prices will be better. Anyway, he is very interested in learning more about Victorians, and maintaining them. I told him he could go to college for this, and he was very excited! Thanks for your wonderful videos! My stepsister is the Executive Director of the Los Angeles Conservancy. I told him we have to go for a visit soon and talk to her about all of this, as she will be a great motivator for his pursuits in this area! :-)
I love the kitchen! So glad u restored everything. Our little house is 1954 and although taken care of it was never updated, which is why I wanted it. The kitchen cabinets are adorable and it still has original ceiling light and exhaust fan for the stove. I cleaned the wood and polish it and it look great so I left them as is. Even the counter tops and flooring I think was original. The counter tops were white with a teal blue and butter yellow little star burst pattern and the floor was little bitty check pattern of teal blue and butter yellow. I did change the hardware to a 1940s,1950s style. The hardware had been changed to a 1980s look at some point. I did the kitchen in 50s colors, teal blue, butter yellow and a little splash of red. I got retro fabric and made my curtains. The bathroom was 1954 original to. All in great shape so kept it and freshen it up. 😉
I’m so here for this, telling stories, barefoot painting, save the things and humor. I love following along as you figure it out. The real deal! 💯
We bought a 1933 Victorian and the sad thing was that two owners ago totally gutted everything original except the fireplace and walls on either side. Oh, and the original heart pine floors were found under layers of yuck flooring and cans be saved! So, since we can’t afford to replace all that the interior will be more modern. But, we are using materials from a place called Second Chance, more people might recognize the Habitat for Humanity stores, but what an incredible selection at Second Chance. Anything we remove which can be used by others is donated back to Second Chance.
that house needed you guys. i bet it'd hug you if it could !
I am in the process of restoring a 1931 Bungalow that is on my farm to use as a guest house. It was actually built for my widowed grandmother and her two children. The kitchen cabinets are from around 1948 and you have definitely influenced me now on what to do and how to do the cabinets. May use the same Shanghai Jade colour that you used. Thanks for all you do and I'm one of your many fans in Alabama.
Thank you Don!!
Hahahah! LOVE the calling out of neigh sayers! I love watching your channel for how to's as well as the fact that you keep it real. The good, the bad, the ugly, and the boring as well as the excitement are all shown! HGTV doesn't show all that!
Randomly found this channel a few weeks ago, and I'm so in love with what you're doing. My biggest hearts desire would be to get a home with land like this that could be redone wonderfully and live in it forever. I'm loving all I'm gleening from you guys!!!! I'm in for the long haul!
Love the colour of the cabinets. I agree with keeping what is already there and restoring it. So much more character and beauty.
I love that jadeite! I once lived in a 1920 farmhouse with square jadeite colored tiles in the kitchen and it made me happy every time I was in there. 💚 Great job, y'all!
Thanks to you guys, I have a new appreciation for vintage items. My grandparents house is vintage, and I always walked in thinking of all the things I would change. Now I’m thinking how I could restore it if they move out one day.
There always has to be those on the internet who are "KARENS". Don't worry about them! You guys are amazing! I could never do the things you can. The house is gorgeous and I so love those old houses. We have a lot of them down south and their beauty and elegance leaves me speechless. Keep up those restorations! I think it is important to preserve the past for future generations to know where they came from. Blessings and Merry Christmas!
I Love that you are Not "HGTV" and that you show things to us in real time! It gives me the real idea if I can or CAN NOT try something myself!
I love you guys! I'm restoring my own 1880s farmhouse, floor by floor, room by room. You guys keep me motivated.
I absolutely love it!!!! I love the "retro look" in kitchens!! I love that old stove!!! I love the colors you used! Wonderful job!
Love the color of the cabinets! The last place I lived, I cleaned up and redid the 1940s kitchen, the biggest job was getting 30 layers of paint off the cupboards, and I painted them almost the same color as yours, although I had about twice as much cupboards to do, and it took the whole summer, I did it all myself, and was very pleased with the results. Really enjoy your videos
Kitchen is ADORABLE and the painted floor looks beautiful. I feel the love you put into these homes!!
