This is the best demonstration of the Garmin fishfinder I've seen. No hype, no trying to sell me something. Just you showing how it works in real life. I'm looking at the 5cv and it looks like it's worth buying. I guess I'll retire my old Lowrance x-25.
I upgraded a year ago. The Striker is amazing. Simple operation. Easy to understand. I find fish, drop a buoy. Back off a bit, cast and catch. It makes a simple fisherman like me look really good. I bought mine after watching this video. Thanks so much.
Love the no BS test. I really like my Garmin's. I have the 75SV and the 95SV chirp. I can tell the fish size and even the bait type. Sharks have a much narrower arch and turtles come up clearly. The down view is also excellent when chasing prawns.
Great video, I already pulled the trigger due to other great reviews etc, but your video is great. I am super excited for mine to arrive after seeing how clear that is I also have the portable kit coming. Stoked! Thanks Again!
thank you for the demo just got one for trolling motor ,great demo ,now i have idea what`s going on ,had down imager but wanted more up front again thanks great demo best i have seen
I just had the Gramin 7sv installed on my Jon boat. I put it in the pond behind my house just learning how to use it. I saw A LOT of those blue returns and assumed it was interference from leaves or something floating under the water. Those are fish? If they are my pond has a lot more fish than I thought. They look just like what yours showed so they are small fish? Thanks for sharing your video and taking the time to make it.
@Bob Ellison I guess that's a good question. I do have a depth/ fish finder on the front of my boat so that when I am fishing I can see the depth and what maybe be under the water, like, the cover a fish might like to hide in. This is not the same as navigation. That can be a little more tricky. A depth finder will only generally tell you the depth of water you are now in while driving your boat. Some boats will go around 70 so it is important to know the water you're in! Even IF the depth finder would show an obstacle in the water you would only have seconds to respond. So with that in mind that is why it is on the back of the boat. From the front of the boat to the back of the boat while underway is only a second of time to pass. I hope that helps.
thanks for posting this video. im going to buy my first fish finder this weekend. im just gunna buy the striker 5dv. next time you get a chance it would be awsome if you could explain more about identifying the fish and how you can estimate what they are on the sonar. . thanks agin.
I learned a lot from this video th-cam.com/video/Or5ke0T7ai8/w-d-xo.html I think the 5dv will be a good unit. Last year I couldn't catch fish in deeper water this year I'm much better at it because of chirp sonar.
What is the crimp connector on the side of the unit for the wiring diagram it comes with shows it going to negative post on battery but no cable was provided so can't see why it's needed
Have you tried the Quickmap feature? I'm wondering how it works but I haven't seen any reviews or videos of this in process other then marketing material
I saw a comment that the Garmin Striker doesn’t retain the 2d sonar settings when disconnected and then reconnected and powered on? Is that true? I have a striker plus and I take the unit off when I get back to the house and the next trip it still has my settings. Thank you in advance for your time
hi iam thinking of buying a Garmin Striker Plus 7cv fishfinder/GPS but everyone seems to be buying them for kayaks are they any good for bigger boats or to small
Nice presentation. I just bought a striker plus 7sv cv52hw transducer and I am trying to find lost fishpots at 100 to 200 feet sea water with 3/8" rope and 500ml bottle size floats all submirges. The unit does not pick up any of the objects sadly. What can you suggest I do?
This on Moraine? Looked like it judging by the launch in the background. I've been toying with the idea of getting a new unit, at least something with down scan/chirp. Been looking at some of the lowrances.
My hook 7 has issues and it's brand new bottom always falls out noise through out the water. Worked great for awhile I like the settings but doesn't have the clarity of the garmin
I just installed my 820xs but I have a large thick red line across the top that keeps me from getting a full screen can anyone tell me what to change please
Can you share with me your settings for side vu and clear vu? I can't get a good picture with side vu or clear vue. I also see your using the gt52hw transducer but mine came with the cv52hw transducer. Not sure if that's the right transducer.
same cant seem to get my image to clear up best video out put still not helping set up i understand and can see the bank and structure for the most part but cant seem to get it clear enough to differentiate between rocks /stumps ect and fish primarily catfish
Bass Chaser247 OK I just got this unit. So if I look and find the coordinates on Google Earth I want to hit on the lake will it make a way point for me even if I'm at home when I put it in?

Thanks for this, I think you are the only person who made a decent on water demo of this! Thanks
Excellent video. Will help me to understand what I'm looking at out on the water with my 7SV.
Thanks, I am just as enthused seeing what the bottom looks like as the fish~ appreciate the share -
At last a proper no bs video than k s man
I wouldn't call it an in-depth review!! but I got what I needed👍Thanks!
Great video! We fish a few of the same waters! Maybe someday I’ll see ya out there!

Great tutorial, you ever see fish i the side scan?
Thank you for this great video. I have just installed this unit on my boat also.

Does it chirp when fish are present or do you have to stare at it constantly to see them ?
I have the exact same one and struggling with the settings . What r your settings . All the way from Oz
great video, waiting for mine to arrive and can't wait to use it!!!!
Armin Gradisic Armin, kako mogu da te kontaktiram da čujem iskustva u vezi sonara? Srdačan pozdrav
Best actual footage and real time usage I've seen . I know this an older video, I'm curious is this what you still use?
Is there a flasher view for ice fishing? Did not saw it in your view option?
Appreciate the info.
thanks for posting this video. im going to buy my first fish finder this weekend. im just gunna buy the striker 5dv. next time you get a chance it would be awsome if you could explain more about identifying the fish and how you can estimate what they are on the sonar. . thanks agin.

+Bass Chaser247. ok thanks.

For glare buy a Berlypro hood shield any Berlypro dealer can get that for you .
What is the crimp connector on the side of the unit for the wiring diagram it comes with shows it going to negative post on battery but no cable was provided so can't see why it's needed
had a striker and i swear it made nicer images than my echomap
can you scroll around the screen and mark waypoints while using sidevu?
If you turn the sensitivity down you will have less noise and better accuracy!
If you unplug the unit does it lose all memory settings you made??
Having trouble bring up side emagingwhat am I doing wrong 1st time. On water withit
What settings do you use to see your drop shot as it falls under the boat?
Just bought one for my jackson big rig
i’m putting a striker 4 on the front of my boat i think they can hook together for garmin sharing
Any chance you could give me your sv settings to get me started? Just got one.
Have you tried the Quickmap feature? I'm wondering how it works but I haven't seen any reviews or videos of this in process other then marketing material

Which striker plus do you have ? :) i am gonna get 7sv or 9sv and i am hopping when i plug it out after a fishing trip it will save all my maps ?
How do u get yours to show so good. I can't bearly see my clear view
Tyang162 is your brightness turned up
Bass Chaser247
Its oh auto high. Even when it's at 100 percent I don't really see the clear view
Tyang162 I don’t know maybe there something wrong with it
There are sun visors for sale for these Garmin Strikers
How is this holding up, still working well?
hi iam thinking of buying a Garmin Striker Plus 7cv fishfinder/GPS but

get a scuba tank
Where did you mount this on the transom, dead center, jack plate ect.
Mooch On transom. Halfway between centerline and right side of the boat
Do you use the fish symbols?
is the gps poor quality ?
Very good video. What is the max. depth scan?
Mark Schuckert I don't know. The lakes I Fish are 40 to 50 feet deep.
Thank you.
about 2000 feet fresh water, 1100 feet salt water... check it out with all the details at garmin.com
How does it perform in Saltwater?
it would be awesome if you could do another one without your reflection in it , thanks for this one though, still good vid
This on Moraine? Looked like it judging by the launch in the background. I've been toying with the idea of getting a new unit, at least something with down scan/chirp. Been looking at some of the lowrances.
I like mine. I think the chirp sonar is a lot better than the old units.
My hook 7 has issues and it's brand new bottom always falls out noise through out the water. Worked great for awhile I like the settings but doesn't have the clarity of the garmin
Garmin is so much cheaper
I just installed my 820xs but I have a large thick red line across the top that keeps me from getting a full screen can anyone tell me what to change please
Good day sir any idea how to chage the day time? Thank you in advance :)
wish you had pointed out the fish more
Can this unit be connected to a tablet (iPad) via WiFi so that I can view the images from the front of the boat?
Yes
Is it sv or cv??
Can you share with me your settings for side vu and clear vu? I can't get a good picture with side vu or clear vue. I also see your using the gt52hw transducer but mine came with the cv52hw transducer. Not sure if that's the right transducer.
Cv transducer is cheaper ... the gt better in Cv
same cant seem to get my image to clear up best video out put still not helping set up i understand and can see the bank and structure for the most part but cant seem to get it clear enough to differentiate between rocks /stumps ect and fish primarily catfish
So to get a clear picture, I should buy the more expensive transducer?
@@jamiecarkhuff5327 Go into settings - try adjusting the contrast and sensitivity a little bit. Make the shadows look darker.
have you tried to put in way points by coordinates yet on this unit
Godsson5335 yes I have put in a few
Bass Chaser247 OK I just got this unit. So if I look and find the coordinates on Google Earth I want to hit on the lake will it make a way point for me even if I'm at home when I put it in?
Godsson5335 Ok i'm not sure how you do that
Will this fishfinder survive a Capsise in a kayak ?
Scotty I have no idea
I see it has a water rating, so maybe it can? And also how does sv work what part of the lake is showing on sv, it baffles me 😂
th-cam.com/video/yNucS1bniIw/w-d-xo.html
This should help. Do a search there is more videos like this
Thank you
i think this is to big for a kayak
Can u see your own fishing line?
do you still have that same unit or did you upgrade yet?
Paul Aragon I still have it works good for me.
The price of seven ins
The price of the seven ins
Do you have a part number?
Not sure what number you are looking for. Where would I find it?
How is this a tutorial? So little disclosure of what's being shown,
Catodonic where does it say tutorial?
I bought this and regret , should go with simrad and done. Garmins unit are ok, but transducer suck. Need spent more money to get the right one.
How deep can this read?
Whats the difference between gt20 and gt52hw transducers?
How deep can this see?
Now map. That sucks😘
