I would certainly buy this watch because I think it looks fantastic, is well made, has an ETA automatic caliber, GMT complication, sapphire crystal, screw-in links.......at its price point it represents phenomenal value...end off!
That homage Steinhart is portraying a 35 year old watch. Rolex isn’t making them anymore. Personally, I’m not paying $11,000 USD for a used watch…ever! I own a $1400 Seiko GMT. It’s a great watch. But this homage is a lot more sporty than dress. The Seiko is absolutely more dressy. Personally, I don’t care what others think. If you dont want me wearing an homage, buy me the real deal. Until then, its my money. And I’ll spend it accordingly.
I actually think this dial design looks just as good if not better than the Rolex that inspired it. The only thing I would change would be to make the dial markers a more exaggerated checkerboard pattern (like the Omega "Tintin") and to remove the faux patina.
Another great Video. Mini Tip for the closeups including your hands: get a professional manicure / take your time and use some special oil to prevent scraps of skin 🙈 I'm telling you this, because I got the tip myself for a Video I did within a company. Since then I've got a lot of compliments for my Hands.
I have a Steinhart Ocean One 39mm and it is brilliant! If something - anything - is practical in design and function, buying one that looks similar, fulfils the same functions, is good quality but doesn't cost stupid, snobbery-value money to buy, makes you a lot smarter than the guy who scrimps and saves to spend a small fortune on something that does exactly the same thing. You think people will admire or envy you? Hah! Filmstars wear them because they are given free by the manufacturer. Wearing a Rolex won't make you George Clooney or Jennifer Aniston.
Bro no one’s going to expect me to be wearing a Rolex and I don’t have to explain anything to anyone 😂 I just say it’s a steinhardt and they say cool. Only snobs think these are bad
The Rolex 1655 did not have an independent orange gmt hand, and were in synch. My Steinhart 1655 homage has an independent orange gmt hand and is 300m wr.
Generally speaking, i dont like homage watches when they are a exact copy and have no originality. The good homages mix their own design and the original design together. Now i will say this, there are times for me, wheres its ok. The watch u shown is like 20-50k in price which is definitely out there so id rather get the homage as for the price what u get is awesome. So like id get that but save for a yahtmaster (10k instead of the 20-50k). I guess in essence if its really out there for you get the homage copy if you will but if u can save for the actual piece get the actual piece.
The cyclops is a crucial explore ii design trait for me that’s missing here. It’s also missing on the black bay pro and without it it just doesn’t quite feel like an explorer ii
You can find this Steinhart watch with the cyclop, white indexes, in 39mm size but it's only for sale in small batches (often sold out), the shop is called Olko watches. They are official Steinhart german dealer. I have one, it's one of my favorite homage watch.
Why not? The most cost you about 3% of a Rolex 1655 with no box and no paper. Furthermore it come with a solid end link and a nice radium like dial and hands.

I'm okay with homage watches, but I try to aim for designs that aren't popular like the submariner or daytona.
Tbf, the submariner is the most copied watch ever, people don't even care anymore. The Daytona on the other hand, is a different story.
Great value for your money and not being screwed by the so called big brands

The Steinhart looks nice….

Must be so enjoyable wearing a Rolex and looking over your shoulder for watch thief’s. Stick em overpriced anyway
