I worked with the Red Cross in Sudan in the mid 80's and met a lot of Eritrean refugees in Khartoum and now migrated in Canada. I am Filipino and now living here in the US. I miss Sudan...been to Port Sudan, Kassala, Darfur where the refugee camps were.

Hi Dave I'm Rameez a Kenyan from nbo south c area and I lived in Khartoum for 10 years upto 2018 when the revolution started and things started getting bad. I sadly had to leave but Sudan is a very safe and friendly country I've ever experienced. Please do visit the souk shabi it's much much better organised and souk markazi in downtown where there is another newer mall then the afra mall u went to and its nicer. And also go to the green yard which just opposite the street from afra mall u would enjoy and try going out at night bcoz that's the time many Sudanese ppl go out coz of the less heat and Khartoum has a night life culture which u will definitely enjoy!
The popsticle thingy is called "Darduma" and I'm glad you liked it, it's like our icecream here lol. The heat? Dudde you came on the cooler days if you came in April you would have evapourated🤣 if you got sometime come to Madani Aljezira state next time, it's about three hours away from Khartoum, there's a nice museum made from the home of 1940 British comissioner called "The house of Bokasa" you can check it out and i can take you on a small tour through the most boring city on earth.

Yes, it’s because bad politicians and the ex president (who was the president for 30 whole years) were so bad they would kill people for money and get all the money to themselves and not to the country, so people had to build the country themselves but it’s really hard considering Sudan is the biggest country in Africa & they don’t get paid thay much because of the ex president. Hope the new president of my country will do something about it ! Because it’s been like that ever since my mom was born :/

I grew up in Omdurman, and I don’t recall animals in the Souq 😭 I think it’s miscommunication. The month of June is definitely the hottest in Sudan🔥 people there are wholesome which what I miss the most living overseas . Thank you for showing this side of Sudan ❤️😊 Fun fact: Omdurman used to be the capital of Sudan….. a long time ago!

I’m half Sudanese but I’ve never visited the country (or met most of the family that still lives there) but because we had some extra time this summer my dad finally decided to show me his homeland!! Hi, I cannot explain how it is a great feeling when you are just watching youtube videos randomly, and suddenly you saw a video about your home country Sudan and not just that EXACTLY Omdurman market, the place you grew up in it. I lived in suk Omdurman for about 13 years since I was 6, and unfortunately, I got to travel to study. I want to say thank you because you really brought back to me very nice memories, you actually filmed my home street, my school, and the roods I used to play in it which made me cry. THANK you a LOT Dave Mani for this video I hope you come again, and if I were there I will take you to the animal section in the market. I feel so sad you didn't see the colorful birds and the monkeys. There are other WONDERFUL places to see all over Sudan and it is my pleasure to give you information about some of them. Literally 2.5 million people died in South Sudan during the civil wars; and 300k died in Darfur. That's almost 3 million souls that died because the elite of these supposedly kind people just had to steal lands from non-Arab tribes. This kind narrative rings hollow

Thanks for sharing your visit to my country, am advising for other coming visters to arrange with any one of local volunteers to guide them bcz khartoum is so big and easly to be lost. There is amazing natural places in south kordufan and blue nile states there are many mountains , rivers, forsets and animal which will make you enjoy more and more with your visit to Sudan. Welcome with all of you from any part of planet.
