Hi Doug, the reason the bus took so long at the border is just bureaucracy. You definitely could have made your way onto the 4am bus with a little hustle and some cash in hand. But ofc ours you had no way of knowing that. And also dont worry about being negative, you were as positive as anyone could have been. Egypt to Khartoum journey is a long and hectic. I think you are very patient in your journey. In 2001 I took Greyhound bus from Sacramento, CA to Detroit, MI. Not only it a long distance journey, crossing many towns from Reno, Omaha, Salt lake city, Chigago; becoming patient and resilient let me overcome a lot of unnecessary stress and problems.
Doug, I really enjoyed watching this video. I’m so sorry for what you’ve gone through at the border. I’m from North Sudan but never been to the border. Growing up as a child and before buses came, people used to travel via train and it took even more time to get to Khartoum. The delay that you had is because Sudanese people never respect time. Anyhow, I hope next time you visit Sudan I’m there so I can invite you to stay with us in our home. If you ask someone to sleep over they won’t mind it, people are so friendly and nice.
