Hi Doug I was waiting forever for you to post your Sudan vlogs. I deeply appreciate all the hardship you faced traveling across the sudanese border to let us experience that with you. I felt sorry that you were tired and cold but Thank God kind people shared food and tea. I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your amazing travel vlogs your positive personality and enthusiasm adds so much light within our dark world and you my friend are the lamp of weary travelers illuminating even our darkest paths with the light of hope.

Doug, one of your best video's yet. Brought back soo many memories of international travel via bus. Came close to capturing those experiences. I have found that some of the most challenging travel dramas make for some of the most memorable and, at times entertaining experiences to share all these years later..bravo!

Hi Doug, the reason the bus took so long at the border is just bureaucracy.
You definitely could have made your way onto the 4am bus with a little hustle and some cash in hand.
But ofc ours you had no way of knowing that.
And also dont worry about being negative, you were as positive as anyone could have been. Ive made the same trip and funnily enough with the exact same results and I remember cussing the whole time and Im a native.
I hope downtown Khartoum was easier for you tho.
    Cheers

In 2001 I took Greyhound bus from Sacramento, CA to Detroit, MI. Not only it a long distance journey, crossing many towns from Reno, Omaha, Salt lake city, Chigago; becoming patient and resilient let me overcome a lot of unnecessary stress and problems.

Doug, I really enjoyed watching this video. I’m so sorry for what you’ve gone through at the border. I’m from North Sudan but never been to the border. Growing up as a child and before buses came, people used to travel via train and it took even more time to get to Khartoum. The delay that you had is because Sudanese people never respect time. Anyhow, I hope next time you visit Sudan I’m there so I can invite you to stay with us in our home. If you ask someone to sleep over they won’t mind it, people are so friendly and nice.

A good thing is that video is in English, to see how humble, difficult life is in the 3rd country word, moreover for the less fortunate or poor people where no one cares what happens to them they are treated badly and they are always suspected that they are criminals just for the simple fact they are poor, rich people use aircraft so they get a better treatment... life is hard, but I admire your courage and expeditionary spirits. your channel is a windows to this type of things that usually we don't see at TV. I literally just left Sudan last week, trust me I feel your pain curtain times are a test of patience but the people are amazing, will bend over backwards to make you comfortable. It is a extra challenge when you can not speak the language, luckily my wife can and her family was there so it made a lot of situations smoother otherwise I would have e been like Doug lost in translation at times, I swear I suggested that we do this but it was my wife's family that was like uhhhh I don't think that would be a good idea, at least you had AC on that bus and it wasn't packed to the brim with people

And there's a huge mess on the border between Egypt and Sudan because of the governments of both countries and the futile procedures. In khartoum you'll have a lot of fun.
