Fantastic tutorial. Can you take this to the next level? I mean take the animated flag, attach it to a flagpole with a transparent background so that the completed animated flag can then be placed in a larger setting background? Or changing backgrounds?

how can I cut the background to insert the flag as a gif in a forum (without black or white background)
anyway to make this expression loop? i have found how to loop fratal noise, but the displacemt map/ turblent offset displacement seem to be tricky. any suggestions?
I got the loop, but I didn't use Fractal to transform the position, instead I moved the position of the layer (to the right, for instance) and used Repetile to repeat the layer (to the left in this case), and increase the parameter "Blend borders" to make that seamless

Hermano esta genial el video, pero en este monitor poco se leen los detalles de lo que haces, deberías hacer zoom o detallar sobretodo los comandos.
Brother is great the video, but in this monitor little is read the details of what you do, you should zoom or detail especially the commands.

Great Tutorial!!! but why does he precomp everything? cant we apply the effects directly on the layers? and then one layer with fractal noise, the flag with the Displacement Map and thats all?

Hi, I am having difficulty with adding the Value expressions on my project which does not allow the Fractal noise to move to the right. When I add (value(0),value(1)), the system says value is not a function, what could be the reason for such? can you help?

Hey everything was cool until expression :( somehow is does't work (value(0),value(1))..
It seems the expressions you've used here don't work in the latest AE CC 2019 version. Apparently Adobe have changed how they work. Do you happen to know how the [value[0]+Time*25[value[1]] works now?
I've got other expressions to work by try upper or lower case on some of them. For example, the "time" one you use in this now works as lower case rather than upper. Bah!

Only Cinema 4D can simulate cloth waving. AF is crap for this animation.

Adobe is so arrogant when it comes to thinking about backwards compatibility - the tutorial is rendered Iess effective because since the last update Adobe removed "value" as a function of Offset.
You can bet your bottom dollar that they don't go in and refactor their source code as often as they do the software parameters. They would go out of business
We can also make that type of Animation of Flag in After Effects without any 3rd party plugin which he shown in Thumbnail as clickbait.
