I bought the 2023 Tracer 7GT last year. I use it to commute in London and also rides out with the boys at weekends. Going touring this summer. It's perfect for what I need it for. It has good fuel economy for commuting and a little bit of poke for the country lanes.
@@jvillain9946 There are other body kits for the XSR 900 but I think this factory fit one looks great. As someone who grew up surrounded by FZ600’s in Tokyo, I totally dig the retro 80’s look. It was awesome then and it’s awesome now.

I think Yamaha makes a mistake of not introducing XSR300 in Asia as hinted many years ago. Now RE, HD and Triumph have 400 retro std and scramblers (Honda has CL300 in Southeast Asia too).
Huge mistakes, I as a Vietnamese have been waiting for XSR300 and XSR700 for a long time now, but all Yamaha VN has are XSR155 (which is too weak) and XSR900 (which is too strong), nothing in the middle😅
Yamaha needs to get a 450. Ninja is moving up from 400 to 451. Aprilia is coming with RS457. CF Moto has a 450. Suzuki and Honda should follow suit. Honda's CBR500R is 50 pounds too heavy and engine doesn't rev out much. Their CBR300R is just too weak (286cc), it's the old 300 class that's being orphaned lately. Yamaha's R3 is 321cc and too heavy, and also no match for the 400-450 racing class. The BMW G310R is also weak and part of the old 300 class. KTM currently competes in the Junior Cup racing with RC390 but it'll be left behind in this step to 450.
Agree, Yamaha has a huge gap between its 300 and 700 twin. I see a 562cc twin in the Tmax maxi-scooter and its 70mm bore same diameter as in the MT03/R3 so guess they actually CAN make an XSR500/MT03 if they wish. @@exothermal.sprocket
Agreed, Yamaha has a major gap between its 300 and 700 twin. Although an 562cc twin already exists in the TMAX scooter. A 450-500cc single to compete with the India-made bikes would be a major development...

It was single screen on demo in Austin Texas last weekend unless I missed something. I actually specifically looked to see if that was changed since I wasn't interested in riding it. GT+ model.
I don’t understand how anyone can think Yamaha is ever going to launch an R9. The GP is the final nail in the coffin for that idea. If it’s a triple it wouldn’t be a real R9 and why would Yamaha risk losing R1 sales by making a 900cc inline 4? I just can’t see the logic.
Nice one Bob. Thank you. For me it has to be the XSR-900 GP. As I started my racing career back when cigarette advertising was still allowed. Plus, the no pillion rear section just enhances the overall look in my opinion.
I've ridden the Tracer9 on a Demo Day event. Although the course was a bit limited,, it was still a brilliant ride. I love a triple engine. That would be my ❤️🔥#1 choice of all featured. That said,, its obvious that Yamaha has discontinued The BIG machines from its EU/UK lineup. Likely due to the Emissions requirements. Is the Super Tenere Done or just not covered 🤔 🤌? Thanks for your consideration and reply Bob. Cheers 🍻 , G.
I just went to Yamaha demo last weekend in Austin Texas. The biggest change to me compared to previous years was hike in price and rather boring colors. I was actually so bored, I decided to test ride MT-03 and TW200. I tried pretty much everything else previous years other than FJR, Nikken and big cruiser. Currently own Super Tenere and xt250. A lot of young people showed up on Saturday so, they only allowed two rides. R7 and Tracer 9 were popular. Interestingly, SP models were missing riders but, guys running show were still limiting to try two bikes. Friday demo had no limit from what I heard. Seems like Yamaha is focused on profit margin in America and not even bringing some cheaper models like Tracer 7.
Will there ever be an MT 155cc?? And why isn't the MT 125cc available on the Australian website/market? Yamaha only offers the MT 03 on the website here!
Honda, Yamaha, and Suzuki need to get into the 450cc twin game. The Junior Cup racing needs more variety beyond the Ninja400 and a stray RC390. With CF Moto offering a 450, and Aprilia with a 457 coming, I hope Japan gets busy.
Cost maybe? Performance demands for USD forks just aren't there in the MT model. The R7 on the other hand sees a lot of braking forces on the top yoke for racing competition on track, and benefits from the inverted larger tube being on top.
In the Touring segment, I was surprised that you did NOT include the mighty FJR1300. Probably because Yamaha is really pushing the Tracer9 GT+. I'm not interested in adaptive cruise (I have it in my 2012 Toyota). Anyway, a good overview of the new Yamahas.
