  • Sunday Shred showcasing some of our favorite features at Mt Penn including Sam Malone XL, Rockover, DUI, Rock Bridge and Prelude. Most of these features are rated black and should be ridden with caution if it's your first time. This ride happened on Jan 14, 2024, details below.
    Note: Since these features are not labeled, Dan and I came up with our own names to help us navigate around the mountain.
    TRAIL DETAIL:
    Sam Malone is a big slab located near “Chuck Chutes and Ladders”. There are a few ways to get on it, but Dan and I built a rock skinny around the back, which makes it a little more interesting. At the end of the slab look for a big boulder to your right and that is the XL portion. The exit is tricky so you might want to walk it first.
    Rockover can be found on “Stone Hedge”. It looks more intimidating in person, but there is nothing to it. Just charge it with confidence and let the bike do the work. Once you clear it take that trail over to the DUI skinny if you want a good challenge. After checking out the skinny continue down Stone Hedge and you should see Rock Bridge. This feature has a tricky turn that will have you second guessing yourself. But once you get it you will be rewarded with a cool slab ride down.

    FTR (Follow The Rider) is a new series focused on mountain biking one or two specific trails. It will be different from my POV videos in that there will be no b-roll or music. The goal is to give viewers a look at a complete run from start to finish.

    As a power cyclist who usually prefers fast trails, I have to say that I am impressed every time I see you do these technical moves (almost juggling) on top of the rocks. Technically your MTB is on another level. Amazing skills guys. It's a pleasure to watch and see Dan back on track. Have a great week.

      You are much too kind Luis! Thank you so much for the encouragement. And yes, it is so good to have Dan back on the bike and killing it.

    Nice one Sage... Killing those Alt-Lines my friend... And that round "skinnie" log ride... Those things are SO MUCH harder than they look... Margine for error is so small!

    • @TrailSage
      @TrailSage  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks Phil. Yeah, that log ride has def gotten hard over the years as the rot gets worse and worse, lol.

      @@TrailSage There's a log ride in the indoor bike parl I get to on rare occasion... It's been failed so many times the first meter or so is polished to a virtual high gloss (I've also never made it past the first bike legnth or so)... There's like... a 1mm margin of error on it... So I'll take a bit of rot for grip any day of the week! Hahaha

    I've got some lines to share with you on prelude! I think prelude into that trail that has the little wall drop into the little rock drop is my favorite run on that side. Its about a mile long enduro style trail. Those two berms have been on my radar to fix for awhile now. Its been 3 or 4 years since we did that.

    • @TheRideAbides
      @TheRideAbides 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Fixing those berms would be money!! Always up for learning new lines. We usually roll into the drops next too. Great run!!

    Great riding Sage as always! The six fingers of death doesn't sound all that confidence inspiring I would have constant "oh crap" moments on those features 😁

    • @TrailSage
      @TrailSage  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      lol thanks Christian. It's so hard to get all 6 fingers without clipping out that I have stayed away from making a video on it. Pressures on I guess, lol.
