  • Lay down a drop-cloth before hitting play, because you're gonna squirt all over the room when you see this thing. I picked mine up from empireoutfitter.com and got a great deal. Check 'em out if you get the chance.

    Hey Jim! I love your reviews. I am about to get my first Marfione custom in a few weeks.
    I don't know if you've seen it, but its the custom MT Scarab with toxic green hardware and custom DE blade with an apocalyptic stonewash finish. Kind of looks like a hybrid between the Scarab and the Troodon/Combat Troodon.
    Still on sale at BHQ btw. The price on it was surprisingly low for being a Marfione custom imo.
    Idk, I just fell for it. I will make a video on it once I have it too.

  • @luispalomares5977
    @luispalomares5977 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    With a knife that looks that nice do you use it for edc or keep it stored for decoration ? I assume not edc because of the mirror finish

    • @JimSkeltonKnives
      @JimSkeltonKnives  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Luis Palomares I've carried it a lot already, and will continue to do so. With my mirrored blades I tend to carry them on a day where they will realistically see minimal duty. But if I need to use it, I won't hesitate. If you beat em up, that's what spa treatments are for!

    I remember seeing one of these on BladeHQ, but it was a billion dollars, which is sadly out of my price range. Just checked, yup $1950 on BladeHQ.

    Will you consider getting a Gough Custom fixed blade in his next batch? He only makes fixed blades, and I know that you are primarily focused on folders, but the level of quality control and research he has put into these knives is so amazing.

      +ting280 I honestly don't know. I've owned mirrored blades from many makers, some great, some not so great. I believe the biggest part is prepping the surface properly prior to going for the mirror.

    Thanks for all the great reviews, you have helped me purchas a number of great knives.. I have narrowed the next one down to a Custom Closer or Reate Future with damasteal blade. Which of the two would you recommend, both of your reviews were great but not sure what the comparison would be. Thanks

    Fabulous mechanism and material yes, but so much bulk metal over metal damage the aesthetics... not the most elegant of knives

  • @douglasmstewart
    @douglasmstewart 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    I didn't even like this knife one bit. However, yours, with the mirror polish and the soft contrasting bamboo, is something I would consider owning. It's the only one that makes me say "yeah, I kinda want it".

      I doubt he does anything to them, maybe strops them. He doesn't do any hard use with his knives

    • @JimSkeltonKnives
      @JimSkeltonKnives  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +no1garbologist I strop with a Stropman HD strop when needed, and when I get to the point where a knife truly needs a new edge, I send it back to the maker for a new edge and a spa treatment overall. I do not trust myself to sharpen my own knives..

    Wow at a almost a GRAND I think i'll pass really $975.00

    • @JimSkeltonKnives
      @JimSkeltonKnives  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      For a plain stonewash frame and blade maybe. This one is 1650-2000 depending on the dealer. Worth every penny for this craftsmanship

    • @sreagle9430
      @sreagle9430 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      that's fine if your going to have a safe queen, and do not mind spending 1.5 to 2 Grand, to take out and show your friends or play with it. Sorry I'm just LMFAO anyone could or would Buy one but just like PT Barnum There's a sucker born every minute.Again Just My Honest Opinion... My knives I take anywhere and do not worry about using them.

    • @JimSkeltonKnives
      @JimSkeltonKnives  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +SREagle I'll give you a pass since you're clearly new to my channel. All of my knives are bought to carry and use. If something doesn't get carried often enough, I trade or sell it for one that will. I carried cheap production knives most of my life, now I carry high end customs because I'm able to. They all get used the same way.

  • @6jizza6whizza6
    @6jizza6whizza6 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    i love your vids and that mirror finish is beautiful but its amazing just how pretentious and overpriced some of these knives can be. I'ts definitely true what they say some ppl truly do have more money than sense

    • @sputumtube

      +Marc Power If you can afford it, why not? Same reason people buy Bentley's instead of Fords.

    • @6jizza6whizza6
      @6jizza6whizza6 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I can afford it but most of the ones I've seen sobfar definitely aren't that special or even that visually appealing. Some are but most definitely aren't.

      Marc Power
      I didn't mean to question your financial acumen Marc, sorry if it came over that way. If the beautiful, exotic, sometimes downright weird knives on Jim's channel don't float your boat then maybe this isn't the channel for you.

    • @6jizza6whizza6
      @6jizza6whizza6 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      a few of them look quite nice but i would have to say that most of them do absolutely nothing for me and i only usually buy knives that give me a serious erection. :-)

    The bamboo theme makes it look cheap and touristy to me.

    • @JimSkeltonKnives
      @JimSkeltonKnives  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Rustknuckle Irongut I kinda thought the same thing to when I only saw pictures of it. Once I had it in my hands, I realized I was very wrong with that assessment. It's flat-out gorgeous, and richly detailed.

    • @rustknuckleirongut8107
      @rustknuckleirongut8107 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Jim Skelton It may just be how my mind is preconditioned to see stuff in a certain way. When something looks stamped or cast rather than machined my mind just goes "Whooa there buddy, you sure your getting value for your money?". On the other side you can slap some quality carbon fiber on just about anything and my mind goes "Ooooooo, I want that now".
      That is why I am drawn more to knives like the Sigil, the two Transformer knives, the Norseman and the Common Lancehead P series(love my P75) for their machining.
      Also the mirror polish is a negative for me personally since I remember from childhood that my cheapest and worst knives had a (bad) mirror polish(might just have been chrome plating over horrendous steel).
