nice reaction dude, the song is an ironic take on the evils of greed, rather than simply money itself being the problem. The track is also part of a concept album (Dark Side of The Moon) which is commenting on the human condition, of which money is just one piece of that puzzle.

The bit at the end of money is actually the segue to the next song, "Us And Them" which is about violence. "Money" has to be read in the thematic context of the album. The album's theme is the stress and pressures on a traveling rock 'n' roll band. Money is one of the stressors for the band. It does bring bring material wealth but it also brings the stress of competent money management, tax consequences, employees, charities etc. Money is needed to feed the machine.

Rodger Waters the bass player and Lyricist for Pink Floyd went around Abby Road studios asking a series of questions. He has questions like "did you get drunk lately"? "where you violent recently" "did the person you were violent against deserve it"? Etcetera!! He then inserted some of the more interesting answers into places in some songs and they ended up fitting really nicely!! He questioned people like Jerry O'Driscoll the doorman at Abbey Road he asked Roadies he asked even Paul McCartney of The Beatles who was recording at the same time Pink Floyd was and during this time Paul's group "Paul McCartney and Wings" but rejected his answers cuz Paul was trying to be silly and was performing instead of just answering the questions!!

I like this reaction.. I agree with AC below - the song is about greed. Dav id H and Nick M gives away a lot of money in different projects and and they raised 600 000 dollars for Ukraine

"Money is the Root of all Evil" is a very old saying, it is not written by Pink Floyd.

No it's NOT the root of evil!
But that's NOT what Rogers lyrics actually say.
The lyrics are "Money so THEY say, is the root...."
The lyrics are telling us that "THEY" (the super rich) pervert the saying. The normal quote is "the love of money is the root of all evil"
But THEY are trying to convince us "ordinary" people we should regard Money as evil meanwhile THEY grab as much as they can, even beyond what anyone could ever need.
