I have had several music teachers and friends familiar with music theory try to teach or explain to me the concept of whole, half, quarter, and eighth notes and I never understood it. Your explanation of showing the symbols and how it relates to the beat and strumming has finally made that light bulb go off! Your last chart with how it relates to the strumming really helped me understand the concept. Thank you!!!! You're an excellent teacher. - Emily

I don't know if you would ever display a strum pattern on sheet music but I'm trying to visualize what the "Island Strum" notation would look like in music notation. In 4/4 time would it be written 1-Quarter Note, 2-Eighth Notes barred, 1-Eighth Rest, 3-Eighth Notes barred? :)

After watching the Day-17 video, I changed my answer. How about 1-Quarter Note, 1-Eighth Note, 1-Quarter Note and 3-Eighth Notes barred :)
